Disney Movie Review - Alice: Through the Looking Glass: (2016). James Bobin's Alice sequel continues where Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland left us and I wish I could say expectations were met, but the it falls short for me. While the visuals are amazing and the performances, for the most part deliver, the fragmented story left me "curiouser and curiouser". Burton's Alice was a fresh, bizarre take on Lewis Carrol's strange world. The sequel sees Alice (played once again by Mia Wasikowska) travel back to Wonderland to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) while facing off with the character of Time, played by a somewhat subdued Sacha Baron Cohen in the calmest role I've seen him in so far. Along the way, adventure takes over and historic wrongs get righted. Overall, it's not a bad film but not a good one for me. My 10 year old son "loved" it. Especially the twists and turns that tie this series up nicely. My 7 year old daughter "liked" it. They were never scared or bored. I give it 2 1/2 giant mushrooms. Next up for Disney is Finding Dory.
