Anyone else out there where these lenses and have problems? I have worn contacts for over 20 years and never had a problem until about 8 months after starting to wear these.

I get little bumps under my upper eye lid and they make my eye very uncomfortable. The Dr told me it's because of the material that the lenses are made out of, it's thicker and must rub. I was just at the eye Dr a few weeks ago and was given drops to help, which it did. Now here I am with more problems and after reading online about all the problems others have had because of these, I know I need to find a new brand. I have no plans of wearing them again.

Anyone have any suggestions??

No, no problems. I have worn mine for years now and they are great. So sorry you are having problems.

I'm so glad you haven't had issues because this is NOT fun. I didn't have any issues with them either until March. Then all of a sudden things changed. :sad1: (before that I thought they were great too!)

That's the brand I've worn for a couple of years, and I've never had any problems with them. In fact, it doesn't feel like I'm wearing contacts at all. I have had problems with contacts before, though, and I know how miserable it can be. Hope you find a brand that works better for you!

I had trouble with daily wear for a long time. I would get those little bumps on the underside of my eyelids and it was excrutiating! I was very photophobic. Finally I switched to Oasys - problem solved!

But the reason behind the bumps was due to buildup on the lens. Even though I felt like I was cleaning them well enough, I never was, and the buildup would irritate my eyes. Could this maybe be it? You have some sort of residue on your contacts that your eyes are very sensitive to? Are you diligent about having clean hands, and cleaning your lenses well? Just a thought!

I feel the same way when they aren't a problem. They were so comfortable. I'm so bummed!!!

I think I'm going to go back to the ones I wore for 20 years. I never had problems with those.

Can't be that, I wash my hands before touching them and wash/rinse them very well. It even happens with brand new ones fresh out of the package. So frustrating!!

I'm starting to think there are just different lenses/materials that are okay with certain people's eyes and not others. :sad2:

I can't wear the Acuvue Oasys either. My eye doctor prescribed them to me after I had worn Purevision's for years, the Oasys made my eyes blurry I could barely see out of them. I went back to the Purevision's and have had not problems.

I had the "bumps" with a different brand of contacts. My eye doctor said it was an allergic reaction. I had to stop wearing contacts until it cleared up and then switched to another brand. (Surprisingly, the Oasys for one eye and the O2 optix for the other -- I do the monovision thing.)

Hope you find a solution! (speaking of that, have you maybe changed solutions and that's the problem? Just a thought.)

Edie

Have you changed solutions? I this happen a few years ago right after I switched to a store brand solution... also my eye dr told me to use Opti-free with these contacts, and to change the case every 3 months..HTH

Sorry-- no help here. I LOVE Oasys... they do not feel like contacts at all.

I had the exact same issue as well. I have been wearing Acuvue2s for years on end now and had never had trouble. My doctor gave me sampels of the Oasys and within 20 mintues I couldn't see well at all. I tried a new brand similar but by a different maker and it did the same thing.

My doc said up to 20% of contact wearers do not do well with these "new" type of lenses so I stick with the old type now. Plus they are no where near as expensive as the Oasys.

At least I know I'm not crazy. (about this anyway)

Nope, haven't changed solution or anything. Guess they're just not the right ones for me. I'll be calling the Dr first thing in the morning.

Thanks for the input everyone!!

Sorry they don't work well for you. They work great for me and really help my dry eye problems.

Just keep it in mind for the future in case it starts happening to any of you. I loved them and thought they were great for awhile too. :guilty:

OMG, my eye doctor made me think I was crazy but I had terrible problems with them!

HATED them! I had problems almost every day for months. Finally got fed up and went back to the eye doctor. Had some weird bumps under my top eyelid that was a reaction to the Oasys. My doctor put me back in the Acuvue Advance and I am a new person. No more blurry vision..no more feeling like something is stabbing me in the eye...don't even feel like I am wearing contacts at all now.

Do you have seasonal allergies? My DS14 gets little bumps on his eyelids when his allergies are acting up. The eye dr took one look in his eyes and the first thing out of his mouth was "do you have allergies"? It could possibly be that as well. He has to wear a high water content contact and doesn't have issues with those.
