2025 Moonlight magic

The one per season is new. It was always one per park.
Thanks for confirming, it’s what I thought but we’ve only been members for 2 years so I thought maybe this was the old way before 2020’s pandemic threw everything out of whack.
If you planned two trips within the winter season around MM - rather unfortunate that they provide this change within 30-days, but hopefully it increases your odds of getting registered for at least one of the events.
We did, we actually already had the WDW trip on calendar (lines up perfectly with a random 3 day weekend for my kids), but we grabbed a VDH reservation (we are locals) to attempt our first ever DCA MM (DHS would be first ever also)… I would like to get those points back because MM in DCA should have been a near lock and there’s no reason for us to spend a Monday night in VDH if we can’t go.
I think this is what they were going for.
I am ok with it from a fairness perspective, but I STRONGLY think it should have been announced more than 30 days out.

I knew about the once per season before this recent email- I think it was in something from last Fall, not something they just added in this week... maybe it was on the site they link to in the emails?

A recent round had 3 or 4 AK dates (one each month) and they limited one date per membership, though they did allow a 2nd MM at AK within the year. Maybe that was the stepping stone between changes. Now it will stay one per season regardless of park?

Maybe it was a stepping stone, it's effectively the same.

Limiting per season seems like it's to prevent people going just for the event because it's not exactly common to be there a few weeks apart- I feel like this is meant to be a random pixie dust style perk. Like if people complain too much it wouldn't surprise me the least bit if they started only announcing them a week or two out for on-site guests only.

To the contrary, if you limit it to once per quarter, the locals and people with money to make many short trips to Florida will be disproportionately more likely to attend more events, with less chances for someone to get lucky with two events during their extended stay.

I think limiting by park and/or by total events is fair, but breaking it up into once a quarter seems designed to help people who can grab a night or two last minute (or qualify under general registration).

Is it just 1 per season or is it 1 per season and 1 per park per year? I have trips for HS in Jan and in Sept. can I get them both?

If I had points and lived within an hour, I could make a one night reservation for every single event on the books if it's not limited to one per season. Once a season limits that activity, opening up the events for people who can't drop in all willy-nilly.

Why do you think once per season is better than once per park or two/three/four events per year?

Once per season makes it most likely that locals and people who can drop $2k on last minute flights get 4 events a year but less likely for everyone else.

Agreed, I really thing think they messed up on this new season-based policy. The three summer dates worked best for my family . We hoped to attend 2-3 of those and I had reservations lined up. With the new season cap we can only go to one. I think a cap on the total number would have made the most sense, and maybe a park cap on HS.

Well they have been successful doing a park cap at MK for several years….
As in a total moratorium? Lol. I'm new to MM events but my understanding is they don't do events there, and haven't for years (ever?). By cap I just meant "one per year" at that park, or something like that. And had heard HS is the smallest event, so a cap there could make sense to allow more members to experience it.
