Bay Lake Tower refurb dates

Funny because i noticed the same thing but i just assumed they named the wrong pool since BLT is beginning its refurb and then this picture has Bay COve pool in it.......

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/bay-lake-tower-at-contemporary/recreation/#:~:text=in late December.-,Beginning September 30, 2024, the Bay Lake Pool at Disney's,is completed in late December.

Yeah, it’s interesting. Either they used the wrong name/terminology, or it really is the circle pool. One would think if it really were the circle Bay Lake Pool that note would also be on the hotel-side page - but it wouldn’t be the first time Disney has been inconsistent with their disclaimers across the different hotel and villa “page versions”.

Why does disney name things with such similar names sometimes (like Wilderness Lodge & Ft Wilderness) that must confuse non-disneyphiles all the time. I bet they even confuse themselves sometimes. The english language has a lot of words in it ... they should use more of them lol.

sorry for the OT, can't help about the pool

There's 8 Lake View Grand Villas and 6 Theme Park view. I had read a rumor somewhere that they were going to start on the top floors and work their way down one floor at a time. That doesn't mean they are doing that. So far I haven't actually seen any reports of the work starting.
FWIW when they did the soft goods refurb at the VGF villas building, they definitely went top down. I suspect that this avoids anyone being immediately below work being done, and that if anyone has to get displaced within the building, they get an "upgrade" instead of a "downgrade" - this happened to us at VGF - we stayed in the same (standard) room category but got a top floor brand new room (and could see them doing work on the 4th floor.

This probably makes even more of a difference at BLT since moving someone from a standard to a refurbed LV or TPV will win lots of goodwill points, but taking a TPV room out of service and moving someone booked in TPV to a lower floor ... would be heard 'round the social media world.
We were there last week. Only sign of construction so far is that the water was turned off for a couple of hours middle of the week. Nothing else at that point.
We had that happen for a short time at the end of August with no warning. While we were doing laundry. And when they water came back on, it spewed black. It was gross!

So the BLT pool is closing correct? I’m confused by these names and pictures. 😂 We are there in a month.

I would call and ask. The info is inconsistent. It says the Bay Lake Pool which is one of the CR’s pools; however it pictures the Cove Pool which is the BLT pool.

As I said a page or two back, I believe it's the CR Bay Lake Pool, not the BLT Bay Cove Pool. I believe the photo of the BLT pool is at the top of the page because it's a BLT web page. I can't explain why the notice of closure is not on the CR web pages; maybe it's because the feature pool will still be open there, maybe it's because whoever manages Disney's web pages hasn't caught up (they just recently posted up to date photos of GF resort rooms on the web page, 2 years after they were refurbished).

Posted this in the other thread, too - just saw in a BLT group on Facebook that the south side of the tower is closing Sunday for renovations. Exciting stuff!
So they are doing refurb in sections as opposed to floors? That’s what the front desk CM told me and it makes sense since it’s a tower.

Doing sections seems like a much worse experience for the guests of the hotel though. Every single floor having construction instead of just 1 or 2 at a time?

If you think of BLT in sections (left, middle and right) it may not be too bad unless the 5th floor and bridge to CR gets impacted.

Exactly, I'm super worried that the bridge will be closed during my January trip and make getting to Contempo cafe and the monorail a real pain in the butt.

Oof. I guess it might be helpful in that they can commandeer a whole elevator bank too. And then if you get moved to a refurbed room you are also closer to the CR (and the bus stop) when the bridge reopens, etc etc.

FYI, a new BLT pool closure notice has been added to CR’s hotel and villa site.

From January 26, 2026 to early May 2026, the Bay Cove Pool, the water play area and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily be closed for maintenance. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool and the water play area and the whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy.

I’m glad they were clear this time about which pool will be closed! I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who wrote the previous notice didn’t know the difference. And I’m sure everyone involved wishes BLT itself had been named differently so as not to have this confusion.

I'll be staying there while the pool will be closed. I am wondering if the drink refill station down by the pool will still be open? 🤞

I just hope they finish on schedule! I only used a few of my BLT points for a couple nights around a MVMCP night and banked the rest of my September 2024 points to 2025 🤞

I also used all my AKV points this year so I can possibly bank next year's points for use just after their refurb, since they should be next! Excited for these refurbs!

So it’s the one contemporary pool closed September through December of this year and then the BLT pool closed Jan-May of 2026?
