As a DVC member, can I buy a Sorcerer pass at DVC price for a non-member friend?

In December, my friend Dave is flying over from Texas to come with me for 5 days to Disney. He is not DVC - in fact, hasn't been to Disney World in many years which was part of the reason for the trip. In looking at prices to buy 5 day hopper tickets, and the fact he may come again next summer, if I could get him the Sorcerer pass it would work out nicely. I am unclear on the rules for the pass though - it mentions it must be purchased by a DVC member and ID shown to pick up, but if I purchase it, can it be assigned to him? Do I assign it at purchase, or on the first day when picking up the pass at the parks? In all the time I've been a DVC member, I've never bought an annual pass for anyone but myself and my family who were also members!

No. DVC annual passes are only available to members and their family members living in the same household.

While you could lie and tell Member Services he lives at your address, and they would sell you the pass, upon arrival, he would have to go to Guest Services and provide ID showing that his address matches the one DVC has on file for you. If he can't do that, they will either refund the AP purchase or require him to pay the difference between the Sorcerer's Pass and the Incredipass.

That's what I suspected...just wasn't sure. Thank you for the clarification. I'd rather not take any chances, so I'll just let him know either buy the full price AP or just get 5 days of tickets. If he comes again in summer, then we'll see what ticket sales are going on at the time and maybe we'll get lucky.

Have him check out the international deals on attractiontickets.com; with the exchange rate and the Black Friday sale it’s not bad. It’s technically a 14 day park hopper ticket with Memory Maker, but you don’t have to use the whole thing.
