A Question for my fellow Baggallini fans

I absolutely love my Baggallini messenger sling backpack, which I've probably had for about 15 years! It has been perfect for the parks. I love that I can swing it from front to back (so I don't have to take it off to get into it) and it holds everything I need - including a scrunched up light-weight sweater or poncho, mini umbrella and water bottle. But it finally bit the dust last trip. I was planning to simply order a new one, but reviews of the latest model are mixed. I don't like that they removed the Velcro side pocket (where I usually store my phone) and the mesh side pocket. People complain that that you can no longer hold a water bottle on the side and that the strap isn't padded anymore.

Sooo... I'm looking for reviews from anyone who has the newer version and/or suggestions for an alternative. I don't want a regular backpack, or something too small to hold water and other essentials. And I like the swing design with easy access. (I have a nylon mini backpack, which is good for size, but have to take it off to get into it... which I hate.)

Thoughts appreciated!!!

Sorry, I can't help you with the Baggallini. I've never owned one.
I recently ordered the L.L.Bean Stowaway Day Pack for our upcoming Disney trip. It has several of the features you mentioned, but not the sling aspect.
Hope you find what you're looking for.

Thank you for the suggestion! I will check out that bag.

The Baggalini Everywhere Cross-body bag is my park bag. If you're willing to give up the sling design, it's a great bag.

We have the gold Cairo baggallini. It holds a ton and the straps zip together so you can sling it across your body. It even has a nice zippered pocket for your cell phone that is easy to access, but secure.

I like this bag very much! Only thing missing for me is a water bottle holder. Can you fit one inside?

Yep. When we were in WDW this past May, we were able to fit:

-A brita sports water bottle (to filter the icky water taste)
-A pair of flip flops
-Two umbrellas
-Two iPhones
-A MyCharge device for the phones
-A point and shoot digital camera
-A small bottle of sunscreen
-A stick of sunscreen
-The included wristlet with all of our cards
-And various odds and ends like ibuprofen, eye drops, sunglasses, bandaids, napkins, etc

Our friends called it the bag of wonder. Now granted with all of that, it was stuffed to the gills, but it is well designed to really hold and organize quite a few items for its size.

Awesome! One last question... can you sling the bag across your body, or just your shoulder? It appears as though straps are not adjustable, so that may depend.

I feel like the straps are really long on ours because I can sling it across my body if I want to. My wife can too. It is super versatile. We're both average build and it is comfortable (i.e. not super tight) to wear that way if we want to. It is really nice being able to adjust the straps throughout the day so your body doesn't get tired from it continually hanging on you the same way.

Very good point. I think I am sold! Thanks so much for the suggestion!!!

Sorry...thought of one more question! Can you get into the bag without taking it off? Wondering if I can get to my phone or wallet while I'm wearing it. I must sound crazy... but I guess I'm picky!

I completely understand. One of the big selling points to me was the zippered pocket on the back of the bag. When wearing it like a backpack, I can reach back one handed, unzip the pocket, and pull out my phone. It is very nice.

To get into the main compartment, you'd have to pull the bag around to the front of you if it is behind you because the zippers (at least on ours) are pretty secure and don't slide down as easy as a traditional backpack, so you'd have to hold the bag with one hand and unzip with the other.

Yeah, I hate it when Baggalini gets rid of useful features.

Lesportsac and kipling have washed up better, and I've liked kipling especially. It's minimalist (fewer pockets) compared to baggalini but more practical.

One thing to note, if you are an Amazon Prime member you can get free shipping and returns on that bag, and many others. It's great to get the bags and see how the feel and fit your stuff, and being able to send them back for free if they aren't right for you.

I was debating about the bag, going back and forth, then decided to check Amazon Prime. It has been unavailable on there, but today it popped up as an Amazon Prime Day special. So I got the bag for $35! Very excited! Thank you for the advice. :)
