I am sorry if this has already been answered else wherer, but I did a fast search and could not find it.
I know that at Target I can buy Disney gift cards and use my target card and get 5% off, but my local target does not have any.
I noticed at my local Lowes they have the $25 Disney cards and with my Lowes card I get 5% off purchases, but does it work there like it does at Target?
Has anyone here bought any there using their Lowes card?

But, Disney cards are not in Target's system as gift cards, they are in their system as entertainment cards. That's why the 5% off work on those and not the other gift cards Target sells.

I wonder if they are in Lowe's system as gift cards or entertainment cards. That's awesome that they even sell them....I've never even noticed them at our Lowe's but they seem to have a HUGE display of cards so I'll have to look next time :)

I went ahead and bought one because I had to buy some other things and the 5% did not apply to the gift card. What a bummer, my lowes has southwest gift cards as well and if it had worked I was going to grab a few of those as well.

Sorry this is a little off topic, but has anyone ever purchased a Disney card with a Lowe's gift card? I didn't know if they would allow if they do consider it a gift card. Lowe's gift cards are somtimes available as a reward on viggle, it would be great if I could buy Disney cards with it.

I'd love to know the answer to this as well. Lowes, Amazon and Best Buy all have rewards on Southwest Rewards......BUT no Disney gift card choices :(. I know that Amazon doesn't sell Disney gift cards, but since Lowes does it makes me wonder if I could get a few Lowes gift cards and buy Disney ones in exchange.

I did find one Google answer that said yes, but I don't want to buy them to try it with just one answer LOL

I don't know about Lowe's for sure but I think I read online once that Lowe's does not allow the purchase of other store's gift cards with a Lowe's gift card. I do know that Best buy does. I have used Best Buy gift cards on several occasions to buy Amazon (Kindle) cards. So, I'm thinking they would allow the purchase of Disney too.

Now to figure out if Best Buy sells Disney gift cards LOL

I know that thy do not let you purchase gift cards with the Lowe's Gift/merch cards. we had a huge employee promo where I ended up with several hundred dollars worth of gift cards and that was my exact idea....too bad it didn't pan out, but i got a Kitchenaid mixer instead.

You can buy a $100 gift card at BJ's for $95.95. I've been buying one a month since Jan for our Dec trip!!!!

Unlike Target card, Lowest 5% card is very limited (can not combined with coupons, price matches etc).

I really do not get why people are so crazy about stacking disney gift cards with 5% off. Buying gift cards is not a great idea unless you can budget things exactly. If, for some reason, you lose one gift card or can not use one, all savings are gone. Or worse, you feel you have to use them and do/buy things unnecessarily.

Because it is an easy 5% savings off their vacation! If you buy enough to pay off your trip ahead of time, you aren't overbuying them and really have little chance of losing them since you are applying them before leaving home. Even if you only used them to pay for part of the trip, it is still a savings on money you would have spent anyway. If I had a target card, I would be buying them up like crazy, but I really don't shop target enough to warrant getting another card, although I am tempted!

I've bought a few since April at Lowes with my Discover card. Discover is offering 5% cash back on purchases made at home improvement stores April - June. Out of curiosity, I bought a couple of Disney cards at Lowes and the purchase came up as "Home improvement" on my statement, so I got the 5% cash back.

Note that you have to sign up on Discover's site for the promo. It's not automatically applied unless you sign up on your account page.

I know it is not actually a discount but I was able to buy Disney gift cards at Lowes and take advantage of an 18 month no interest promotion on my Lowes credit card.

We visit DW at least three times a year, so they never go to waste.

We also buy the $100 for $95.99 at BJ's.

....is giving 5% cashback on Lowe's purchses thru June 30th. I'm going to see if my lowes carries giftcards. I never even thought to check, but I will now. Thanks Op!

I didn't know about Lowes until I read this thread, but I know Walgreens won't let you buy a Disney gift card with a Walgreens gift card. When our new Walgreens opened up a few months ago, they offered a $25.00 Walgreens gift card if you switched your prescriptions over. The day I got the gift card, I tried to buy a Disney gift card with it and the manager said they did not allow that. I wanted to put a $100.00 on one and apply the $25.00 Walgreen's card to the balance, but was not allowed to. I was told a Walgreens gift card can not be used to buy any other gift card.

That's because of the agreement the stores have with the gift card company. The one at the grocery store I work at is called Blackhawk Gift Cards and they can only be purchased with cash or credit/debit. No store credit.

How about this.. I have the Capital One card that has the 5% rewards on certain categories each quarter. This quarter it is restauaarnts, movie theaters and Lowes...so..if I bought the GC at Lowes during this reward quarter would the 5% cash back apply from the CC company?

Oh..I see someone else posted this..still wonder if the extra credit will be given for GC..

For us, there's no "cannot use one" or pressure to use them up because there's always another trip. If I don't spend what I have on the gift cards for this trip, I'll use it on the next one... or the next one... or the one after that. I also have a child young enough that we shop the Disney Store for gifts, so there's that too. It isn't a savings tactic that works for everyone but for DISers, most of whom go regularly, it is a good way to save a few extra bucks.
