2025 Wine and Dine

Has this race weekend ever been entirely in October in the past? Also why are they just giving this weird sneak peek? Last year at around this time they revealed the full schedule for the upcoming season.

Anyway, here it is:

BTW ive been a tiny bit tempted to pair this race weekend with a trip to Epic Universe but that was under the assumption that it would happen in early November. Not sure how I feel about dealing with Halloween crowds at WDW AND Universal.

Agreed why just a small portion and not the whole schedule?
Looking further it seems like registration is significantly earlier now. For DL Halloween it was in February this year, now it’s two months earlier. There’s a good question as to why *that’s* happening but if they’re going to have registration be way earlier, they have to get the word out about it.

Here’s a thought: what if they want to shift the race “season” like they’re shifting CrD benefits to the calendar year? Instead of announcing the 2025-2026 “season”, they could make one announcement for all 2026 races. Would be less confusing for newbies. Not sure if it’s feasible though, i guess we have to wait to see.

It used to be even earlier!

Oh that’s a hard no for me.

Yes! I did the 5K in 2010 during the inaugural weekend. It was really fun since the parks are decked out super early for Halloween, but it was humid. It was my first rD event and you could say I got hooked. The 5K runners even got a ticket to MNSSHP that weekend since the half runners got the after party.

I did the half, which was a night race so the temperature wasn’t too bad. And instead of blue Powerade when you crossed the finish line, you got a free beer! This is why W&D is always my favorite race weekend.

The logo has a very Toy Story feel to it. And the moon on the logo....wouldn't it be nice if it meant a nighttime race?
I was thinking the same thing…. But also reading into the moon/sun image the line in it’s a small world “there is just one moon and one golden sun”

With something like this drop, does a blog post typically follow closely? I'd imagine they want something to accompany rather than just change the header and don't say anything. I'm new to RunDis so not sure how this typically runs.

They’ll post details of DL Halloween sometime in the next few weeks, since registration starts next month. I don’t know what to expect otherwise since this is unusual for them.

If you’re expecting something more substantial from them about this specific announcement today, probably not.

I floated this theory last year and I do think they are still planning to shift to the calendar year. It just makes more sense.

As for registration shifting earlier, my hope is this means more opportunity for advance planning and ordering... and MAYBE even more pre-order merch?? The earlier they have registration number estimates, the sooner they can plan for everything else.

They could also do first half of the year announcements, then second half, that would fit with what’s happening here. NYRR does something similar, although I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same, they recently posted registration dates for the first races of 2025 and opened up registration for most of them (a couple are lottery based).

I like the artwork but I can understand the vibes it's giving aren't for everyone. Any slueths with guesses for themes? The sun instantly reminded me of Rapunzel but that definitely isn't her sun so I doubt that's the case. I can sort of see the Toy Story that @jmasgat mentioned.

Ultimately, it really won't matter to me as I'm not going to register regardless. It's just fun to guess. Unless they do actually change to a night race, in which case I would move the sun and moon to be there 😆

When rD started, the race dates were clearly set to draw people to the parks during down times. Things have evolved and there really are no down time any longer, yet the dates have just kind of stayed in the same spots. I wonder if new rD management is taking a step back to look at what might actually make logistical sense now? I can see them moving things around a bit, except maybe (selfishly) MW.
