Aulani prices

We bought a subsidized contact in 2020 for $130, which was about $10 higher than most contracts, but decided it was worth it for subsidized. We have been to Aulani twice in the past 4 years and have decided a trip ever. 2-3 years is the right cadence, but would like more points to either stay longer or get a 2 bedroom.

Definitely have our eye on another contract but wanting the use year to line up and would love to find another subsidized contract.

Being Portland based we tend to be almost exclusively Alaska.

Miss Jet Blue flying into Long Beach.
Alaska has a great CC. I really loved flying Alaska frequently.

But for now, the only place I reliably fly to is Orlando. And for that, Southwest is pretty good! And honestly…companion pass is a great perk. I’d like to quit to fly Delta out of convenience but I can’t.

Wait until you find out about getting a companion pass by opening 2 credit cards…SW is the airline I just can’t quit. Even if sometimes I want to.
I wish I could hop on the SW companion pass train. SW flights out of where I live are terrible. They are a ton of flights, mostly all with layovers even when flying 2 hours away and all very expensive.

I got a Hawaiian card recently for the 70k with one purchase and companion fare. We have been flying Delta lately since they have a crazy monopoly at our airport. I will still probably fly Hawaiian to Aulani though since it's non stop and reasonably priced and hearing the Hawaiian music on the way is just 🤌

Interesting… you just call them and ask them for the difference?
As was said you just keep rechecking your flight and they'll give you flight credit for the difference. My wife does it for us and saves us usually a couple 50 to 100 dollars. Another pro tip with southwest is if you book early, they often will change your flight time by 5 or 10 minutes. When they change it, you can rebook your flight to a more desirable time for free within 2 weeks I think it is.

I’m going to have usually 1 or more layovers on almost any flight. Delta or American would be slightly more convenient as they fly from the podunk airport in our town and nobody else does. That would save me expensive parking and the long drive to the major regional airport. But it adds a layover, and American is probably going to route you through O’hare. And nobody wants that.

Our town airport was better pre-Covid. Now it’s quite expensive with fewer flights. But the convenience of flying out of a tiny nearby airport is very nice. Wish Southwest would fly from there. If any company adds a direct flight to Florida from here, I will probably start flying that route. It could happen.

We fly SWA to Hawaii even though it isn’t nonstop from Dallas because of CP and points. Our last visit straddled the new year, so both me and DW had CP on the way there, allowing both kids to fly for free. On our return flight, my CP expired 12/31/24, so we only had one CP.

But; we only had to use points for 5 out of 8 flights. Makes a huge difference!

I’ll going to be watching what happens with the Hawaiian and Alaska CC programs very closely this year.

I'm in Palm Beach and flying to ATL and then direct to HNL via Delta for my Aulani trip in November. Had to mess with the schedules to take advantage of the direct flight from ATL to HNL, but I think it's worth it.

we alternate depending on destination. I've got status on Alaska but I prefer to fly out of OAK and I'll book based on whomever has the best price and time combo for hops up and down the coast for the bay. Alaska kind of abandoned OAK when they bought Virgin, we lost most of our Hawaii flights and more than half our flights to Seattle and LA area. On the flip side, SWA has reduced the number of SEA flights too. :(

We have a small airport nearby I loved flying out of, its so easy security and walking wise. I moved an hour away from it recently when it used to be 20 min. It's all budget airlines though. I actually dont mind the budget airlines when I can find a good deal. In August I got a round trip to Orlando for $90!

This is like our situation. We have a small airport but it offers cheap direct flights to Orlando, which is part of why we can justify going to Disney so often (and buying DVC haha!). Usually under $100 round trip for each. But the downside is there is usually only 1 flight there per day, if at all.
