I do a LOT of knitting and am always making things for people who request special items. Often, these are hats. I made a neat one for myself some time ago and I must've left it somewhere in the resort in December because I discovered it was gone while I was there. I made a report to Lost and Found and retraced my steps etc but it never showed up and they closed the report. There were only 3 places it could have been so I imagine someone kept it.

I use my favorite wool (baby Alpaca) and very fine needles (size 1 or 2). That makes it easy to use more detailed designs. I actually make one hat, then start at the beginning and knit another in the opposite direction so one fits inside the other. That way it's reversible and I can have different things on each side!

My last hat was deer, trees, and typical Nordic stuff. This time I'd like to have one side Nordic and the other either Disney or Disney-inspired. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I've already nearly completed the deer side and am trying to decide what to put on the other side. I'd love to include some Disneyland nods so let me know if you have any ideas :)

Here's a hat I designed for someone you may know. It has the Monorail & Matterhorn. The other side has other nods to attractions he designed.11415466_10204690498842161_6082536372338711294_o.jpg11270502_10204690499482177_8686732101594810950_o.jpg

You are so talented, DizMe! Since you have Nordic designs on one side, what about Disneyland mountains on the other? You could have a little mountain range with Splash, big thunder, Space Mt, Matterhorn.

Or maybe you could use a club 33 design?

A hat with your DL favorites would be really cute!

You are a great knitter! For the other side of your current hat, how about something Nordic/deer related from Frozen? Maybe Sven?

I am a knitter and am now curious about your pattern. We will have to have a Disney knitting meet when you come next!

Do you follow Knit Dizzney on Facebook? They have a meet every year in September. We know the person who leads the group but sadly have never made it to the event.

I've been lucky enough to meet him several times :). I have a friend who knows him and I got to have dinner with them at Club 33 and a drink at 1901 (martini for Bob, of course!!!!), Once, several years ago, he took us around the parks and told us all about his early days. His contributions to Disneyland are something else. He was really just a kid when he started there and it's pretty amazing to think how much of Disneyland, especially in the early days, was due to Bob Gurr. Somewhere, on an old phone, I have recordings of a lot of what he talked about that day. He seemed really excited when I gave him his hat!

Oh, that's a great idea!! I love it!!

I also had a thought come to me in the middle of the night (blech) that I could maybe do a border or possibly even a whole hat based on the Disney trash can designs :)

No! But I'll look for it. Thanks! I'd love to have a meet-up, too!

The pattern was one I found on Ravelry. I'd love to hear what kinds of knitting you like to do :)

Oooo...good ideas!!!! I'm going to have to search for patterns to see if there are some already made. No point in reinventing the wheel, haha!!

Oh my! Bob Gurr?!?! How awesome. And I totally love that hat, it's perfect for him! You are so talented!

ETA some ideas for hats: it would be so cool if you could make a hat themed to each land!

Please please make the trash cans! Those are my favorite. People who look at my photo albums are like, "Ok, and there's another trash can...."

Too lucky!!!! OHHHH wow..... my mouth is on the floor

I don’t have a good suggestion for a motif at the moment - other than I think the alpine bloom patterns by Caitlin Hunter remind me of the 60s era IASW flowers!

However, may I suggest a motif in black light reactive yarn? I knit a pressed flowers cardigan for my November trip and it was so fun to glow 😂
