Something About Nothing............ #14

The chinook winds have arrived and it's warm again here!
I’ve never heard that term, had to google. Duh

we get our share of lake effect snow from Erie, meanwhile it’s 130 miles away, go figure.

Odd thing, I-80 cuts thru our state, west to east. You can go 1 mile north of it and they have a foot of snow, south a few miles and it’s far less.

Does run along a mountain ridge for the most part, assume that has something to do with it. except where it crosses the Eastern Continental divide near DuBois & all heck really breaks loose. :confused3

I just take the more southern cross state route, the turnpike, and call it a day lol

What are the odds we will see a schumi sightings tonight…

well…going with how we summon this guy

You said it once,

I’ll say it twice

”Schumi”

who‘s all in thrice?

:)

Ask and ye shall receive thank you ladies…….. 🙂

Had a really good flight over, arrived to rain, but time we came out with the car, sun was shining. It’s going to improve though, least it was still warmer than home!

Lovely warm welcome as always when we arrived and our suite had some lovely treats waiting for us thanks to the lovely Marian and Andrea!

Unpacked, showered, changed and went down to Strong Water Bar for 7.30ish……and one of these beautiful drinks was waiting for me when we arrived…….nothing better than a Carole’s Punch….well, unless it’s two of them!

Caught up with the lovely Fernando and his team, ate well and now back in the suite, in jammies trying to stay awake till around 10pm…..can we last another hour??

It is so good to be back and it’s always lovely to be welcomed like family…..

It‘s really 2am on Saturday for us, 22 hour day, not doing too badly, but now to not get too comfy……

Catch up soon :)

Looks like Schumi is settled in nicely. Enjoy that warm weather.

Ah Saturday is here. Still overcast, but the rain chances went to zero today. And that clear sky returns by 10 am. Woot! Though 56 the high, so more seasonable, but a nice enough day weather wise, and I’m happy. Almost sunrise.

Up early as usual. DH went to volunteer, so he was out the door early. Ugh to alarm having to be tuned back on to sound this morning. But turned it off quick, and tried to get back to sleep, after seeing him off. Sort of did, but then decided to take a long hot shower, and relax with my cup of tea. No matter which day, there is not much new, other than news and infomercials, particularly in the wee hours and late nights. And so, background noise as hoping to be not remembering a rerun show or movie. Ah even the English football is not on this morning. Sigh.

Back to refill that tea mug, and see what I want to eat. For whatever reason, not as hungry this morning.

Good morning all, and hope all have a most super duper Saturday today.

That table in Carole’s suite is bigger than my DR one without the leaves lol

Ambrosia made. Going to stop at the trusty $store for a container to transfer that. Not about to trust my crystal ware to whatever random dish wash person lol

the sweet tater monstrosity assembled, to be baked off an hour prior to serving
BA9EACF9-E0FF-485C-8486-0E66AC5D501E.jpeg

& ingredients for that corn pudding ready to go…

As soon as WM tells me jrs order of 4 folding chairs is ready for pickup

Think I’ll wrap or start to pack this afternoon. Depending on how sore my finger is. Nasty oozy mess from the derm still, healing over slowly. Probably from motion as one on back is fine.

Quick morning stop in! It's another mild day today.

Not much to shuffle around today here. So it's an easier day today. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to keep busy all day today. Today makes up for the days that are stupid crazy where we don't know which way to turn.

Dh ordered and picked up pizza on his way home from work last night. Loved that for a Friday night! Morning did come too early though - but then again - I am NOT and early riser.

:confused3
It is a weird phenomenon. I'll never forget when Leonard De Caprio was filming in Calgary and had never experienced a chinook. He stated " He could feel the climate change and we need to be vigilant about doing what we can for climate change ". Canadians were kind of snickering at his statements about actually feeling climate change - when what is happening has been happening for 1000's of years in that area.

