Anyone planning a cash stay in the new Poly tower when it opens?

I'm thinking of spending a few nights at the new Poly tower in Jan. Any thoughts?

I'd been booked in a Duo Studio for August but decided to change to AKL.

Based on your other posts about upcoming construction at the YC, I would suggest you follow along as things roll out for the Dec. 17th opening of the Island tower. I am not sure they will have everything complete by 12/17 or in early January. When in January would you be considering staying at the Island Tower?

Then there is the massive construction project at the Polynesian as they move the front entrance, build a new dedicated Bus loop and finally the major construction coming for Floridian Way all the way past the Grand Floridan resort.

Seriously??? Is there anywhere other than the AKL without construction? I thought that this would be a safe bet with it new and just a month after opening. Are all those changes happening in Jan? I. was thinking that I might stay there for two days at the end of the trip, just to try it out as I'm curious what this place will be like. There is still construction at the Gf, I understand, and BLT is set for construction as well. Maybe we should stay outside....it's been years since I did that. But I love the Disney bubble!

Do you mind sharing why you changed? was it because of the upcoming resort changes and disruptions?

No - I don't stress about construction.

AK is by far my favorite park and I love the Lodge as well, I have a later entrance park day or 2 planned, and it was a little bit cheaper. Plus having a little more space in the room without having to put the bed up each morning . (And actually the AKL villas may be undergoing their refurb then as well since AKL Jambo and Kidani are due for refurbs in 2025.)

While there is no weekly schedule the new bus loop and the new entrance are expected to start right after the holidays. Oh and there are now issues with 2 Long houses at Poly and 2 Bldgs at GF due to Hurricane damage. We only have about 60 days left for the Island Tower to be complete and there are often issues that crop up in the first 30 days of opening.

Maybe book it but keep an eye on how things play out in the next 60-90 days.

BLT is already going with it's year long refurbishment and we still expect GF lobby work to restart after the New Year.

Maybe consider BWI / BWV they are currently done and nothing new has been announced. GDT at CRS has nothing scheduled currently but GDT does not have balconies. How do you feel about the Contemporary tower?

The other construction to start around Poly in January probably won’t have much impact on the resort itself. When the tower was being dugout and framed, the cash rooms on that side had to deal with some noise and unsightly views (though one person’s 2 year old loved it! Lol) But this stage is different I think. It’s just the road and lot. Inside the resort might be blissfully unaware anything is happening out on the street side.

This is all great information. Thank you.

I do have it booked at the moment, and I will keep an eye on the situation. All the possible construction that you mention makes me hesitant to keep it, though.

BWI is a possibility, but the corridors can be very long and some balconies are cramped (though not as small as those at the BC). DH prefers the Swan/Dolphin to the BWI but the prices are exorbitant (conventions, perhaps?) and I'm not thrilled that they don't have a bus stop at the MK anymore (TTC instead). Also, they charge for your vehicle, which irritates me a bit. Some rooms at the BWI require multiple elevators (mobility issues) to access them. Not a deal breaker, however, so maybe the BWI?
The CR is a good possibility, but I am not fond of the new room decor, the tower is expensive and the GW doesn't have balconies, only patios on the ground floor. Ground floor in the garden wing would be the perfect location, but that is not a bookable category and many people request that, so the odds are against us getting it. I need to consider this option. It may be the best choice.

I would love Gran Destino tower, but: no balconies!

Nothing is perfect. I have stayed at them all before. in good and not so good rooms, so I pretty much know what I want. The problem is partly that prices have risen so much that my former Club level options are out of the picture.

Thanks again for all your help and advice. It is much appreciated.

That's a happy thought! I hope that you are right! Thanks!

We have a 2 bedroom villa booked in February. What’s going on with the new Polynesian entrance? I’m excited to try out the new building

We have two deluxe studios booked for the end of February. This will be our first Polynesian stay. I’m hoping the construction around the resort won’t look too bad.

Well it is major construction that is scheduled to go through 2026. Will it impact you daily use of the resort no but you can't get to the resort without seeing it. If you only use the resort launches to MK or Monorail and only look out the right side you can avoid seeing it. However Disney always indicates you may hear construction noise after 9 AM.

As far as direct impact to DVC Studios the biggest impact would be to the Standard view Studios in Pago Pago that overlook the parking lot from the 1st (Sound), 2nd - 3rd (Visual / Sound) floor studios. How much actual work is going on during your visit in Feb. 2025 that is somewhat of a random bit of chance.

When you go to AK or HS and return you will see / hear / experience the various phases of the construction.

I won’t let the construction bother me - there’s always going to be something being worked on either at the resort(s) and/or the parks - which is probably a positive thing that upkeep and expanding continue. Still really looking forward to our 1st Polynesian stay and to experience the new tower on top of it.

I looked yesterday at the cash prices for the tower rooms and WOW very expensive. $1k for a studio room.
