Anyone use the new Universal Credit card?

A $300 credit isn’t particularly good for a new credit card. Do they still offer the $200 in gift cards up front plus the $300 statement credit after the $1000 in spend? $500 still isn’t that great for a new card but it’s at least reasonable and when you add in some of the other benefits it might get me closer to signing up. Normally my minimum for a new card is $600.
I think it’s one or the other not both. The $200 in gift card requires no spend. The lounge was okay. We just went in to check it out. I saw small bottles of water in fridges and small packaged snacks. We will probably actually utilize it next month a little bit. It’s the 4 % on Universal purchases that was semi interesting. But then points are cashed out into Universal Visa GC. I’m not sure how I feel about that. The process was painless and the GC came quick, so we’ll see. I will spend it next month.

Oh I agree that $300 isn't particularly enticing. But not being onsite to sign up and capitalize on the gift cards, if they are still giving those out, until Oct. would pretty much be a lost cause on the HHN EP then, would be sold out weeks before, at least from my past experience. The only way I was kind of looking at it was a free HHN ticket and EP for 1 person, cost was almost $300 for that night.
When we were there in July we saw them offering 2 free express passes for the day. Not sure if that was on top of the 300$ credit.
Oh ok, which wouldn't be worth it onsite since we're already staying at PBR, so those are included.

Thanks for the responses, really appreciate it.

Quick question, were you able to use it at any of the CityWalk restaurants and get the 10% off when you used it? Say at Cowfish or the Chocolate Emporium? Or was it only inside the parks that you received the discount? Also the lounge seems like a place to get away from the crowds and cool off from what you're saying, so that might not be so bad. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

On the food and merchandise discount list, neither of those are listed. There are a couple of City Walk restaurants including Antojitos, Bif Fire, Bob Marley, Pat O'Brien's, and VIVO along with some of the quick service eateries.

For merchandise discounts, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium store is listed.

I can’t answer that because I have a Premier AP and I always give them that for the discount. Hopefully someone can answer the City Walk restaurant question for you.

Anyone apply recently at Citiwalk? Curious what incentive they are currently offering in park. We are coming down in October, and mainly want if for the 10% discount. Looking at the no annual fee card. Thanks!

Family ‘twisted’ my arm to point this week & I needed to scramble to put a trip together in October.

After loading up cart with APs & HHN tix, a pop up appeared re their credit card offers.

Ability to put that unexpected, largish purchase immediately on the card with 6 months free financing. Even tho not in the market for any new CCs, figured ‘why not’ as I absolutely loved the monsters design they offered.

There’s a Jack one too

Have worked in commercial banking, by rote I read the fine print on CC offers. Went with the zero fee one.

The lounge offer appears to currently be tied to the $99 fee card as a perk. I took a pass on that, no real interest in it and will probably never use the card again, other than sporadically @ Universal, as I focus on accumulating air miles/points

Lowest interest rate offered on the “no fee” offering is currently: 21.99% up to 28.99%. Variable, Prime + sort. Scariest thing about these cards is the interest rate, wouldn’t keep any sort of balance on that CC

It’s a VISA signature sort. The offer in the parks might vary a bit, the current offer on website is available until 11/5:

Earn a $100 Statement Credit When you spend $1,000 within the first three billing cycles

2% Back in Rewards on qualifying Universal purchases & 1% Back on all other purchases.

Can you use the universal visa discount at the HHN tribute store at Uni Orlando? Be nice to get a discount on my HHN merch.

UGH!!! NO WAY!! That is awesome! I got mine about 3 weeks ago and that was available. I used it to purchase my HHN tix and Express Passes also. Hmm, wonder if I can get them to send me a new card :rotfl2:

Lots of help on here, thanks.
I am still thinking it for our trip this November. I have good perks on my main CC, so will have to weight that with the perks at Universal. The info here is wonderful.

Yeah - was thinking the same thing

FWIW I found the lounge to be pretty useful - it was really hot the last few weeks and the lounge rarely has anyone in it.
They have chips and breakfast bars as well as small bottles of water. So nothing special or exciting - but its a nice place to relax or check you phone etc.. Also a clean bathroom - the cleaners are in there very regularly. Its better than the AP lounge.

Also it is open from 5-7 for HHN if you want to wait in there.

Make sure you have an ID with you - they want to see that and the credit card.

Universal has definitely stepped up the game with getting the CC discount at dining/merch locations. The places that offer the discount seem to all have little placards near the registers, and the team members have all easily added the discount. Much better experience than when it was first rolled out.

Now for them to add the discount to the App for mobile orders...

Yep, I used it exclusively all last week and worked everywhere I needed. Cowfish even honored the 10% discount, which was a pretty nice surprise. I wasn't expecting that but the server saw it and said you get an extra discount. Plus with all of the 70% off HHN merchandise, adding in another 10% afterwards, my daughters were "drippin" with every thing they could find :rotfl2: My wife and I ended up learning that one at the Tribute store when our youngest basically walked out a Ghostbuster and told us lol.

But I'll definitely be keeping that and using again when we return. There was only 1 time that they had an issue trying to figure out the discount, but only took them a few minutes and wasn't a big deal and resolved it.

They were really trying to get people to sign up at the front of the parks, 2 free express passes, and between $100 - $250 in Gift Cards.

Anyone having luck getting the 10% discount with the Visa Card applied to the Mardi Gras food/beverage card? Coming down 4th week of March w/ Seasonal Pass. Planning to purchase a few of the $150 cards for $120. I know that are stacking the Preferred and Premier Pass 10% and 15% discounts on top of the $120 offer. Hoping they are allowing the 10% Visa discount off the $120.

I don't think the AP food/merch discounts offer an additional discount off the gift card itself - instead the AP discount can be used on food even if you pay with the discounted gift card. But you need to pay with the Universal CC to get its 10% discount, so it can't be stacked with gift cards. And unfortunately the food places consistently confirm you are paying with the CC before they put in the discount.