When do you leave for your next adventure? What is your countdown at?
Unpacked, showered, changed and went down to Strong Water Bar for 7.30ish……and one of these beautiful drinks was waiting for me when we arrived…….nothing better than a Carole’s Punch….well, unless it’s two of them!
Sounds like a great arrival day!!!!

Well, I should probably run...and try to look busy. Good thing there are NOT many of us in the office on weekends ;) I think my e-reader will be out today.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!

Ah, went to see the mamoth show, happened to be a 5 minute walk from where our home is. Great show.

Good singer in his own right, even if he got a leg up from his parents.

I’m getting ready for bed. Neither kid is, and knew to take my keys, as older one was in his pajama pants, and DH was sound asleep. At least not much planned for tomorrow. Well, other than getting the trash out and setting the alarm.

Hope all have a good night.

Happy Sunday. We had another great college football Saturday. Our team is now 11-0 for the season. Next week’s game is an away game.
The downside of the day is that we can still smell the smoke from the fires in the Jefferson National Forest. We are close enough to smell the smoke, but far enough away that we aren’t threatened by it.
This afternoon I need to get with our Thanksgiving hosts and see what they want us to bring. I know they want apple pie, but I also think we should contribute a side dish or two since they will be doing most of the cooking. Usually we have several families in attendance but this year it will only be our family and theirs for a total of 5 people.
Also this afternoon we are going to put up our outdoor Christmas decorations. It’s supposed to be sunny and in the low 60s today. Next week the temps start dropping and we may get some rain that we desperately need.

Good Sunday morning everyone :wave2:

Hope you have a lovely visit with your son :)
We had a nice visit. It is so nice to see him. He is busy.

I do believe there is a strong “decorating” gene that runs in your family!
I think so.

Not to disappoint :). enjoying a pre concert drink at our seats
Looks like you and your daughter in law had a wonderful time at he drag show.

Yum, i couldn’t resist this wagu cheesesteak last night. Smart idea for the restaurant to use up the bits
Dinner looks yummy.

I have just started shopping. I have a few things coming from Amazon next week. Do you do Black Friday sales? I avoid them.
A lot of the stores around here are doing Black Friday deals already. I think Black Friday is not as big around here as it used to be as all the stores were having sales last year before Black Friday.

I don’t shop the sales typically. If I’am in the store and something catches my eye nice if not that is ok too.

Robbie -think I forgot to thank you for the sweet potato rec. I love seeing hand written ones, bit of history there, too. I treasure the old, metal box my mom used to keep hers in, written on note cards for safekeeping. Not so much for reference, just a way of remembrance
Your welcome. Yes, those hand written recipes are special. I have a few my mom wrote down for me and I cherish those.

So nice you have your moms recipe box with her recipes.

Nothing scarier than seeing an 18 wheeler starting to slide down a mountain at 80 mph. Think I’ll take the back roads, even if takes twice as long.
Yep, that is scary.

Storms forecast for Lynne’s way over thanksgiving & that Fri. I’m hoping they blow thru before we fly Saturday.
Hope the weather cooperates for your flight Janet.

Had a really good flight over, arrived to rain, but time we came out with the car, sun was shining. It’s going to improve though, least it was still warmer than home!
So good to hear you all made it safely.

Enjoy your lizard weather.

A rainy day on vacation is better then a sunny day at home.

Have wonderful time.

Say hi to the Minions for me.

Up with the chickens this morning. Sometimes an early morning is not bad.

I‘am enjoying my coffee this morning and the sun is shining.

Our weather has cooled a little. We are going to be in the low 50’s during the day and 30’s at night.

We are going over to our son and daughter in laws house today. Their dog Joey is 18 and he is going to have to be put down. He is not doing well and is having issues walking along with other things. We bought them sweet Joey when their other dog passed away many years ago.

I was praying little Joey would go in his sleep and they would not have to deal with the trauma of putting him to sleep. This is never an easy decision. It is not easy to let them go, but also not fair to let them suffer.

