Borrowing points from 2027?

Good evening

So we are planning to book a trip to Aulani for May 2026. We are using 2025 and borrowing 2026 for our trip this September. The only way we would be able to do this Aulani trip (aside from buying more points ) is to borrow from 2027 points, since 2025 and 2026 will be gone after booking this September trip. Is the system going to allow me to borrow 2027 points to book this if I go booking this trip this June 2025 (11 month window) My guess would be yes, but I want to make sure before I start planning this one thanks!

Whether or not you can borrow from your 2027 points depends on what your use year is and whether your Aulani trip would fall in your 2026 or 2025 use year. If it falls in your 2026 UY, you can borrow from your 2027 points. For example, I have a June UY. If I take a trip in July 2026, I can borrow from my 2027 points. However, if I take a trip in May 2026, it falls in my 2025 UY and I can only borrow from my 2026 points.

I thought your resale was BLT and you were going to buy RIV direct soon. Where are you getting 11 month window for AUL? Unless this is some foreshadowing.

You can always borrow from the next UY of your reservation UY dates (not calendar year).

Just remember, what points you can use depends entirely on the dates of the trip. When you book that trip has absolutely nothing to do with it. Forget calendar years when booking trips, just think in terms of UY, similar to a company’s fiscal year.

So if the trip occurs in the 2026 UY of the points you’re using, you are not borrowing them when you book that trip, even though when you book it you happen to be in your 2025 UY.

You could also buy OTU (one time use) points for your September trip this year assuming you're not using home priority points to book. Currently, you can buy up to 24 points per use year by calling member services for $20 /pt. The points must be used in the use year they're bought for, and immediately applied to a reservation (though you can cancel that reservation.) They can't be banked, and can only be used at 7 months.

You could conceivably do this again for your AUL trip next year.

You can buy OTUP without having to clear out your own points. But OTUP’s can’t be banked or borrowed.

Unless you own at Aulani, you can't book until the 7 month mark.
