My daughters teacher wants us to send in 100 of something to celebrate the 100 days of school. I have thought of the usual M&M's,pennies, jelly beans etc. I was looking to send something different. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Last year I sent DD in with a box of 100 paperclips! It was what I could come up with at the last minute raiding our office supply drawer.

They do use the items to make crafts. Paper clips can be linked to make chains.

Another easy one (but you have to actually count) are elbow macronis - easy to glue in arts & crafts.

I'm not a scrapbooker, but I love buying their supplies -- especially the Disney stuff.

I used my handy Mickey head hole punch and sent DD off to school with a poster featuring 100 Mickey heads.

This one takes a lot of advance planning but you might consider it for next year. I save up box tops for education and the last two years I managed to put together 100 of them just in time for the 100th day of school. I sent them in with my daughter and after showing them to the teacher she puts them in the central collection box for the school. This way our 100 things benefits the school (100 BTFE = $10.00).

Gotta keep my eye on this thread.. My DGD has to do the same thing and we've been so busy just trying to get her through this recovery from her surgery we haven't even given it a thought!

ours was 2 weeks ago - and it fell on my regular volunteer day so I got to see lots of great ideas.

100 items

shark's teeth (from the Florida beaches (gulf side)
crayons
buttons
cotton balls
balloons
golf balls (from daddy's shagball bucket)
golf tees

we did chocolate chips - counted out 100 for school and made cookies with the rest of the bag.

my favorite idea was their snack for the day. the teacher went to the store and bought 10 different small snack items, they needed to be peanut free. each child took a baggie and then counted out 10 of each item, for 100 snacks.

goldfish
raisins
skittles
froot loops
cheerios
popcorn
pretzels
chocolate chips
gummy bears
mini marshmallows

For our 100th day this year the kids had to bring in 100 snacks to share (OK... easy enough)
But, they were also asked to WEAR 100 items! :confused3
(only 4 kids out of 23 did that part)

I bought a couple of packagees of basic pony beads and a few matching smiley face beads. DD made a 100 bead necklace. It turned out really cute. It was a big hit at school, she had a great time doing it and she practiced her pattern skills.

My DD's 100th day is Monday. We started collecting postcards in October. How about 100 emails and you can get a map of the US and mark where each one came from. I know your Dis family would help you with it. :thumbsup2

This is a fun idea. I'm sure if anyone wanted to do it, some of us fellow DISers could contribute some box tops. I know I have some that I've been saving (I usually give them to a neighbor a couple times a year).

I stole this idea from my friend's daughter's ideas list. You can take 100 goldfish crackers and glue them to a fishbowl that you've added to a poster board. I'm not very creative so I may just do this one! My kindergartener has to take something next week too.

We just did this last week...The teacher asked we bring in something edible since they would use it for snack time. I sent 100 Teddy Grahams..DD brought home a baggie full of everything everyone brought (left over from snack time). Her teacher put it all in a huge bowl and mixed everyone's snacks together. They called it trail mix. She loved it.

A friend from another board made a t-shirt with her son last year. They stamped 100 dinosaurs on the shirt with fabric paint. I thought it was a really cute idea!

My first grader has to bring in 100 items on Monday. I like the Box Top idea...I'll have to go count and see if I have enough!

What about 100 stickers? Easy and light to carry! Man we NEVER had 100th day when I went to school!!! Or what about a 100 smilies.... :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :teeth: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
HA HA you didn't think I would do a hundred! (actually it wouldn't let me! LOL)

My son is only 3 but guess I'll have to do this some day, so taking in all the ideas! I had never even heard of this before. Guess it has been too long since I went to school!

How about birthday candles? That is what DS did a LONG time ago when he was in school.

dd just turned her 100th day project in today. she picked a 100 piece puzzle from the dollar store.( its the United States Puzzle) It worked out perfect since she had to do a row of 10 each. the teacher raved about it.

here is a pic of my proud daughter

My DD is going to bring in 100 chocolate chip cookies and a box of 100 plastic baggies to bring them home in. There are 25 kids in her class including the teacher so that would be four cookies a person.

Although............I really like the box top idea, LESS WORK!! I am going to count them now!
