Disney Cruise Line Updates Castaway Club Membership Requirements

Yes. We sailed with them in 2002 and then we didn't sail again until 2016... and they still gave us the points from the 2002 cruise! We're finally close to Diamond now (80 points) after almost 22 years. We're really excited to reach that level because its means DH and I will each get 4 free adult beverages per day on every cruise after that.
That’s how it should be.

I think the policy is very fair and reasonable and am glad that it will help reduce scenarios like this, in which many of the people with the highest club status never paid a dime for the cruises that got them that status.
Wow that was nice. Needless to say I disagree.I hope your son never wats to take you or his grandkids on a cruise.
It’s quite possible my son will be successful and keep cruising is that ok or should he still loose his status?

I showed my kid this post and she was completely aghast, though she understood the revenue management logic once I explained (she is 13 so it was eye opening). Her response? Well, you'll have to keep paying for my cruises when I get older. Sigh. She is not wrong.
It would worth it just to irritate the people that are against it.

For those saying that it’s gonna be an issue for them because Disney is so expensive and not everyone can afford to sail every five years are missing the point. This new policy isn’t affecting those people. I’m wracking my brain right now. Trying to figure out how a gold, platinum or pearl status member achieves this by sailing only every five years.
I think it’s an issue for people that have status that may want to slow down the pace. At today’s prices I think it would be very hard for most people to reach pearl if they are just starting out.

It’s very easy to become pearl without breaking the bank( relatively speaking,). Just move to Central Florida or Miami.

I guess if just want to go to the Bahamas over and over. How boring.
For many it's not the destination, but the method of transportation, us included. When we were on the EBPC after the pandemic, there were 2 couples from CA, who were doing their 8th DCL PC cruise. I think you will find that on many CL's.

Us too. For us, it is the fantasy. We don’t care where she sails - it can be the same itinerary over and over. Never gets old.

We started sailing with DCL in late 2017. In a few weeks, we will take our 9th cruise on the fantasy. With a couple more cruises on her this year.

Those PC cruises are a good value on a per night cost. The PC cruises not so much.

Funny how the people complaining about potentially losing Castaway Club perks are people who keep posting only to disdain the possibility of cruising with DCL. If you don't like the line, why concern yourself about its loyalty club?
It’s ok to like multiple cruise lines.

My 19-year-old is pearl and my 20-year-old is almost there. It's too bad they will most likely lose that. If they ever get married and have kids and can afford a Disney cruise they may have more incentive to do it if they still had the status.

I just chalk this up to another bad decision in a long line of bad decisions this company has made over the last few years. Eventually, some of their fans will walk away and never look back.
This is so true. I feel like every announcement Disney makes these days gives off a negative vibe.

I wish they would have exempted under 25 year olds. One of my daughters had a big gap and cruised for her honeymoon (and has another one booked for next year), but the other has a gap in cruising. I liked that the cruises we took them on had them at silver status (almost gold), but my youngest is going to lose that before she has a chance to cruise on her own.

Then you have people on here who gloat about the fact that kids who never paid a dime will get their status taken away.

Why does that matter? Someone in the family paid for this status. We all know paying for a Disney cruise whether it's grandparents, parents, kids, or grandkids paying it is no easy task for anyone handing over their credit card.

My mom paid for our first Disney cruise for my family and her grandkids. She has since passed away. Should I subtract that cruise from my cruise count and my kid's cruise count? Some people are so petty.
