Title says it all. We've been doing a low-carb diet (not keto, but keto suggestions welcome!) and while we certainly will break it at the parks, we're hoping to balance out some crazy pastries and cocktails with some high-protein, low-carb snacks and meals that won't leave us carb bloated. TIA

I ate at Spice Road Table for the first time the other day. They are served tapas style and had several "plates" that had no carbs at all. In particular a chicken dish, a spicy shrimp, and a lamb meatball. They also had hummus fries which are (obviously) fried but maybe do not have carbs? And they don't take reservations-- you just jump on the wait list from the app. It's usually about 10-20 minutes so it's a good place to grab last-minute.

That sounds fantastic! I've never been there because most of my kids wouldn't eat there, but they won't be along this trip!
Also, DFB has a lot of good recs about how to "advocate for yourself" and request the swaps or things to leave off (Bye bye, bun) to make a meal better for your situation. Many of the suggestions are at TS places or AK (where we aren't going), but there's enough to get us through.

We had never eaten there either because of our kids! Then my 21-year-old daughter got into the Disney College Program and started working there in January and said she tried the food and actually loved it so we went there for the first time last week to visit her. (But the 19-year-old that we took with us to try it last week still wasn't really sold on it) We will definitely go back again without the kids. I love that it's a table service restaurant where you can get in pretty quickly and sit in the shade on the water.

There's always the iconic turkey leg.

I absolutely LOVE those hummus fries, but hummus isn't particularly low carb. I completely assumed it was, but several months ago, I looked up the numbers. I would absolutely recommend them, though.

I wish I had more to add, but I've found that Wallyworld's food choices are easy pass on, so avoiding temptation is pretty easy. IMO, there's a lot of sizzle and not much steak. My only "must haves" are Dole Whips, Pineapple Floats, those dang Spicy Chicken Waffle sandwiches (hold the slaw, that stuff is just LOADED with sugar or something sweet,) and Flame Tree's Onion Rings. Other than that, I haven't found much of anything that's worth the upcharge enough to splurge on the carb intake, especially when considering baked goods. Unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but it's just an opinion. I keep nuts and jerky in the backpack for my snacks, and let the kids have the good stuff. I will probably sneak a taste or two though 🐷 - pick your battles.

This is a fantastic idea for a thread, imo. I'm hoping to learn some stuff, too.

Let's see.

I do Keto and on my last trip I did the following restaurants: Space 220, Teppan Edo, California Grill, Steakhouse 71, Boma, Boathouse, Blaze Pizza, ice cream in HS and chocolate bar in MK. I usually had a keto type bar in the room for breakfast but I'm not a big breakfast eater any more. And I was not only low-carb but was in ketosis the entire trip

Boathouse is easy as they have a number of fish, meat and veggie options. I eat WELL there and it's always good.
Teppan Edo - just have then use veggies instead of rice.
CG - my dessert was the cheese plate, though I did taste my brother's items. Everything was Excellent!
Steakhouse 71 - Excellent food and service. The Wedge salad was very good. Did this location 2x during the trip. One tip - since I was a single the first time and a twofer the second time both times I was directed to an "alcove" in the back left. I didn't want to be there and was seated in a better location when I requested it.
Boma - Meat, salmon, tried some of the soups, salad. I even cheated and did a couple of the Zebra Domes 😁.
Space 220 - forget dinner, as no desserts are low carb so why pay for it?
Blaze Pizza has a Keto crust. Get the Build Your Own and go to town. Did this location several times on the trip.
In the Confectionery at the Magic Kingdom go to the little alcove all the way to the right. They have some dark chocolate no-sugar added bars there. They must have some low card sweetener because they tasted like milk chocolate to me.
Hollywood Scoops in HS has Fat-free, No Sugar Added Vanilla ice cream and Catalina Eddie's has a decent Caesar Salad with Chicken .

I'm sure there are more opportunities but these are the ones I used on that trip. On a past trip I also Did Earl OF Sandwich - if you do the Full Montegu and put all the filling on one side it's only about 30 carbs.

Between about 2 meal a day and all the walking I managed to keep myself in ketosis for the full trip and never has a blood sugar problem.
Hope this helps.

Does anybody know of a podcast that will specialize in how to do Keto in Disney? Ones I am pulling up are old youtube videos. If we are to follow strictly keto we cannot even have a Dolewhip I believe is there a way around to it? Im thinking of brining our own stevia drops or packets just to be able to enjoy something.

You gotta use a decent amt of common sense and pick your battles. Don't concentrate on the Dole Whip you CAN'T have, be happy with the treats you CAN have. Same thing when you're at home.

Do whatever works to avoid the temptation. In my case, I just have to have snacks on hand to keep myself sated, and be happy to try the lower carb treats I come across, and just be happy to enjoy them, even tho sometimes they are not great. What I've found tho, is that once I got OFF of those delicious, carby, yummy, treats, even the low/no carb treats were delicious in their own way. Example: "Enlightened" brand ice cream? That stuff has to be made out of voodoo, it's absolutely scrumptious (but I haven't had real ice cream in a year, so of course, anything resembling ice cream is delicious!)

You'll be fine if you scan menus after searching the web for ideas, and keep in mind, most places have already been asked about making something "lower carb." I'd bet with some common sense choices, and help from servers / cm's, you'll be just fine. Remember to ask if you don't see anything. You never know. See ScottOKW2K's post above.
Good Luck!

PLEASE report back after your trip!

Thanks for a great thread. I’m low carb and low sugar and we will be at Disney for 9 nights in the summer.

Been researching the menus but great to hear what others have tried.

We had dinner at Toledo the last time and it had some great choices and the Keto crust pizza at Blaze was good.

We stayed at two resorts when we were in WDW in November. Both had full kitchens, but we did eat out. We usually ate at buffets, which allowed me to pick from many things or at least pick certain "parts" out (meat) of a dish. I gained four pounds while there. When we ate at table serve restaurants, I told them I was Keto and they helped.

Chick peas have a ton of carbs, so obviously the hummus fries have carbs. The lamb meatballs would have some kind of binder with carbs. i'm not sure why you are claiming things have "no carbs at all" when that isn't true.

I realize this is an old thread and the OP has probably completed their trip, but here are some ideas for keto/low-carb foods for when this thread shows up in a search.

Snacks:
Some of the snack stands (at least Harambe in AK and Liberty Square in MK) have mini Babybel cheese.
Prince Eric's and Liberty Square (MK) and Anaheim Produce (HS) have whole pickles as a snack item.
Many merchandise locations have the Chip & Dale's Snack Co products, and they have a couple varieties of mixed nuts.

Meals:
Quick service - Burger without a bun or a grilled chicken salad are probably the safest bet in most locations. Avoid marinades and bbq sauce. Sunshine Seasons in Epcot has salmon and rotisserie chicken for something different.
MK table service - The Plaza (burger or salad) or Be Our Guest (steak) probably have the best options.
EP table service - I'd choose Coral Reef (fish), Le Cellier (steak), or Teppan Edo (careful with sauces and sub veggies in for the rice).
HS table service - I'd choose Brown Derby (salad or steak) or 50's (pot roast, salmon, or Caesar salad with chicken or salmon).
For any table service meal, ask about swapping potatoes out for a side salad or roasted/steamed vegetables.

Thank you for your response. It will be helpful for me and, I assume others who search for low carb options