This is going to be hard for them especially for our grandson as Joey is his baby. So sad.

I remember when we went to the breeder and my husband picked Joey out. On our way to deliver him to the grandchildren I put him in my sweat shirt as he was shaking. He popped his little head out and I told him he was going to a home where he was going to be loved so much. He has been my little pal ever since. We are going to give him lots of loving today.

Our son said the Vet told him last year that Joey was getting close to passing. The Vet told him to give Joey what ever he wanted to eat. Joey loves cheeseburgers so he has been getting his cheeseburgers and enjoying them.

I have been slowly getting things pulled together for Thanksgiving Dinner. Everything is bought just need to cook it. My sister is bringing some sides and her famous cheese Ball.

I had an appointment with the massage therapist Friday and she told me she gets her Thanksgiving pies from the Pie Pan restaurant every year and they are delicious. So I decided to order a few and give them a try.

I‘am transitioning out of the fracture boot. Doc told me to do it slowly over the next week. So far so good.

Need to get back up to my office and clean my desk off and wrap a few more Christmas presents this morning.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Ah that early Sunday. DH tried to get me moving early. I wasn’t having it. Lounged around, took a long hot shower, and made my tea. Clear sky made it next to freezing throughout the night. Still not out of the 30’s yet. And so, gloriously sunny out. Though even with that 54 high, the wind is gusting up to 14 mph, so a little chillier feeling. But I so like seeing that so bright a day, and the clear blues sky.

Alarm on, DH doing some yard work. Getting all ready for the winter season coming next month.

Trash day tomorrow, so will be dragging those trash cans to the curb later today.

Ah, Sunday. So happy a day I can have that lazy feeling day. May see my sister, but not sure. Will give her a call soon. She’s not an early riser, but she does get up mid morning, to walk and her normal routine has made her a more earlier waker. She likes to relax and watch the deer in her yard. Rutting should be pretty much done, so she should see some larger belly deer in a few months.

Oh, Robo, never easy to loose a loved pet. Sending hugs to your son and family. Glad you are enjoying your cup of coffee. Tea in my mug. And yeah, we don’t have lights to hang, but I did ask DH to put our huge lighted wreath on our front door. Hope foot gets better enough, less boot use needed.

Ick, smelling forest fire smoke outside, Charade. Nice you are picking up food to share with the other family. This year, all my siblings’ families and my one niece’s family, will get together for Thanksgiving. More than a dozen, with four kids in that count.

Super Serene Sunday for all. Hope all have a nice morning too. And watching a show, how commercial pizza is made. Hehe, some of us, like pizza at breakfast. 38 percent of us. Only sometimes, if we have leftover pizza, I’ll be one of those in that percentage. Not very often do we have pizza for breakfast.

Ooh, off to make some breakfast. Did pick up bagels while out yesterday. Toasted bagels with bacon, eggs, and cheese. Sausage for the other three, two of which will certainly switch bacon for sausage. Little one has to see if she likes that brand, and where I bought it, before she says okay. All can have both if they want.

Good morning to all, and a good morning hello to Charade, Robo, and Mac. Nice to see all your posts.

Good morning, rare sunny day, birds are tweeting (actually, have been flying into windows in my LR last few days???). I’m thinking since I finally washed them :o.

yesterday bought a couple sheets of those holiday themed stickers they sell at $ store. Going to affix them to see if it helps the birds ”see the glass”

today, I plan on starting to pull stuff to pack. Tuff with the pinkie, since the spot is at section where it joins my hand. the movement is causing it to keep repeatedly breaking open & seeping. TMI, sorry lol.

it just doesn’t want to heal. Not supposed to cover with a bandage, as they want it to form a crust to heal. decided, that’s the way I’m going today. :scratchinThen, think i might actually tape that one to the ring finger to try to restrict the movement. Otherwise, I’m fresh out of ideas lol

