This is our new trash can for the main and guest restrooms...my husband calls it a 'women's trashcan'...I told him that no one likes to look at anyone's trash if using the restroom...Am I crazy for thinking this trashcan would be an upgrade for our restroom?

---My husband sees it as a Sanitary Napkin Receptacle---

It's a trash can. Can't remember the last time I had a guest in my house that used a bathroom. So your concern would never have occurred to me

There are no women living in my home and both of my bathrooms have trash cans very similar to the one you posted. I guess I'm just getting in touch with my feminine side. :)

Never heard of a gender trashcan before. Ours are all none lid so I guess I would know everyone's throw away business if I cared to look but I don't care.

My one in the bathroom has a nice lighthouse on it if that means anything.

I think maybe it's being referred to as a "woman's" trash can because the lid prevents people from having to see/smell used feminine products in the trash? :confused3 Just a guess.

I never really thought about putting a lidded can in my bathroom but it does kind of make sense...I never really liked everyone's bathroom trash staring at me in the face!

Well... they'd go in any trashcan you have in the bathroom, I'd suppose, so by definition, they all are...

Honestly, it's just a nice trashcan, and it's nice to have trash contained.

Don't guys / post-menopausal women / children use the bathroom trash can too? Hair, floss, q-tips, toenail clippings, paper towels, candy wrapper, empty soap pumps, kleenex...

We have a similar one in our powder room because the dog gets into anything without an attached lid. Also, beyond that, I don't like looking at any trash, let alone bathroom trash. Most of our of our other trash cans either have lids or are in cabinets under sinks, etc.

A week or so ago there was one of those AITA stories on Facebook. A man berated his wife for leaving a used feminine pad (wrapped in toilet paper) in his single brother’s bathroom trash can.

The incel brother apparently freaked out when he saw it and complained to his sister-in-law’s husband. The husband said wife should have put it in her purse or pocket and disposed of it elsewhere as not to offend baby brother’s sensibilities.

Both men were called AH’s and were rightly eviscerated in the comments.

I think he just means that guys wouldn't care if the bathroom trashcan is just the plastic bin with a Target bag for a liner. Going to a stainless steel one with a lid is just fancy! 😁

Wrapped used sanitary products probably get zero notice unlike gross ear-waxed Q-tips lingering near the top 😂 They are not like used dukey diapers! 🦨 Pee-ew

Whether it's an upgrade or not is only something you can know as it's how you feel it compares to the old one in either functionality or style.

As to what your husband is saying to make it like it's because of period products (as in an association with them) is bonkers and isn't a good look on him respectfully speaking.

My husband wouldn't care what is being used as a bathroom trashcan. It's a trash can and that's pretty much all to him 🤷‍♀️

FWIW though I think in the case of the OP's husband he's associating not what the trash can actually is, but that it represents to him where period products go in a bathroom for ones that dispose of it there (like what he's thinking of in public bathrooms). It's not that the trash can is "girly" in style. Seems he's a bit squeamish of the association he is creating.

My only bathroom as a similar type trash can. It was originally purchased to keep the dog out of the trash. Your husband is being silly.
