Anyone use Mabel's Labels or other labels for kids' stuff?

We have some good Canadian label companies that seem very reasonably priced for custom ordered labels. Mabel's Labels ships all over the world, and has won several business awards, but there are several others as well: Stuck on You and Loveable Labels.

Anyone have any experience with these companies, or, similar label companies? I'm wondering how hard it is to remove the labels as we give mostly everything away to charity, and so I don't want our names on the stuff. I wanted to do my kids' first and last names, or, family name, but not if the labels can't come off. I found a few parenting blogs that said they could peel off the labels with effort so that they too could donate or sell stuff at a later date.

Any experience or helpful tips anyone has with kids' professional labels would be great!!

Thanks, Tiger :)

We have them all over everything. They bubble up a bit when they go through the dishwasher but are still easily read (so it's not a problem really for us) and I've read that if you put them on thing that will come into contact with sunscreen that the colors fade, but I think Mabel's was working on that so maybe it's fixed now.

You can also just use a colorful Sharpie! :)

I like labels better than sharpies, because you can remove them. The marker stays forever.

I buy my kids first & last names but sometimes I cut them and just use the last name (for stuff that will be passed on to family with the same last name) or the first name (they're unique enough).

If I'm concerned about removal on a specific item, I don't iron all the way across. This leaves a little piece hanging that i can easily pull off. But they come off anyway over time.

That's exactly why we are going to stop using Sharpies. I've given stuff away with just my daughter's initials, but I really want to be able to pass stuff on without any identifiable marks, especially for young kids who only receive hand-me downs.

Thanks for the great info everyone! Tiger

That's a good point about the Sharpie not coming off. I was really just thinking about sippy cups, etc. (things that you wouldn't sell or donate b/c they've had "personal contact"). But, actually, over time the Sharpie does come off in the dishwasher as well! LOL.

Like I said, we've used the ML (iron on and the stickie ones) and they've worked fine, but I haven't used them on things that I was planning on donating or selling. Their shoe labels come out easily when you're ready to pass those along.

Happy Labeling!

Thank you very much! Tiger :)

I use the Mabel labels id stickers. Love them, used them on tupperware, cups, backpacks, lunchbags......

I looooove Mabel's tag-mates - they stick better than any iron on label I've tried, wash after wash, yet you can still pull them off (with a bit of work and your fingernails) when you're done using them. So they're perfect for clothes you plan to give away/donate. I have also used SOY vinyl labels (for cups, etc) and was happy with them.

I just ordered a new batch of tag-mates for daycare clothes and a set of 411 wristbands from Mabel's for our DISNEY TRIP! Yay!!

I love  STIKINS no-iron no-sew labels from LabelLighthouse.com. They really stick great and you don't have to iron or sew :beach: I have washed mine for over 3 years now and they still look great. Best part - they also stick on shoes and water bottles and other stuff so you don't have to worry about buying different labels for different things
:thumbsup2.

Can you use the tag-mates in clothing without tags? Will they stick directly to the inside of the clothing?

For sippy cups and bottles, I have LOVED my "bimpy name orbit labels". They are like those rubber bracelets but fit around the bottle or cup. They don't come off easily (kid can't get them off) and can stay on in the dishwasher, microwave or boiling. They have many common first names already made, or you can order them to say whatever you want.

The 411 bands are the best. I just received mine for our Disney trip next month. Gotta love Mabels Labels.:woohoo:

Dear Moms,

:cheer2:
MADE IN THE USA…Cute icons, colors, shapes and sizes, AND Fonts!

I love this site:
Kiddotags.com

They are cost effective, they offer free shipping within the USA, they allow you to custom build your label using many cute characters, fonts and colors. NOT to mention how easy it is to order!
Oh! They offer low minimums and if you are on their NL they send out coupons, that save you money .
Lovin’ my Kiddo Tag’s!

I love Mabel's labels! I use the iron and tag mate ones, as well as the sticky labels for sippy cups. I've been able to remove both the tag mate and iron on labels but it takes a lot of work.

Mabel's labels are cute too. BUT, I love kiddo tags because they have so much more to choose from: 50 icons, 18 fonts and 10 different colors (different shapes and sizes) along with the fact that they are made in the USA, they offer great coupons and FREE SHIPPING in the USA.

I say in this economy support Made in the USA.

Best,
Debbie

It depends on what the clothing is made of, but I have stuck the tag mates directly to the clothes. Works fine on tagless tee-shirts and the like. We've had more trouble getting them to stick on fleece.
