Booking a desirable week, one day at a time?

If I want to book a week that I imagine is very desirable, due to the 11 month rule, if my desired reservation is a Friday to Saturday, when each day opens due to hitting the 11 month threshold, I can only secure one day at a time? Is that correct? So I'd end up with 8 reservations? That raises another question, the system opens up at what time? 8am EST? Which is best, to use the web site and risk connectivity or site issues or call MS? Can MS also combine the 8 reservations into just one?

The online reservation system rolls to the next booking day at 8 am eastern. MS doesn't open until 9 am eastern.

If you book on the day the 11 month window opens, you should be able to book up to 7 nights.

Actually, it is usually the first night that is the show stopper. But, if it is due to folks walking a reservation the desired dates generally open up a few days later. Generally--if your first night is open you can book the other 6 nights at that time.
It is best to use the online system. MS doesn't open 'til 9am.

If you find you have to book one night at a time, it is better to modify your reservation to add another night if you can. If you can't--just make a bunch of patchwork reservations (of the same room type, etc) and ask MS to stitch them all together when you get it all complete.

Also, for the 8 nights you can modify the reservation the next day (assuming you made the original 7 night reservation at 11 month booking window) to add the additional night on.

What do you mean by the first night is the show stopper? Is that to mean if the first night is available, then likely so will the remaning nights? and vice versa, if the first isn't, then so too will be the rest of the week?

I have a feeling this is going to be like snagging ComiCon tickets or like when Nike made a limited number of the BTTF sneakers or when Olive Garden would release a limited number of unlimited pasta cards. Trying to hit the "Buy/Order/Reserve" button in that same millisecond half the US is also trying.

Ah. Good to know. I just concluded that the system was 11 months to the day, so each day of the reservation would have to wait for the 11th month point.

You can book, for home resort, an arrival date plus six more nights (7 total) beginning at 8 a.m. eastern 11-months out from date of arrival. Thus you do not have to wait a day after booking the first night to book the second night. Once booked, you can also add nights, via modification of your reservation, beginning the next day -- your departure date from the resort can just never be more than 11 months plus 7 days from the date you go online or call to reserve time.

If you go online to do a reservation at 11-months out from date of arrival and the arrival date is shown as open but the next day is not, then the most likely cause is the reservation system has a glitch because there is no way via making a reservation that one can get any days in a room that are beyond 11-months out without getting the date that is 11-months out. The possible exceptions to that are there is a planned closing of some rooms beginning a date right after 11-months out, or the available rooms have decreased due to the fact that the resort has members who purchased a guaranteed week, thus also reducing the rooms that can be available during that time.

If the issue you are having is that when you go online at 8 a.m. at 11-months out for the start date that you want, that arrival date is full, that is most likely the result that any rooms available are limited in number and someone else, whose computer communicated with Disney's faster than yours, beat you to getting the room. One can sometimes pick up dates, potentially on a daily basis when that occurs, a little after 11-months out as members change their reservations (often by "walkers" passing by).

That’s an issue only with a few room types and times of year - for instance, BWV Standard View and BW View studios (and 2BR, because they’re all lockoffs) during the fall, AKV value and club level studios year round, RIV Standard View studios year round. But if your home resort is SSR, for instance, you’re unlikely to have trouble booking any size villa at 11 months anytime of the year.

I think the week I'm after will be one of those sought after weeks. I've noticed when people sell their confirmed reservations for this period, they often look to get $25 per point.

Our two home resorts are Grand Floridian and Riviera. Even at 11 months, availability might be an issue and for other resorts, at 7 months, it is even more likely to be an issue.

The first two weeks of December and the week between Christmas and NYE.
So it won't be the week of Xmas? There are three days before Xmas with a lower point requirement (Xmas falls middle of week). Thank you for the response!

It depends on which day of the week Christmas falls, but usually the third week of December is in less demand than the others. That doesn't make it easy, just not as mad.
