Alegria shoes or similar?

I'm wondering if anyone has experience wearing Alegria shoes, or something similar? I know Danskos and Sanitas are probably the closest similar shoes.

I have bunions on both feet, and struggle finding shoes wide enough. I also have back issues. I tried on a pair of Alegria Paloma's last night and it was like heaven! Right out of the box, that is pretty amazing for me. However, they are pretty pricey, at around $100, so I'm trying to find out if they're worth the investment in the long run.

My husband says to buy them. He feels that I dont treat my feet well enough considering the issues I have. But it still pains me to spend that much on one pair of shoes!

Just buy them! My goodness, woman! Get your feet comfortable! :rotfl:

I had to give up wearing flip-flops because of plantar fasciitis. I do all I can to make it through a day shopping or at Disneyland now.

This sounds just like DH! He says I spend way too much time overthinking purchases. I say I'm just frugal!

I wear Dansko sandals and love them. I have wide feet and bunions and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

The first pair was so great I bought 5 more! They are worth every penny. I really need a pair of navy sandals and they haven't had them for the past two years! Hopefully they will have some this coming summer.

You won't regret getting those shoes.

I have a pair of Alegria in a Mary Jane type style. They are the most comfortable enclosed shoes I own.

I'm curious on the width of the Danskos. Do they rub on your bunions? And are they flexible?

I'm a nurse and wear Alegrias all the time at work. They are pricey but last well and the insoles are replaceable. I also have very wide feet and high arches and cannot wear Danskos even in wide. I tried the Paloma and found that the back scraped my heel. I like the models that have the padded leather collar at the heel like the Belle, the Keli and the Dayna.

All of the closed shoes with replaceable insoles can be made wide by simply putting in the wide insole (it's available online from the Alegria site but it's less expensive on Zappos and Amazon). The wide insole is a bit thinner which lets you sit lower in the shoe and gives your foot more room. The shoes always feel a bit stiff at first but after just afew hours start to conform to your foot and are super comfortable. FYI- the one drawback of the replaceable insoles is that they make the shoes squeaky but that's easily fixed by putting a little powder under the insole.

ETA- the Zappos clearance site 6Pm.com has Alegrias and the Alegria site has a clearance section also.
