I thought I read somewhere that the amount of time it takes isn't much different between the two methods. However, I'm going first thing in the morning (rope drop) so I would think the lines for the Skyliner would make the walkway faster (although I won't be walking, I'll be on an ECV). Coming back at mid-day, is it really about the same length of time? The Skyway's more fun!

I’d say it should normally take roughly 5 minutes longer to walk (or ECV) from BC to the Skyliner station and then ride the Skyliner to Hollywood. Boat should be similar too, within 5 minutes of both options depending on when the next one comes.

Advantage - Walking:
Always open in all weather
No waiting on anything or anyone

Advantage- Skyliner:
A ride in and of itself
Great views

Because there’s the Skyliner transfer at Caribbean Beach (off then on again) there’s always the potential for delays. We went Hollywood to Beach Club (Epcot) last month after a moderate rain had ended, but when we got to Caribbean Beach they were holding and not loading. Got on about 10 minutes later.

The walking path might be faster, especially with Skyliner lines in the morning. Midday, the times are pretty similar, so it depends if you'd rather enjoy the Skyliner ride or take the direct walking route.

I'd do the Skyliner later in the day on the way back. For rope drop I'd stick to the walking path or boat from YC, just in case there are any issues at the CBR xfr station.

We walk vs taking the Skyliner more often than not, mainly just to have ultimate control of our timing and it’s a pleasant walk, and whatever the time difference is isn’t that material. The exception is if it’s hot / mid day sun - then we’d be more likely to Skyliner. That walk can be warm if it’s full sun/hot/humid.

I much prefer to scoot on my ECV over the Skyliner - for me it’s faster (no waiting for the disability cabin) and much better views (on my ECV - all I get to see is the poles in front)…plus I’m afraid of heights and I don’t have to worry about any delays due to whatever…

Skyliner is definitely nicer in the middle of the day, when there aren't lines. In the morning, walking is probably faster and would allow you to rope drop earlier, but Skyliner is still pretty quick.

I would think walking is easily the fastest. At an average walking speed of 5 miles an hour it should take about 12 minutes as it seems BC is about 1 Mile from HS. The skyliner may take 18 minutes with the transfer making walking 44% faster. And yes this is meant to be funny but also some truth.
With that I like to walk…. if not take the skyliner or boat as both to me are very enjoyable rides. I will do both when staying in that area if not on park days on non park days or both.

Thanks for the advice and especially the reasons. I think I'll walk both ways. As a couple people have mentioned, I'd be more dependent on delays (weather, equipment) if I take the skyliner and I think ECVing back and forth would give me more independent. Any delays would be more likely due to my decisions.

We found walking much faster in general. One night we wanted to save steps and decided to do the skyliner. We were on the actual skyliner (not in line, but on the skyliner for nearly 50 minutes). It took 40 minutes to get from EP to CBR. It was moving SO slow it was ridiculous. It never actually stopped it was just creeping along....

If you don’t mind the walk, I always prefer that. It’s nice around the water, plus you can always cut over to the boardwalk through the inn side. Skyliner can be busy and you’re not always guaranteed to just sit with your family.

We made the mistake of taking the Skyliner to HS in the morning and ran into a huge line waiting to board the HS line at the CB station. We almost always walk to HS from the BC and YC for rope drop.

We got stranded at the Caribbean Beach transfer point one time. Even after waiting more than 15 minutes for our Uber (we gave up on the Skyliner), we arrived at Hollywood Studios before the Skyliner started to run again.

It’s not the first time we’ve been seriously delayed by the Skyliner.

From the Beach Club, I’d be tempted to take the Friendship boat, if it’s running. In that direction to Hollywood Studios, it only has one stop at Swan & Dolphin.

We’ve done the Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios walk many times. The Beach Club walk is considerably longer. Unless you are full of energy, I’d lean towards the boat or Skyliner.
