For those of you whose children have bean bag chairs, I have some questions:

1: Do they really use them?

2: Where did you get them and how expensive were they?

3: What size is good, my daughters are 13 and 11?

4: Were they a good quality or did the filling start coming out soon?

Thanks for your help.

Well my DD is 5 so it's not quite the same as a big kid like you have. She got hers as a gift from grandparents but it came from The Land of Nod and I think they were about $100. It is very well made and we have had no problems with the stuffing coming out. She uses it EVERY SINGLE day and has had it for 3 years. As for what size...considering your kids are so much older then I would definitely get the biggest size available. I will say this...don't settle for a bean bag from Target, Walmart or a discount store...I've learned you definitely get what you pay for where they are concerned on this kind of item. You just end up having to replace it later anyways because the stuffing gets smushed and the bag kind of goes flat.

I had bean bags for my kids when they were toddlers...they held up great, cuz the kids never used them! Also, when they were used, they were really loud with all the beans rolling around and rubbing against the other beans. So, I think bean bags are out for us.....but I am a bit intrigued by those low video gaming chairs. Kids also seem to like those papasan chairs or basket chairs that are out during back to school....some even have mp3 speakers built in them.

I found a great deal on some Lands' End bean bag chairs and bean bag ottomans a couple years back.

I got 3 of each and each boy has one. They use them to watch TV and play video games in their room.

We finshed our basement and got DD one for her 3rd birthday, she always lays on it when we watch movies. We decided to go with a durable one since I want it to last for a long time, and I wanted to make sure the cover could be removed and we could easily add beans to it.

Here is where we ordered from. I also liked that they have a bunch of fabrics to choose from and will send you swatches before you order.

My girls were given a bean bag by a neighbor that was cleaning out some household stuff. It was HUGE and was more of a foam filled bag with a nice durable courdoroy cover. I looked it up thinking I'd order another one for my boys and WOW, I had no idea of what she'd given us. It's called a Cordaroy bean bag/bed. The cover comes off and you can flip it out to make a bed!!! Plus they have a lifetime guarantee...which is nice.

We've had the leathery cover regular bean bags before but this one is really really nice and I am going to have to get another one. They really are in line with what you'd pay for a nice LandsEnd bean bag. Oh and I've seen some on that auction site that starts with an E LOL sold by this same company, usually last years cover colors...etc so that's an option as well.

Here is their website: http://http://cordaroys.com/shop/cart.php?m=splash

Has anyone had any experience with the ones from a place called CozySac?

My DS is 12 and uses it and loves it. He has had it for about 4 years now. He uses it when he plays videogames and works on homework. It was about $129 and The land of Nod. I love the material becuase it is a heavy duty canvas material.

We have one from the Foof store. We first saw one when we were in the hospital with my son for a week - they had a kids play area that had this giant, family sized bean bag. He loved it, and would always curl up with one of us for a story or such. When we got home, we decided to buy one. Our is about 5ft round, and was about $250. It was totally worth every penny. My husband uses it all the time, I would if I could pry him out of it. Actually, we can both climb in to watch a movie. My son still loves to curl up in it, especially when he's tired, not feeling well, etc.

I LOVE the Foof!!!!!

Yes, used a LOT (gamimg)
Target or Walmart (but that was a few years ago).
It was about 3' across.
The filling did not come out, it did however "deflate" they are these white styrofoam looking things/pellets. When we tried to replace them (about 2 years in) it was way too much money so we just ditched the bean bag....He liked it but I do not think it was worth the $$, maybe like 45.

DD's came from Lilian Vernon 4 years ago from Grandma and Grandpa. They sprang for a cover that has her name on it and can be be removed for washing. MIL came to visit a few months ago and saw how sad and flat DD's bag had gotten, so after she left a refill bag arrived in the mail. I think it'll hold out for another couple of years and then we'll upgrade to a bigger one. DD's used hers pretty much daily, so I know for us it's a good deal.

My friends had one that's huge, you can seriously fit 3-4 adults on it. They offered to give it to us, but DH said NO. It was just too big, but if we ever have a designated family room or a bigger living room I'll definitely invest in a good quality one. You definitely get what you pay for, some of the other posters have given good suggestions.

My boys love theirs... my mom bought them for them from Pottery Barn Kids. They were a little pricey, but I have to say they have really stood up to a lot of abuse and the cover washes really well. They are denim with their names embroidered on them and we have had them for 3 years now.

My kids have used their Lands End bags constantly for the last 3 years. They have the Junior sized bags and are asking (and getting) the full sized bags for Christmas.

My DD 15 has one and also has a bean bag matching ottoman. We purchased it from Lands ends, it was in their clearance section, but was still fairly expensive. It also has build in speakers in the chair and her ipod connects to it. She NEVER uses it, so it was one of those items that I thought would be a great gift, and clearly I was wrong. :sad2:

DD got one when she was 11 or 12. Never used it. She had a sleep over last year and one of the girls jumped on it and it got a little hole in it and did the stuff ever come out, it was everywhere and really hard to clean up. I duct taped the hole and it was fine, but she still didn't use it, I think we finally threw it away. Luckily, I got it at Target for 75% off and only paid around $6.50 I think. We've also had the video game chair ($90 marked to $30) that you can plug your game or ipod into, never used it. Also had a Dish chair, the butterfly chair, etc. She got a real wing back chair at an auction she went to with my sister (new and it was $2.00!) she loves it and it looks nice in her room.

I just ordered 3 of the cozy sacs for my mother. They should ship next week. The 36" sac is $99, with free shipping and no taxes (when shipping out of state), plus they sent a set of free fabric samples so we could coordinate the colors with her new media room.

I will have to let you know what we think!

Anyone else have any exp w/the cozy sac?

I got lucky last week and found the Pottery Barn Lounge 'N Chair for $5 at a yard sale in great shape!! The color is pink and white dot but I would love to get a different color and have in monogrammed. I just called PBTeen and they said you couldn't order just the slip cover. That seems kind of crazy. Has anyone ever heard of buying just that from pbteen?

Okay...we got the cozy sacs and they are beautiful! They came packed in cubes and had to be "fluffed" and then put in to their sacs.

DS16 was not impressed...DD12 was impressed. They are not as firm as the love sacs, but they are great for teens/kids. I did find that lounging out over two was very comfortable though...hehe.

I just wanted to follow-up for all that were interested!

For $99, I would definately recommend them if you are looking for something for the kids to lounge around on.

I am so happy to find this thread. I have been thinking of getting a bean bag chair for my dd. I really think she will like and use it. Off to check out all your great suggestions.

1: Do they really use them? Yes. I often find my girls sitting in it to watch tv or napping

2: Where did you get them and how expensive were they? Target for about $30

3: What size is good, my daughters are 13 and 11? I think it's about 3' but could be wrong. My girls are 3 and 5 so it's a decent size for them, not sure of it would suit older kids as well.

4: Were they a good quality or did the filling start coming out soon? We've had it since August and it's holding up very well. My only gripe is that it's not very full. It has the styrofoam like pellets and it almsot seems like it's under filled. Overall the quality of the fabirc os good and has held up to my sitting on it, as well as the girls.
