Heading back to Disneyland next week for the first time since February 2020. (YAY!!) Going in conjunction with a conference so we are staying at the Embassy Suites down Harbor in Garden Grove. Looking at using ART to go back and forth since we will have to go back to the hotel in the middle of the day on Saturday. Also, my husband will be with me - I’m not sure if he will want to do the long day on Sunday or if he will want to go back to rest for a bit and then rejoin me and our friends.

Looking for reviews on how ART has been for folks recently. Looking at rope drop to close, with a trip back to the hotel in the afternoon.

I see that ART haS had an on demand during the middle of the day. Are they still doing this? Any tips? I’ve found little info on their website and reviews were not always the best but they are from awhile ago.

I know ART will be the less expensive option, be nice if DH wants to go back and rest, etc but if it’s going to be frustrating maybe Lyft/Uber is better? Is it hard to get a ride at close?

Love to hear your experiences!

ART is good in the morning and night. However, the on demand thingy during the day is not so great. You can easily waste at least 2 hours waiting for your bus. I would maybe do a combination and use Uber/Lyft during the day.

In the 'Before Times' when we stayed offsite at Motel6 Maingate we Uber'd in the morning to get there well before rope drop and we ART'd on the way back. I don't think we waited more than 5 mins in the morning for an Uber and no more than 15 mins at park close for the ART bus. It can seem like a looonnggg 15 mins though lol.

I don't know if the routes have been fully restored after Covid, but ART dropped us off right at the Motel 6 so we weren't walking on our own in the dark (3 females).

I agree with PP, unless DH doesn't mind adding 40 mins to an hour to his 'nap time' use Uber for mid-day breaks.

I was under the impression that the buses were on an every-20-minutes loop, and that there is an app you can check to see where your bus is. I have never been to Anaheim or used ART, I have just been researching it some. But it sounds like my research has led to inaccurate conclusions... ?

When we tried using ART in 2019 it was very inconsistent. Sometimes it was late, other times never showed up. We started just walking after a couple of days (Our hotel was 15-20 minutes way.)

Ugh. That’s what I was afraid of, that the on/demand thing was still in place and that it would be a huge waste of time. A combo might be in order. Thanks for sharing your experience.

We used ART years and years ago and it worked great but that has to be about 10 years ago. Three years ago I was with friends so we split Ubers back and forth.

Their website and app lack info. It was the reviews I found that tipped me off to the on-demand (and frustrations). I was so hoping that things were back to a normal route by now but it doesn’t sound like it :(

That stinks about the unreliability of ART. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I’ve done the walk back to the Embassy Suites with friends in the past - about a half hour. We also rode the shuttle to the Toy Story lot and walked from there. It was fine when we did just one park day but this time we will be there 3 days. I’d rather save my feet for park time!

The Embassy used to have a shuttle bus that you could pay for that was just used for the hotels in that area. It was nice when your feet are tired. We have used that, Uber, and walked.

I think we used that some last time too (Feb 2020) in combo with Uber. My understanding is that they don’t have it anymore - that it’s just ART. I might call and make sure.

ETA: I called - it’s just ART now. No more dedicated shuttle.

Bummer! It was a nice option.

Hijacking the thread. We are planing to use public transportation to go from our Anaheim resort to our universal resort. We would like to use the Metrolink and as far as I understand we can use the ART (and/or OC bus) and LA Metro with our Metrolink ticket.
What I don’t understand is how ART will get us to the ARTIC station.
Someone mentioned an on demand service, vor the we go app, but when I‘m trying to simulate a trip, it always tells me, that in demand is not available at this hours. But the „normal“ route to ARTIC doesn’t stop near our hotel, and with luggage we can not use the. Otmar busses and transfer at the Disney transportation hub.
So is OC or Uber/lyft the only solution for us?

You can go here and see the route and times via their live map. Not sure if that helps at all but can give you an idea.

We used it this summer with no issues. The longest we waited was 15 minutes and that was when we didn't check the app so ended up just missing the shuttle. We did mostly use it for morning and evenings my husband used it a few times for leaving in the afternoons and he said the wait was a little longer but not too bad.

ART Route 15 line to ARTIC no longer offers on-demand service by ART. Instead, they run on a schedule every 45 minutes from Monday to Friday. ART doesn't provide a listed schedule; you just have to trust them, but ART isn't the most reliable of services so you may be waiting awhile or miss a connection.

I recommend taking the train to Fullerton station and catching OCTA routes 43 or 543 to the parks. These buses run every 15 minutes and have published schedules, so you will know exactly when they'll pick up and drop off.
