2025 Lunar New Year Foodie Guide! (1/17 - 2/16)

This all looks so good! Especially the bread pudding and those donut holes. The lemongrass dumplings look amazing!

I LOVED the Taro Vietnamese coffee last year and am looking forward to trying the Pho Dip sandwich and the mini char siu pork shanks, yum.

I had the dumplings last year and they were fantastic. The sauce that comes with it was so good. Hope it's just as good this year!

Last year, they had char siu ribs at Studio Catering and the flavor was awesome. I'm hoping the shanks will be similar!

Honestly, LNY might be my favorite of the food festivals at DLR. It's all subjective, but it just fits my palate and tastes and avoids a lot of the things I'm picky about. So I'm excited for it!

We had a char siu turkey leg last year, it was pretty tasty. I also love Lunar New Year!

Any food reviews from LNY opening weekend?

We (Myself, my wife and 18-year-old daughter) went yesterday and each bought Sip and Savor passes knowing we'll return at least once more during the Lunar New Year promotion. We planned the trip specifically so we can sample the foods at the booths. I know tastes vary but here's what we ate and what we thought of each.

Lucky 8 Lantern
Quesabirria Egg Roll - Ordered 2 of these to share. Best thing I ate all day by far. Will be getting again when we go back. DD thought it was good too. DW didn't care for it that much so she let the two of us have her share. Yum!

Chocolate Firecracker - We all liked this one a lot and will be getting it again. Good chocolate taste throughout.

Red Dragon Spice Traders
Spicy Gochujang Chicken Tacos - I ordered the tacos as was corrected by the order CM that it was taco ... singular. Signage says "tacos" so I'm not sure if it was because I was redeeming a Sip and Savor pass? Spice was good. Little to no chicken. Small for what it cost. Taste was fine but will not get this again.

Longevity Noodle Co.
Garlic Noodles - DD loves noodles and garlic so this was a hit for her. DW said they were good too.

Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles - Shrimp was too spicy for DW (who really doesn't like spicy things anyway) but DD liked them. DW said that the noodles were good but not anything she couldn't find elsewhere.

Wrapped with Love
Fried Lemongrass Chicken Dumplings - DD did not like them and she likes dumplings. I finished them for her and thought they tasted fine. Nothing to write home about but fine. Surprised she didn't like them. Seemed to be the sauce on them that she didn't care for.

Mandarin Orange Cream Puff - Another in the "fine" category. DW ate it and said it was OK but rather dry. Won't be getting again.

Bamboo Blessings
Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron - Tasty, very strawberry-flavored. I like sweet stuff but this was probably the sweetest thing I've ever eaten. Would get again but the Chocolate Firecracker was better for dessert. For reference, I really, really like the toffee macaron from the holidays and I liked the Snickers one from last year's Food & Wine Festival. This would be in 3rd place out of all of those.

Brown Sugar Milk Tea - DW and DD thought it was OK. Felt it had a bit of a strange aftertaste. I'm not a milk tea drinker but tried it and felt it was OK at best too. I've tasted better elsewhere but I think this will really be a YMMV type of thing.

Overall, the food was good and we filled up. Next time, the girls are going to try the bao and the Phở dip. We'll reorder the birria egg roll, chocolate firecracker and garlic noodles as well.

On a side note, it was probably the busiest we've ever experienced at DCA. Surprised with it being January. Masses of people walking everywhere. Long lines (that moved) at all the stands. Some refurbishments and down attractions probably didn't help. We had fun and look forward to going again before the Lunar New Event disappears.

Thanks for the review. We were on vacation last week so won't be able to go until next week. I missed the Paradise Gardens fish last year, so that is on my list of things to try.

I agree that Lunar New Year is surprisingly busy. Last year we noticed a lot of locals who seemed to come specifically for the festival. We saw several kids in cultural costumes throughout the park.

I did the Lunar Sip & Savor (I'm still not sure if you can or cannot just buy one thing direct at the counter?) I loved the garlic noodles last year and purchased just for those, and found them good but not great this year. They removed the little hot dog Mickey as one of the food options (which admittedly could have been a different food coupon event). The eggroll was good not great - the sauce was a little bland, not even as spicy as straight soy sauce. The Scallion Pancake Tostada at Studio Catering (near Monsters, Inc and Animator's Academy) was by FAR my favorite and I was sorry I was too full to get a second one lol, but I did not try that many items.

Yes, you can buy individual items at the booths without having a sip and savor pass. Also, I think the hot dog Mickeys are at one or more of the vending carts in DCA. I don't know which ones, but that's where they are noted as being in the Disney press release about the Lunar New Year foods.

Can verify this. It's no longer at the festival booths, but is at various snack carts instead. I follow like one Disney food blogger and he got it at the Paradise Garden snack cart, but I'm sure it's at some of the others. (Look for the ones that serve hot foods, because they keep it in the warming cart.)

This is what I want to try!! I saw a that pic shows two tostadas but to be clear it's just one, right?

I mostly meant it was not available using a S&S coupon - which I recall getting a pretzel mickey with hot dogs at one of the coupon festivals. It was not really festival related, but having a hot dog or popcorn craving at the Parks is not a huge surprise ;)

Really? Disney said it is:

Select Outdoor Vending Carts
  • Mickey-shaped Hot Dog Bun: Brioche-style Mickey-shaped bun stuffed with hot dogs finished with sesame seeds and scallions (Available with Sip and Savor pass)
