I've seen a couple bloggers post about long lines to do the tiger trail now that the baby tiger is sometimes out. Things I've seen mentioned are
  • people start lining up asap during early entry
  • wait can be up to 2 hours in the morning
  • extended queue is used
  • viewing is limited to 5 mins
Anyone have experiences with seeing the baby tiger care to chime in with any tips or tricks? WDWNT suggests trying to view in the afternoon as the rush dies down. I had planned to swing by as I usually do around 9am but that seems very unwise. There is no way I'm waiting 1-2 hours for a maybe glimpse at a baby tiger no matter how adorable he is!

I feel like this is the best move tbh. AK in general becomes a ghost town in the afternoon because nearly everyone rope drops it and hops out to go elsewhere. I would adapt the "hop in line at the end of the night" strategy to the trail, iirc it closes at 3.

Baby Bakso has only been out for viewing in the morning so far. I haven’t been able to see him as haven’t been there before noon. Hoping he is able to stay out longer soon!

I was there February 9. Got in line at 9:00 am. Was told the wait was at least an hour. Basko comes out at 9:00 am. I believe people start lining up as soon as the park opens.

Waited 2 hours. We were probably 2 groups away from the viewing area. Basko went inside. Mom kept coming in and out for maybe 15 minutes. Then she went in and didn't come back out. So we never got to see Basko. Maybe he came back out? But they limit your time in the viewing area to 5 minutes even if there is nothing to see. You have to just be lucky.

I was told that Basko does not come back out in the afternoon.

If you really want to see him, I would get in line as soon as the park opens.

Don't you know that most babies take an afternoon nap? From what I hear, that includes Basko, who stays in for his afternoon nap every day.

Ugh. So if I don't want to wait in line to see the cub, is there a way to do the rest of the trail and just walk through the area? I really like the bird section.

I am sure that you will be able to do so, just not early in the morning. There is a platform that is being used by cast members to allow the curious hoards to see the young tiger. The cast members allow only a group at a time on the platform. This will soon calm down. We are going in three weeks and I am debating witing for the tiger cub or not.

Just wondering how you bypass the the queue when it’s all the way to Kali? Can you talk to the CM at the entrance?

You can bypass the line and walk tbe rest of the trail. I was there today and there were plenty of people who went around the line.
Thanks. I have seen baby tigers before at AK and in Pittsburgh, I can't see waiting hours for a potential glimpse.

:rotfl2:Of course I didn't see that! The extent of my Disney following is stopping here a few times a day for a few minutes. I doubt this will cause a line like the tiger though!
Definitely won’t cause a line! Bird social media isn’t exactly at the top of influencer lists 😆

Just so you know-not all those people are clamoring to see just any baby tiger. Basko is a critically endangered Sumatran Tiger, and his birth is a very positive hope for the future of the species.

Can everyone post their wait time? If anyone knows of a site that is tracking wait times please let me know. We will be there in 5 weeks and would love to see the line shorter.

Also - does Bakso come out at 9 am even though the park is open at 7:30 - 8 am?
Maharajah Jungle Trek opens at 9 AM before that you would just wait in the winding queue.

Normally at 9 AM the queue is entering from the Exit of Maharajah Jungle Trek. And it normally runs this way until after 12 PM when they switch to the normal Maharajah Jungle Trek Entrance. All this is always subject to change so check with a CM at the Maharajah Jungle Trek entrance.

Basko is free to enter the exhibit at 9 AM with his mom or remain backstage. He may appear at any time, stay for a while and nap where you are able to see him from the viewing platform. Currently he is often seen after 12 PM until about 1:30 PM.
