“IT’S OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER TRIP!” Our Spontaneous Getaway - April 2011 COMPLETE 9/13

I needed a warning with this update! I love Tonga Toast and Mac. Nut Pancakes...I am hungry and want both for a late night snack! :sad2:

Really, though, YUM!

Oh those zebra domes look amazing!!! And your room looks fabulous! Can't wait to hear what your first full day has in store!!!!

Mmm they were! And thank you! I hope you enjoy the new update!

Your trip sounds amazing. I am going to keep reading and go back to the other two soon. I hope you had a great time.

Thank you! I hope you enjoy reading :) And I did have a great time, thanks! :wizard:

I missed the new post! But I got it now! Those Zebra Domes look deeeelicious!!!!! I wonder how all those cast members know you're into the internship thing! They must all talk, "oh that Jess girl..." Hopefully cast members tell me all about it too, because I want to know how awwesome it is! You're awesome at finding those hidden Mickeys! I always get so excited when I find them, then debate whether or not they were intentional, LOL. 3 full days left for me!!!!

Haha it' okay! You missed another one today, too, but that's because YOU'RE IN DISNEY RIGHT NOW. I love Zebra Domes!! Yum yum yum. And haha probably because if I find out they're in the internship either me or my Mom are like "ARE YOU DOING THE INTERNSHIP!? TELL US ABOUT IT!" Or sometimes they'll just tell us about it anyway haha. I bet they all know me by now :rotfl: Just kidding. I hope some of them talk to you about it while your'e there! And haha I love Hidden Mickeys! Sometimes I find them when I'm not even in Disney  YOU'RE IN DISNEY RIGHT NOW! AHHHHH :yay:

Those zebra domes look delicious!!!!! I have never gotten a chance to try them but i hope this trip we will be able top stop in the mara to get some despite the fact we aren't staying there. also love how you were watching stacey before bed. I always watch stacey first thing in the room as we are unpacking. It always makes disney feel official. I wish there was a real world channel to go to when one is homesick for disney. I was reading a article in the celebration magazine that interviewed her and thought about everyone on the DIS who enjoys her channel.

They were great! Maybe next time!! And haha I watch Stacy ALL the time :) When I'm in Disney, there is a rule: No TV except Stacy or the Resort channels. That's how it is! I wish I could watch it at home too, but I guess that's what youtube is for! And aww really!? I want to read that article! I would love to know more about Stacy! She's like a celebrity to me!

following along...enjoying your adventure so far...

Hooray! Thank you!

I'm all caught up. I didn't know you had this TR going. I was laughing about your hamlet story. When I was in high school we read a Shakespeare book every year and I never understood them! When I got to my senior year we had to read hamlet and my teacher was nice enough to give us the books that the one side of the page had the Shakespeare version and the other side had the English version. I loved Hamlet!!! I probably would have liked all the others too if I would have understood them better. Your trip is off to a great start! We ate at Jiko last October and that was around the time they took the filet with mac and cheese off the menu but our waiter told us that you can always ask for it because the mac and cheese is still on the kids menu. Glad you like Kidani, we stayed there in February for a short weekend trip and thought it was beautiful! Can't wait to read more!

Haha thank you for being here! LOL oh Hamlet! That's what I read! The 1/2 Shakespeare/ 1/2 regular version. SO much easier!! And I ended up loving it too! And thanks! Jiko is lovely! That's really good to know, too, that you can ask for it! Very good! It's a diser secret ;) And Aww I agree, it really is beautiful! I hope you enjoy the new update!

Hi! I'm in! My daughter and I take tons of "mom daughter" trips to the world! May be going again next week! :) My daughter also just finished the college program and had the time of her life! Are you thinking of doing it? She worked at Cinderellas Royal Table!!

Aww that's so fun! I hope you go!! We had a wonderful time! And AHH she did!? Yes, I definitely am thinking of doing it. Actually, I definitely am going to! :goodvibes That's so cool that she worked there! Was she a waitress?

Subbing!! Great TR so far!

I love that pic of the palm trees and the runway when your plane touched down -- SO Florida-ish! My fam loves the AKL, Kidani is our someday-stay list -- loved all the pics, it looks beautiful! The Kona breakfast looked really fun! Lilikoi is such a pretty name for a tropical juice -- do you know what the flavor was, was it POG juice (pinapple orage guava)?

Thank you so much!
Haha I LOVE that first view of Florida out the plane window! SO exciting!!
I hope you get to stay at Kidani soon! It's just wonderful!
And mmm I love Kona and the Juice! And I don't exactly know what flavor it is... but what you listed sounds correct. It's the same thing as the "Jungle Juice" that is served at Boma, if that helps.

I really am liking your TR!! I read the Port Report one and LOVED it as well.
Mother daughter trips are fun, aren't they? My mom and I always just go together. :flower3:

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying!
They are SO fun! I love going with my Mom because we get to do everything we want to do without having to wait for or compromise with others haha. We really enjoy spending time together, too! And it's our favorite place on earth, obviously!

mmmm Kona's breakfast also looks so good, I definitely want to try it sometime.

