Annual Pass renewal question

My sister recently renewed her annual pass. She has no park visits since renewal and does not have an expiration date listed on her MDE.

We/I assumed renewals would always be calendar years based on first entry.

My question is does a renewal on annual pass reset first the entry date?

Specifically I am currently expiring in January but due to school schedule I will not get back until June. If I renew our Sorcerer Pass does the renewal start in January or June (when we enter park)?

Renewals are a continuation of your old pass..which is why we get the discount to renew.

So, it’s resetting in January if you renew, even if you don’t enter until June.

With that big of a timeframe, I’d just pay for a new pass so you can have a start date of June.

With renewals, sometimes the new date doesn’t show until you enter. That happened to me last year.

My pass expired ilin March 2nd, and I renewed. Didn’t see that date until I entered the park on March 18th.

Thank you @Sandisw and @Akck . That was the answer I was expecting but it wasn't clear based on the information I had on hand.

We may go down in February, if so we will renew. If our first visit is June then we will expire and rebuy.

Thanks again.

Long ago it used to be that an annual pass renewal's start date was the day after the expiration of the pass being renewed. That was then changed to have the start date be the same day as the prior pass expired, and that is the current start date.

Long ago the renewal date did not start until first entry. Could have been a huge lapse in time between expiration of original and start of renewal clock.

I researched it some time back… I believe 20+ years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
I guess that means I’m old.

I remember that, too. It doesn't seem that long ago to me, either. But then I AM old. (and enjoying every minute of it). :teeth:

I should have been clearer, the time I was referring to was since the time DVC members could start buying discounted annual passes, which was in 2005, and at that time, and for some years after, the renewal pass started the day after the expiration of the annual pass, e.g., buy a pass for 7-years in a row and your start date would be a week later than when you bought the first one.
