If so, do you know of any special offers or coupons? I have one coupon I just printed from the internet for a ship on the harbour (buy one meal, get one free). Anyone have any other information? We'll be staying at the Westin Harbour Castle. Thanks so much!

I believe you are referring to Captain John's. I have never eaten there but J think it is a seafood resturant. From what I remember it is right next door to or at least a short walking distane to your hotel.

and you will find a great restaurant. Capt Johns in nice, seafood, it's a stationary boat/restaurant. Spaghetti Factory is not too far from your hotel and it's always nice and not too much $$$$$. There are tons of restaurants in that area. HAVE FUN

Yes, we love the Spaghetti Factory! Only a short walk from the Westin. And Captain John's sounds like the right name--I couldn't remember it when I was posting before. You're right that it's right next door to the Westin. We go to Toronto 2 times a year and I just love when I find coupons for good restaurants...just wondering if anyone knew of any coupons. We're leaving Tuesday (go Yankees!). ;)

my fave restaurant in TO is Ed's. It is beside the Princess of Wales Theater....ooooohhhhhh yummy steak and the best prime rib ever! And not terribly expensive either (I believe we ate for about 40.00)! They have neat areas for couples, that are private little rooms, with the table for 2 behind curtains! Very romantic!

TJA,
probably in the hotel lobby they will have tourist guide books that contain some coupons, too!!

:D :D

Have a nice visit!!

I agree that the Old Spaghetti Factory and Ed's are great places. The Organ Grinder is also fun.

But my absolute favorite would have to be Movenpick. Actually, this restaurant is part of a group of restaurants-the Marche restaurants.

Movenpick is set up like a marketplace. You go around and pick what you would like, and get a stamp on a card for every item you choose. It is a Swiss restaurant, so you will find choices from Italian, French, and German foods. All are made to order, right in front of you.

The only drawback to this place is that there can be a long wait for a table.

I don't have the exact address of Movenpick, but I know that it is in the same building as the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Thanks everyone!

Kaos Creator: Ed's sounds like it's our kind of place! Can't wait to try it.

SylviaM: Thanks for the tip...I hadn't thought about that.

I appreciate all of the responses. We're leaving tomorrow morning -- hopefully in no snow!

I think is closed, better call to make sure.

Hi TJA - I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Entertainment books, but you can now get a $20 Cdn and $32 Cdn (I think) version for Toronto and they offer many restaurants as a "buy 1 entree get 1 for free" deal. I'm not sure if that might be worthwhile if you visit twice a year, but we find we normally get our money back after 1 or 2 restaurant visits.

If you like steak, I can recommend 3 places (good but fairly pricey) in the downtown area which are all a fairly short taxi ride from your hotel.

1. Ruth's Chris (actually an American chain) at 145 Richmond West (416-955-1455)
2. Barberian's at 7 Elm Street (416-597-0335)
3. Carman's Club (lots of garlic) at 26 Alexander (416-924-8697).

If you enjoy a Sunday brunch, there's a wonderful one at Movenpick (the restaurant rather than the Marche). It's at 165 York Street (416-366-5234), and again is just a short taxi ride away.

Hope your visit is wonderful!

OK--I'll be sure Ed's is open before I venture up there, thanks for the heads-up.

CindyAnn: Thanks for your response! Yes, I have the entertainment card...but not the Toronto book. I'll check for coupons in the lobby of the Westin, and I'm definitely interested in your restaurant suggestions. Thanks again for your time.

I'm logging off now...we're leaving in 2 hours and I can't believe I'm still sitting at my computer!