Booo about the bus pulling away just as you were getting there, I hate when that happens.

I love the view you guys had from the balcony, it must have been nice for peoplewatching.

Can't wait for more:goodvibes

You definitely should!!
And I know... that happens to me much too often!
And it was!! Haha I wish I had more time to people watch, because we did have a great view!

Ok, I think I beat Kristen this time! CHYEAH! :-) Hehehehe

I love the balconies at AKL! I didn't have a Savannah view either when I was there, but one day we saw Hot Air Balloons out our window! How cool is that?! So, yeah, the views there are good anyways. And I loved walking out onto the balcony every morning :goodvibes

Awwww... sorry about the bus! This seems to happen frequently to you. Hopefully it isn't a recurrence for future trips. Waits can drive people crazy, that's what FPs are for :thumbsup2 LOL

So, you took a bus to MK and didn't go into MK? ... Okay. :-) Wow! Kona again! You seem to really like it there. Maybe I'll have to make an ADR there. Sounds very cool, if it was a recurrence between two TRs! And we seem to have similar tastes, too and I think those Tonga Toast and Lilikoi Juice are calling to me :teeth:

I'm pretty sure now you are a CM magnet. They seem to show up out of nowhere and talk to you. And this one has good taste (Sanaa=Amazing) I can't wait until I start the DCP... free park passes :goodvibes Have we discussed this already? LOL

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Haha yes you did!
It was a nice balcony! And wow really!? That is so cool! That would be a wonderful thing to see out your window!
And LOL oh those busses. Good thing I have an unconditional love for Disney busses :) And yes, thank GOD for fastpasses. Best invention EVER.
Hahaha yes.. I know. The only time I would ever go off the path from going to Magic Kingdom would be to go get food! Kona was fantastic! You DEFINITELY should make an ADR there for next time! You would loveeee it. And haha it will be a recurring event during my Christmas trip, so be prepared for that
And yes I love those CM's! It sure helps that mother and I are pretty talkative haha. And yeah, we did. AWESOME!

Kona is definitely one of my favorite places to have breakfast. What a great place to start!

You and your mom do exactly what my mom and I do. Order two things we both want and split them. We do it constantly! We both have the same tastes, so we end up winning in the end.

It's one of mine too! It was wonderful!
And haha isn't that the smartest thing ever?! I just need to try everything, and so does Mother. So bada-bing... sharing! Perfect solution :thumbsup2

Mmmm your breakfast looked amazing!!!! :thumbsup2

How fun to chat with a CM!!!

It was!! And yes, that was awesome too! I love CM's :)

The Poly is just so beautiful! Kona looks amazing, it's definitely at the top of my Disney bucket list! lol Both the tonga toast and the macadamia nut pancakes look delicious.
That's really cool that you sat next to a CM too. I love talking to them, they always have the best stories!

I know! I have never stayed there... I really need to someday! And oh yes, book it for your next trip! I LOVE Kona!! Best breakfasts on property!
And haha I totally agree! I like to know how each CM got their job, where they're from, what they do, how long they've been there, how long they plan to stay there... etc. They're just so interesting!

I needed a warning with this update! I love Tonga Toast and Mac. Nut Pancakes...I am hungry and want both for a late night snack! :sad2:

Really, though, YUM!

Hahaha I'm sorry! I should have put a caution sign at the beginning of the post :lmao:
YUM YUM YUM for sure!! :thumbsup2

First off, love the title. I totally read it in the Disney Voice Guy's voice. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about the sink/mirror being in the same room as the shower. The Polynesian's the same way. It's pretty much the Poly's only flaw.

I love the zebra chair on the balcony. A+ to whichever Disney decorator picked those out.

I always freak when the monorail doors don't open right away. Getting trapped in one of them is like my biggest fear. Gosh, I really am afraid of everything...:rotfl:

I love the Poly pics. In all of the chaos/sadness of my last trip, we missed our ADR at 'Ohana so we didn't get the chance to go visit. I miss it!

Your breakfast looks delish! BTW all of your food pictures are awesome. I'm about ready to start licking my laptop screen. :lmao:

Love the pics of AKL! :thumbsup2 Lol at missing the bus you wanted - it always seems to happen that way!

Poly looks amazing! :lovestruc I'm glad you enjoyed Kona Cafe and split the breakfasts between you - can't wait to try some Tonga Toast!

I love all the AKV pics. i am so excited to stay there for my graduation trip. Kona cafe looks soo good. I want to try it. I have only read positive feedback about the place

I'm all caught up! Your meals at Jiko and Kona looked amazing...I've never been to Jiko and I've only been to Kona for lunch so those places are definitely at the top of my list for my next trip. You always take such great food porn pictures. I'm off to find something to eat now :upsidedow

I like the title of this update. :lovestruc

You guys look like such little happy campers. :goodvibes Yayy for embracing the wake-up call!

Kidani is gorgeous. OMG I can't even get over it.

Oh the monorail. HEAVENNNNN. :cloud9:

Brilliance. Splitting everything. Me and Sarah are SO doing that.