FB this afternoon & evening :). Will air fry Chicken wings & probably just cut up vegetables. Do have some pretzel sticks i could make if spirit moves. Love the way both Jake’s & MV serve their’s with the buttery coating, may try to replicate & justify it as the meal’s “starch”

Good singer in his own right, even if he got a leg up from his parents.
Wolfgang!

not sure I’ve ever heard any of his music, he’s a bit of a metal head as I understand it. Just saw a nice pictorial in People magazine re his recent wedding.

check ur rental car. Mine dropped once last week, last night via carrentalsavers, my 2 week hertz one went to $436. Guaranteed MS Suv & I can grab gold via garage. Hasn’t been this low for years, woot!
Also this afternoon we are going to put up our outdoor Christmas decorations. It’s supposed to be sunny and in the low 60s today.
i am so invested in halloween, by the time the outdoor decorations need to go up, I just point the mr to the storage bins and tell him to have at it. He seems to really enjoy having free reign to design a theme. Did a nice job this year.

I’m sure your hostess would be thrilled if you offer to bring a side dish.
Hope the weather cooperates for your flight Janet.
Thanks, I’m hoping delaying by not traveling that Friday or Sunday may help. Was surprised to discover that the Sunday is so busy from my market TBH. I do think many southerners may come back home for Thanksgiving vs Xmas.
Their dog Joey is 18 and he is going to have to be put down.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear. Heartbreaking:sad1:. Take comfort in the happytimes and knowing he absolutely is getting loved on, even more, at the end. Hugs
am transitioning out of the fracture boot. Doc told me to do it slowly over the next week. So far so good.

Oh, tons of :wizard: there for you! Did they tell you to wear a hard, supportive shoe at all times vertical for a month?

didn’t listen when mine came off in early August a few years. podiatrist had signed off on my birks being wonderful for me when it came to sandals. Wore them for a few days & my foot started to balloon, I quickly shifted my thot there And Into a tightly laced athletic I went.

Yeah, Keisha, I tend to be a rock music fan, so he’s right in my like to hear list. Though his opening number was almost too heavy metal, even for me. But happy to see that band was fronted by a woman, shredding that guitar. Yeah, I’d tape your fingers together too. Ack, to having a sore where you do on your hand. Sending some scabbing and healing mummy dust thoughts out your way. Yum to homemade pretzels. Hehe, carbs any way is always good. Have no idea what is for lunch or dinner today. Off to check my rental car rate. I’m at 427 for the week. We prefer an SUV.

It is chilly crisp morning here. Forecast is for it to warm up nicely during the day. Hoping to get to enjoy some sunshine over my lunch break. I have one errand I need to do - so hopefully I'll be able to put the sunglasses on and soak up some sunlight while driving around.

Quiet night last night. I whipped up a quick supper and sat with the remote control.

This afternoon I need to get with our Thanksgiving hosts and see what they want us to bring. I know they want apple pie, but I also think we should contribute a side dish or two since they will be doing most of the cooking. What a great way to spend Thanksgiving - especially since there are only 3 of you!!! I always say - the more the merrier.
I‘am transitioning out of the fracture boot. Doc told me to do it slowly over the next week. So far so good.
I hope it continues to heal well and that transition out of the boot goes smoothly.

It is extremely sad to hear about Joey. It is amazing how much their presence makes such a huge difference in our lives. I hope that the memories you all have will him will comfort you and your family in the coming months.

Enjoy your morning. I love cold pizza in the morning!

Your countdown will go fast now! I can't wait to see your pop ins as well!

I have the same problem with birds flying into the my windows. They eat the fermented berries around Xmas time - and there always seem to be drinking and flying problems around then ;) We have only had a couple fatalities - mostly they just stun themselves for a bit then fly off after a few minutes.

Well, I should get started checking and sending off schedules for the week.

Have a great day everyone!
