Anyone know how the resort faired in the hurricane? I saw some pictures of flooded Main Street. With Wilderness being right on the water I assume we're prone to some flooding. Hope all the Florida based owners are largely uneffected!

Honestly I feel like they’re kind of similar. Our first stay was at Kidani, we tried way back then to jump into DVC resale at AKL but it got taken then we pivoted to CCV. CCV is obviously smaller, and it’s close to MK if the grandkids are fans of that park over AK. Love that everything is close at CCV, (in the resort-I don’t subscribe to that theory that AKL is too far from everything on property, it’s sometimes closer to everything except MK) sometimes at AKL it’s a hike. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy both AK resorts during Christmas, but there’s something special about the Wilderness Lodge at Christmas. Jambo rooms are comparable in size to CCV but a tad bigger. Kidani rooms are obviously larger. Both have that secluded feel. At CCV you have the electrical parade on the lake. At AKL you have the Savannah. For our family it came down to three things; which one was more our aesthetic, what was the life of the contract, and which resort was easier to get into. We are WL people. The life of the contract was much longer at CCV. And most importantly to me CCV is smaller, you sometimes need that 11-month preference to get into any room except a Cabin. Case in point we are going in late May-early June next year; there’s no availability today (which is the 7-month day for part of our stay) in a 2BR for the length of time we want at CCV; however, at AKL (either one) we can 7-month in there with little issue (Kidani more so than Jambo). So we opted for the smaller resort for the 11-month knowing the other was a larger resort and we could virtually always get in. Not sure that helps but I hope it did, good luck!I am looking at adding on via resale. AKV and CCV are the two currently in the running. We usually stay in 1BR and need 2BR when we have grandkids and family in tow. So looking for some wisdom on these boards. What is great about owning CCV?
Great points! Thanks! We are leaning towards CCV as we usually vacation early December. We really liked WL lobby decorations. The size of the resort is probably key here. Why buy at AKL if you can get in at 7 months. Did not really look into that very much.Honestly I feel like they’re kind of similar. If you’re looking for cash reservations at CCV, remember that Disney as a DVC owner is restricted to the 11 month window just like the rest of us are. So I wouldn’t expect cash reservations for DVC resorts in December to appear until January.Just back from another great stay! Wanting to book a cash reservation at CCV for December of 2025, sometime in the first two weeks, but Disney is showing no availability at all for a studio. Are these rooms already sold out???? I kept moving my dates around, but there was no availability. Can someone give me some insight?
Thank you for this! I appreciate it!If you’re looking for cash reservations at CCV, remember that Disney as a DVC owner is restricted to the 11 month window just like the rest of us are. So I wouldn’t expect cash reservations for DVC resorts in December to appear until January.
Also, I haven’t been reading this thread, but apparently Disney was slow in releasing cash availability for November and December 2025. https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...ng-watch-party-booking-now-available.3951483/
Exactly this! I book cash CCV/BRV every year (for a bounceback, book a different resort if it’s more than 11 months out then call back at 11 months to change) and I have to wait until 11 months out. Check the day your 11 month mark starts, anything at the WL in December is popular and since studios are really limited for cash, book quickly. Good luck, it’s magical there during the Christmas holiday season. If you’re looking for cash reservations at CCV, remember that Disney as a DVC owner is restricted to the 11 month window just like the rest of us are. Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and tips! I certainly will do this! After years of stalking the WDW booking website and booking cash stays at CCV through Disney, some things I have learned:
- while they CAN release availability as early as 11 months out, more often it is released somewhere in the 10-11 month window, and occasionally it has been in the 9-11 month window
- they do not release all resorts at the same time
- they do not release all types of rooms at the same resort at the same time
- when it does release it will almost guaranteed be rack rate
Because of this, I recommend:
- experiment with the website NOW for the resort you want at 11 months from now and for dates in the 10-11 months window, to get an idea of what the availability pattern looks like; if you do this over a few weeks you will see some patterns emerge, though there is no guarantee the same patterns will always be there
- start stalking the reservation YOU WANT at the 11 month mark and check every day (or more a day!) until it shows up, then book immediately once it does
- there may never be a discount that becomes available, so be prepared to pay rack rate for the room you want (but hope for a discount you can change to later!); we are about 50/50 on being able to later get a discount
Good luck !
We stayed in a 2BR Which was just above the check in desk inside the main lobby and faced outside to the parking lot or the roof. Don’t remember the room number but it wasn’t on the top floor and it had a small balcony that looked over the roof trees and another that looked over the parking lot. It was the floor above the floor with the walkway that goes from the copper creek side, above the entrance and down to Whispering Canyon. Maybe the fourth floor? Looking at the room finder in touring plans it may have been 5100Do all of the dedicated 2 bedroom villas, except those on the 1st and top floors, include that one long, connected balcony?
Thanks. It sounds like those balconies might be inconsistent then.We stayed in a 2BR Which was just above the check in desk inside the main lobby and faced outside to the parking lot or the roof. There is no set date, unfortunately. You can check out the Holiday Decoration Thread HERE. Check out Page 1 and you’ll be able to see when decorations went up the past few years. As decorations start going up, it will be posted. Hope that helps a little.Anyone been over to WL recently? Curious on the Christmas decoration progress. Were there 11/15-11/22. Hoping to catch at least some of it!
