A few weird things we saw people do on our trip

Ummmm......they don't take their feet off to go swimming in the resort pools. I'm just sayin....:rolleyes1

ETA- and more than their stinky feet goes in those pools.

Yes, but the resort pools are highly chlorinated to kill germs. Since the intention for that fountain was not for people to put their feet in it, I doubt it is chlorinated.

Not an expert here but I would think that in the Florida heat, the fountains would be at least somewhat chemically treated. It is the same water being used over and over. It does get circulated, but, with birds and feet soaking tourists, I would think it is disinfected.

Ugh, I know what you mean! Think before you speak people! Thanks for killing the magic for all the kids around you!:furious: .

I was tempted to send them a letter stating that my kids' presents from Santa would not be bought there because thanks to their mindless marketing department she now knew he didn't exist!:rolleyes1

WHAT?!!! Santa isn't real???? Tell me it isn't so!
I know what you mean. We have Camp Snoopy here at our local amusement park and experienced the same thing. An older lady trying to get her grandson away from Snoopy to do something else. He was only about 2 or 3- when he wouldn't do what she wanted she very angrily told him it was just a highschool kid in a costume. The poor little guy just fell apart and so did 2 other little ones not part of his group. The woman got lots of angry looks from people!

Grrr....growl...OK OK...

First one: we were waiting in line for the safari in the AK, which was moving relatively nicely (we didn't use the FP because the wait was less than 30 minutes). There were the 6 of us, myself and my 2 kids and my relatives in line. Waaaaaaaaaaay up ahead were 2 Brazilians and waaaaaaaaaaaay behind us came the rest of Sao Paolo, complete with baby strollers, mothers-in-law, neighbors, and a couple of sherpas thrown in to carry all their stuff, and they wer "con permisso"-ing their way up the line - in America we call it cutting - trying to get up with the first 2 as if they were Lewis and Clark. Well one unfortunate Brazilian ran her stroller into the back of my leg (and I really am sure it was truly an accident) while doing the con permisso dance. I turned to her and said "excuse me?" and she said "no speeeek eeengleeesh" and I said "no speeeeek spaneeeesh" and the crowd got no further - so sorry the 2 at the top of the line had to go on safari by themselves...

This has got to be the best story thus far! Please tell me how you were able to stop them from going any further (to the front of the line). I sometimes get annoyed at those who have one runner who gets in front of everybody getting in line and the rest of the family is a mile behind who then have to do the "excuse me" thing to catch up.

thinking about it, you're probably right. for some reason i still find it gross though! lol

True..but when you brave the pools, you kind of figure that you may see some nasty feet(and other body parts). Don't really expect to see people soaking their dogs in Cindy's fountain. I have an issue with feet , though.

Actually, I really try not to think about what may be in those pools either. And I won't go soak in the hot tubs, especially after I listen to some of the vacation stories of friends, coworkers, etc.(cue porno music here..) It is also posible to pick up various nasty creepy crawlies(genital warts anyone?) if the hot tubs aren't hot enough or chlorinated enough. Sometimes, I wish I didn't pay quite as much attention in Microbiology class!:rotfl:

Science and education, the two things standing between us and a happy life. :duck:
You have a point! Trust me, I would love to go soak in the hot tub but I just can't do it now..I came close at POFQ but overheard someone say that it wasn't all that hot-kind of lukewarm. At least if it was hot, I may be able to delude myself that I'd be OK but I've heard too many horror stories.

When I was still in training at my first nursing job, one of the preceptors told a story about this woman in her old apartment complex that had genital warts and would dry her stuff in the communal dryers in the laundry room. Soon after, other people started turning up with them. I researched this and lo and behold, HPV doesn't have to be spread during relations. It can be spread during more casual contact. Freaked me out!!

Ok, I've managed to turn this thread into a PSA...sorry!:badpc:

Hmm ........true love.....or genital herpes.......only one of em is forever ;)

Say no more...I was married to a Nurse for 29 years and she was able to conjure up the worst case scenario's at a moments notice. Like I said, too much education can ruin the heck out of life.

I could be wrong, but, I think that casual contact means a little less casual then clothes in a dryer. And why the dryer, it seems to me that the likelihood of transference would be in the washer. Casual contact, I think would mean actual non-sexual, physical contact with the person. Just a thought.

Yeah, I'm not really sure of the likeliness of the dryer story but from what I've read, warts in general "shed"..So it is possible to spread the HPV basically from skin to skin contact or through a bench in a locker room or gym(that's why I always put a towel down). Even if someone has warts on their hand, certain types can "transfer" from one area to another. I'm trying to be discreet with how I phrase things seeing how this is a family board.:lmao: ;)

Same thing with cold sores on the lips..those can also transfer to other areas...

OK, how about some local perspective: "All Disney Theme Park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times."

So you would prohibit parents from letting their little children take off their shoes to run in the dancing waters type stuff? Or take a little boy's wet shirt off to do the same?

Where does it end?

I figure if you aren't putting YOUR feet in the fountain, what do you care?! I mean, short of some rotted toe dropping off of a leper into the water and floating around, how does it hurt anyone else?

And yes, those waters are chlorinated and filtered as well. Not as much as a pool surely, but I am surprised most people can't smell that when they get near those pools and fountains? It's how they stay so clean and blue!

Then again, maybe you couldn't get close, what with all the lepers who are bathing in it and blocking your view!
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

ITA..actually when I first saw that picture, I assumed the people in it were American. Don't care where they are from, still gross. Feet are nasty to begin with and it's always the people with the bunions, corns, foot fungus, rancid foot odor problems and corn chip toenails that decide to take their shoes off  :headache:

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! Feeeeeet! (I don't have em, I'm a mermaid...heeheehee) GAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Feeeeeeeet!!!! Go away bad images! Be gone from my minds eye!:magnify:

HAHAHAHA!!!:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
I have to agree. After studying microbiology for many years, there are a few things I won't do anymore and places I won't go...There are too many creeeeeeepy crawlies out there...even tho as a kid in the 1950's and 60's we ate dirt and got exposed to everything going around.
There are just somethings I don't want or need. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!:scared1:

I had one thing happen when I was at the Studios Park a couple yrs ago. I came out of a stall to run into a BIG kid of about 13 or 14 yrs old in the women's room. He was looking around with a sh*t eating grin on his face...I was stunned. I know small kids come in with their mom's and I have no problem with that, but this kid was too big! When his mom came over to get him after she had washed her hands and he was just looking all around him, I told her he was too old to be in the women's room and should be going to the men's room. She replied that he was not old enough to go by himself! Now if she was afraid to let him go alone, or he had issues, she could have gotten a male CM to help her out, but that kid was defitinely aware he was in a women's room and enjoying it. He was way too old to be in there.

Yeah, that kid sounds like a perv in training...at my gym, they were giving a tour to these 2 women and they had an 11/12 year old boy with them. I was in the locker room getting ready to leave(I was dressed by then) but there was a woman in one of the showers. The gym worker brought the family into the ladies locker room and didn't say anything when the boy came in too. I said something, and the 2 women got mad!

Sorry, but a "normal" 13or 14 year old should be able to use the bathroom by himself. Sounds like the MOM had issues too.

:furious: What really creeps me out are men who blow their nose by closing one nostril then the other so that stuff comes out without a tissue. I am always behind them in line. And I know gross, I love being a wound care nurse.
