Just shifted our on-board credit to the 11/25/2015 4-Day Bahamian on the Magic. The family is really excited about the holiday cruise, but I was wondering if anyone's sailed in this time period (and was able to swim at the ports). The ship stops at Nassau, Castaway Cay, & Key West.

We're on the 7-day Bahamian on the Wonder leaving 12/4 and I've been doing a bit of research on the weather. From Frommers...

The Weather

The temperature in The Bahamas averages between 75°F and 84°F (24°C-29°C) in both winter and summer, although it can get chilly in the early morning and at night. The Bahamian winter is usually like a perpetual late spring -- naturally, the high season for North Americans rushing to escape snow and ice. Summer brings broiling hot sun and humidity. There's a much greater chance of rain during the summer and fall.

The Hurricane Season

The curse of Bahamian weather, the hurricane season, lasts (officially) from June 1 to November 30. But there is no cause for panic. More tropical cyclones pound the U.S. mainland than The Bahamas. Hurricanes are actually fairly infrequent here, and when one does come, satellite forecasts generally give adequate advance warning so that precautions can be taken.

If you're heading for The Bahamas during the hurricane season, you might want to visit the National Weather Service.

Sounds like we should be ok, then. Not too worried about hurricanes (famous last words); sounds like the captain can dodge those if necessary. Just hoping the water temperature cooperates.

We have been at Castaway Cay in late November/early December the last 5 years. WAY too cold for me to enjoy the water - but it seemed like I was in the minority. It's not tropical temperature water like it is in the summer.

I was on the Nov. 30 Fantasy Eastern Caribbean last year. Our stop at CC was on Dec. 5 and it was gorgeous. Warm but not too hot, water nice and I swam about 30 mins.

It was very hot and humid when we went a few years back in November. The water was cold but ok once you got in. We had the tail end of a hurricane and had a partly rainy Nassau day and our day at sea was indoors. Our indoor day the seas were pretty rocky but the crew does their best to keep you busy. We had a indoor dance party and other activities. The bummer is they close down the Aqua Duck when the weather is bad. Our October cruise we didn't really have any bad days. This will be our second time going in March next March.

We did the thanksgiving cruise on the Fantasy last year and Castaway Cay was a little on the chilly side even for me. I did get in the water and my kids were in for a couple of hours once the sun came out, but I think that time of year is hit or miss. I swore I would not do a cruise that time of year again, but what did I do a couple of days ago, you say? ...booked next thanksgiving...I am willing to take a chance with the weather!