Great update princess!! princess:

Hahaha YES! I'm glad somebody did!
And ahh yes, I'm glad you get what I was talking about haha. Slightly annoying. But I made it work.
Oh my gosh!! I didn't even notice that was a Zebra until you pointed it out! How cool!! I'm glad that I am sometimes oblivious to the world.
And haha aww. Don't worry... the monorail won't hurt you!
YOU MISSED OHANA!? Noooooo :( I'm sad. Next time!
And hahahaha feel free  How very frumpy of you. I'm glad you like the pictures :)

Love the pics of AKL! :thumbsup2 Lol at missing the bus you wanted - it always seems to happen that way!

We were! So cute. And oh yes... I love that wake-up call! Especially because my Disney obsession is back in full-swing!
I LOVE Kidani! I could have easily stayed there for months more!
And EEEEEEP the monorail... which you get to ride in a matter of hours!
And ahh yes. SO smart!
And thank you!

Chapter 5 - Please Stand Clear of... My Chocolate?
April 8th, 2011

After taking a turn for the monorail this morning, you don't think I could possibly just let the Magic Kingdom sit there and not visit, do you!?

I HAD to go!

We caught the monorail at the Polynesian and headed straight for my favorite place in the entire world!

The first thing we did was go into the new Town Square Meet and Greet Area! This is something new they've added since I was there in February. (or I just didn't notice it, I don't remember.)

dsc0731f.jpg

It was only a 10 minute wait to see Mickey and Minnie! FANTASTIC!

That new area was SO cute. I sort of forgot that they were making it, and I went in and was happily surprised! The theming was so adorable!

dsc0732z.jpg

A little boy in front us was SO excited. He kept yelling "MICKEY! MICKEY!" He was just so happy to be there!

I'm like... don't I still do that and I'm 18...? :lmao:

dsc0733j.jpg

Well, 17 in this picture. ^^ I look like a happy little child!

Both of the mice were SO cute! This was a great little area. I liked just meeting them in their classic outfits. The experience was just so nice and very enjoyable!

dsc0737x.jpg

After our hugs, we were off into a new direction! But first we had to take some pictures of Main Street USA!

Happy, Happy, Happy :-)

dsc0739pt.jpg

dsc0740c.jpg

Frontierland was our next choice! We just needed to grab some Splash Mountain Fastpasses.

dsc0744o.jpg

I ♥ Splash Mountain!

dsc0745n.jpg

We decided to go on Pirates of the Caribbean next. We waited in the left line.

Unfortunately, there was some PDA going on in front of us during the ride. Ugh... if you're gonna do that can you at least request the back seat so you don't distract me? I only have so much allotted pirate time in my entire life. Thank you.

We almost went to the Enchanted Tiki Room after that, however, it was closed. I forgot about that.

Then we bought some water.

Then we made our way over to Liberty Square to see the Hall of Presidents, but it was a 22 minute wait until the next show. Eh.

We wandered into the Yankee Trader and ended up buying a few things.

I got a Mickey Sandwich Cutter:

dsc0115t.jpg

And also, if you are a huge monorail/disney transportation announcements fan, you're going to appreciate this.

I found the best box of chocolate EVER:

dsc0747mo.jpg

"Please Stand Clear of My Chocolate. Por Favor Mantengase Alejado de Mi Chocolate."

:rotfl2:

I bought those for Kristen for her birthday. I wish you could have seen her reaction.

Making Monorail Merchandise was the best thing Disney ever did. I'm glad they recognized how many people are obsessed with it!

We made our way out of there and decided that Fantasyland was our next stop.

We stopped in Castle Couture just to look around for a bit.

And then we saw some baby ducks in the little pond near the area where Liberty Square turns into Fantasyland! They were so CUTE!!

dsc0749u.jpg

We decided to take some castle pictures:

SO BEAUTIFUL!

dsc0751b.jpg

dsc0754k.jpg

I found something technical in the bushes!! I wonder what these are used for! Fireworks, perhaps?

dsc0752d.jpg

Here's Mother:

dsc0755co.jpg

dsc0756r.jpg

Then we wandered back to Liberty Square. I saw this Umbrella and took a picture for Kristen!

dsc0757y.jpg

Unfortunately, this is not the spelling of her name. HOWEVER, I still thought of her when I saw it!

We went back to the The Hall of Presidents and saw that there were now only a few more minutes till showtime! Oh, perfect.

Good 'Ol George.

dsc0758h.jpg

I honestly can't even tell you the last time I went to that attraction. If you wanted me to guess... I would say that it might have been my trip when I went in 2nd grade. Or when I went with my Nana and Papa and Family when I was in 3rd grade. I can't remember. Either way... it had been AGES!

Mother and I went in the theatre and sat smack dab in the front and center. The view was nice... even though I rested my eyes for a portion of the show... haha. NAPTIME!

dsc0759tm.jpg

I forgot that Obama was even a part of it. Why, hello there Obama.

I love all of the new candies that they have! I bought some on my last trip and it was really good!

And seriously, who wouldn't love monorail merchandise?

Love the new Mickey & Minnie greeting area! It's so adorable.
