Anyone done a 3-resort split stay?

We always do split stays and enjoy them. Nowadays it seems (to me) more and more necessary as the DVC studios fill up insanely fast.

Since packing cubes are mentioned, I have a quick question. I used a packing cube long time ago once and felt it saved exactly no space. I know they weren't compression and the Zip lock bags seemed to work better. I keep reading about new packing cubes that compress. Has anyone used these and are they better than the old ones. If positive results, I'd be willing to try again.

We prefer not to check luggage so compression to some degree is actually more important than organization due to the fact our trips now are not with young children.

Personally I don't use packing cubes as a space saver - they're more of an organizational tool, especially for split stays. Instead of using one suitcase per person, I do one suitcase per LEG (so we only need to have one open and accessible at a time), and use the packing cubes to divide up my family's things by person.

I don't really find them helpful in the sense of saving space, only because suitcases have weight limits when flying. Compression might save me space but it doesn't save me pounds, and I already have a tendency to overpack!

We like to unpack once when we arrive on vacation (regardless of where we are staying) and only need to pack the day we are departing. Staying at 3 different places would be a hassle with unpacking/packing and where you put your dirty clothes. I don't think any specific type of luggage would make much difference. Seen some TV ads lately about a kind of expandable luggage, but as others have mentioned, the weight of what you are taking is still the same, even if you manage to squish it into a smaller space.

Many older threads on this topic. For some part of the day you won't have access to any hotel room which can also be an issue if you want to take a break from the parks.

I have used packing cubes that compress and ziploc bags. The compression does help if space is tight, but you then have to put the same items in the same cubes for the return trip. I don’t like putting dirty clothes in clean packing cubes, so this doesn’t help us much. I prefer ziploc bags for Disney trips because I can see what’s inside and write right on the bag.

FWIW, given the water park talk…the pool at Jambo is pretty lame. Large, but uninspiring. Take a 6 minute walk and the pool / water slide / mini water park area at Kidani is several times better.

Lat year we did a late booking for 5 nights and wound up doing a 3 resort split stay !!!...lol !! it was just me and my son and we never unpacked... Had a rental car so put our bags in the trunk for the day when changing resorts, it was actually fun staying in a different place every other night...it was 2nts 1nt then 2nts

Exactly!!! The primary purpose of packing cubes is organization. We use those cubes in suitcases like drawers in a dresser. Then we don't unpack much at all and are ready to move at a moment's notice. Moving day, we throw our toiletries in and zip up the suitcase and we're ready to go.

The only place that compression packing cubes work for me is in carryon bags where getting a few more items in at the start of the vacation is important to me. I have had to live with lost luggage, and it's not fun when you are not prepared. So, every inch counts in that tiny carryon.
