A BIG surprise on the Disney Wonder

So I came across a bit of a surprise that I do not remember reading anything about. Cruise with Ben and David’s YouTube channel posted a video last night of their cruise in Australia. They cruised in a one bedroom concierge suite that has been completely gutted and redesigned. The amount of money Disney put into the bathrooms alone, makes me think they are planning on keeping the Wonder around for at least ten years. They could have put in new carpet and drapes, bought new furniture and made some changes in the bathrooms, but they chose to go big and rip everything out, even reconfiguring the bar, storage, and Murphy bed areas along one of the walls. The spaces are beautiful! I do feel they are missing a little of the Disney charm, though, especially in the bedroom area. My family got to enjoy an amazing cruise in this room. So nice to see Disney put so much love (and money) into creating such a beautiful space. Here’s to at least ten more years!

Redoing the Concierge suites is great, but if they want to keep the ship for 10 more years, they need to redo the rest of it. Have they done anything to the other 800 rooms?

Usually DCL announces when they are making changes to the ships. I hadn’t heard anything about any big updates. This was not done during a dry dock. I do not know when the next one is scheduled for the Wonder or Magic. Will be interesting to see what happens then.

Magic was dry docked last year for about three weeks in May I think. They added Soul Cat lounge, increased the number of concierge rooms, remodeled the concierge lounge, and the concierge suites got renovated. Not sure if the standard concierge rooms got any upgrades.

Wonder was only dry docked for two weeks in Sep 2023. They must have redone the suites then.

Can anyone tell me about a Navigator Veranda? I'm booked for the Alaskan cruise and asked for a Veranda. I am very new to cruising and wasn't aware there were huge differences. I just read over my itinerary and saw that I was placed in a room with a Navigator Veranda. When I pulled up some pics, it looks more like a room extension with a large porthole and limited views. It reminds me more of being in a fish bowl. That's not what I imagined.

It's still a verandah with an outside portion. The biggest difference is that rather than glass below the handrail of the balcony you have white metal that makes up the structure of the ship, so you won't necessarily be able to sit down and see through the bottom portion like a glass verandah. If you booked through a travel agent and you have your heart set on a glass verandah you'll need to converse with them to have it changed. If you booked direct through Disney, you'll need to call them. However be aware that the other verandah categories do cost more, the Navigators are the cheapest verandah rooms available.

This probably would have worked better as its own topic rather than bumping a 2-month old thread about a totally separate topic.

We have been on 4 Disney cruises so far and had a 7A Navigator's Veranda each time (twice on the Magic and twice on the Wonder) pretty much the same room each time on deck 6. As stated earlier the big difference is that the navigators don't have the glass below the handrail. We actually like having the large porthole as you called it. It helped to protect us from the wind and weather on our Alaskan cruise, we could sit on the benches and relax and not have the wind hit us. Same when looking out the porthole, the area isn't as exposed so the wind wasn't as bad.

We have a B2B scheduled for 2026 on the Wonder and will be in the same 7A Navigator's Veranda that we had the previous two cruises on the Wonder :)
