Walt Disney World has announced that Whispering Canyon Cafe will be closed starting May 12th for a short refurbishment at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge hotel. Here’s the announcement:
From May 12 through May 21, 2025, Whispering Canyon Café will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, Guests can choose from a variety of other dining locations at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, including Territory Lounge, Roaring Fork, Geyser Point Bar & Grill and Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White.
We're staying the week after it opens back up and plan on going. We haven't stayed at CCV in a couple years (been resort hopping) but it feels like longer than that. Excited to finally be back at our real home. We've missed it!
I noticed today that DVC has finally added the room renovation for May through September at CCV to their list when you go to book.
"Beginning August 5, 2024, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo exterior refurbishment work. Additionally, from mid-May 2025 to September 2025, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins will undergo guest room refurbishments. While all resort amenities will remain available, Guests may see and hear construction work during daytime hours.
From May 12 through May 21, Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will close for planned maintenance. All other food locations, including the Territory Lounge, Roaring Forks, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, and Story Book Dining at Artist Pointe, will remain open."

We stayed at CCV last October. The geyser was not working and they did not restore the buffalo topiary at the corner of the CCV building across from the quiet pool entrance (I think it went missing in 2021). Any news on those two things? Is the geyser working again? We are coming for our next stay in June this year.
We love WL and have stayed there many times before purchasing DVC. We stayed once at CCV in a 2 BR and liked it too. We are coming in May and staying 4 nights at Poly, then 3 nights in a CCV DS Resort View. Looking on the first page at the room types on each floor, it looks like to have a room on a high floor, we would have needed the DS Walk-in Shower. Is that accurate? We prefer high floors so it is going to be a bummer if we are going to be in a ground level room.

You will still have a chance as all the alternate layout studios on the upper floors are Deluxe Studio category not Deluxe with Shower, but there is only one per floor. Place a request for upper floor and hope for the best! (I've stayed in one before, really liked the space for just the 2 of us but wasn't enamored of the frosted windows in the bedroom area letting so much light in!).
