Something About Nothing............ #14

good morning
looks like a rainy day for my area

hope better weather for all the homies!

I started to post earlier and got dragged away!! One of those days......:) :)

Our rain miraculously disappeared just after lunch, and wind has died down to next to nothing.

Hope you have plenty to pass your time while it rains......I`m sure the cats will appreciate some hugs.....:cat:

Busy day here after all....so much for a lazy day......the best laid plans!! But, chilling now and enjoying a glass of prosecco.

Watching Bullet Train tonight, last time we tried to watch it I fell asleep as I was on drowsy cold medication, so missed most of it, will stay awake tonight.

Time for a top up.....

I think we may be getting close to double digits for rain days here :scratchin . Since I’m hell bent on accentuating the positives this year “it’s better than snow”.

Little one was wondering what the temps in Orlando would be at end of January.
I’ve had good luck various days in the winter there. at night due to the humidity/water around the parks, can feel a solid 10 degrees cooler than actual temps.

oddly enough, early april last year had a freak cold snap…one of our coldest trips any month there. First trip, ever, I skipped entering the pool. Did sit beside it one night wearing a winter coat, mostly to escape the cheerleaders in room next door For a half hour lol

The island is mostly shrouded behind a shower of fog, you can`t really see it apparate until you carefully work your way through the treacherous Shaalds o’ Foula, it`s a very shallow protectorate reef. Weird place apparently.
at the risk of sounding like a real weirdo, that sounds like a fascinating place...to watch a video of, not visit lol
I started at the new job on Tuesday for training
Good luck! this is a new PT job? You are quite the industrious woman!:worship:
We only have 1 airline that flies out of our city, so options are very limited. If I fly from Roanoke there are a few more options, and even more options from Richmond.

I’m smack between 2 airports, one an international one, the other was Arnold palmer’s private airstrip way out in the boonies…it hasn’t changed much over the decades TBH. Only commercial flights there are a couple a day on spirit. Does have lots of private jets of the captains of industry who live in horse country there. So funny, you used to have to climb steps to board a plane. They remodeled a few years ago, now have an enclosed ramp and even have a tiny snack bar. The big time lol. Best thing…parking is still free...whee.

Yep, most things are better than snow! Rain and wind have been prevalent for us so far these past two weeks.

I’ve never been to the Orkney’s or Shetland Isles…..and never will. Everything and there’s not much, shuts down on Sundays……little too extreme for me! But, I agree it sounds interesting, the curious mind in me would love to see that place for myself……for 5 minutes then leave. Back to civilisation.

Enjoyed our Thai food tonight, one chicken dish was especially spicy, but delicious, one not so spicy sea bass dish and one middling seafood dish. We are full up, but enjoying a cocktail with Bullet Train about to be put on in the back room.

Perfect Saturday night with my mister ❤️

Late night check in. I don’t know where the day went. I really didn’t do much of anything. I did get a hotel booked for the Hollywood area. We’re only staying there 3 nights. Most of the trip will be at DL.

You did well with your planning for your California trip and hope you get a good price for your Orlando trip.
I’m looking ahead to September and the current rack rates for Sapphire Falls are so much better than what I just booked for California. I’m going to keep my eye on flight prices for the next few months.
Yay, for Charade to have almost all her CA trip set. I think when we did DL, Universal and Hollywood, we stayed the GC when doing DL, then drove, and stayed at the Sheraton across the street from Universal. Was an easy walk to universal, and very close to the parking garage we used to tour Hollywood. We took in a movie in the Disney Theater and a meal and ice cream at the Disney ice cream parlor next to the theater.
I would love to stay at the GC and Sheraton, but those prices. :scared1: We loved the Disney theater. I’d like to go back again if something good is playing.

We are supposed to get a nasty mix of stuff in the morning. Possibly a bit of snow, but probably not.

I think I have done all the trip planning I can do for now. I guess now I will turn my attention to graduation stuff.

Ooh a night owl I’m not. Feeling sleepy, but was a nice day. Looking forward to a lazy Sunday.

Hope all have a very good night’s sleep. 💤

Sapphire is just beautiful, and good luck with the flight prices.

Got up at my usual early hour, it was blowing a hoolie outside, so went back to bed for a glorious late sleep! Love it, and I slept like a rock for almost another 3 hours. And when I woke up, the sun was shining and Tom had brought me a cup of tea....never heard him get up or shower then head downstairs.

Bullet Train....think it was Keisha who asked me about it......it was ok, not the hilarious romp we expected, and a little confusing at first, but I`d watch it again, some nice cameos in there. I do think it`ll become a franchise as the guy has written several of these books.

Then Tom surprised me.......asked if I wanted to just go ahead and book our flights for Nov/Dec......

Didn`t have to ask me twice!!!

Got online, my goodness, those flights are filling up already. Looked at several dates and couldn`t get Premium on the way out for any of them, but next best thing is Exit Row, so managed to grab two of them and Premium on the way home which is more important to us, and got the seats we like right at the back for that flight.

So, we`re booked for 16 nights, November into December and we`ll be there for Thanksgiving again which we really enjoyed.

Today, going a walk soon, despite the high winds, we need some fresh air, we`ll get plenty of that for sure, the sea is an angry sight this morning, so we`ll maybe head into the woods instead. Then a relaxing afternoon.

Doing chicken stir fry tonight, spicy and fruity too. Will cook both seperately as I have fresh ginger in mine.

Time to wrap up and head out soon.......hat, scarf, gloves and long coat I think.

Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday ☺️

Sunday it is. Now, those clouds just don’t go away, but at least they are not wet carrying ones. So local weather news said a mostly sunny day, with it cooler, as 41 the high temp. But seasonal temp day, so there’s that.

Great to have your late Fall flights sorted Schumi. For your longer flights, having the best seats is so important. I’m patiently waiting for flights for September.

Ah a quiet enough day. Yay. Asked little one to get up early to have breakfast out. Um, yesterday she said she set an alarm to be up early, but I guess she didn’t set it right or just slept through it. We did not get moving until well after lunchtime. Sigh. So I’m thinking it may be repeat today. Oh well. Not much that needs to be done today. My alarm is set, and back to this day for the trash cans rolled to the curb. That and a need for some paper products, and a drive up I need to do. Perfect Sunday here.

Thus, may all have a super serene Sunday. And yay, that now 10 day weather forecast saying what the last 10 day forecast said was going to be a snowy day, is now saying will be a rainy day, and high 20 degrees above freezing. I hope this current one is right. So a dry spell with the next wet day this Friday. Woot! No snow in our 10 day forecast. Happy homie here. And I’ll send an ark to Keisha, lots of rain you have been hsving.

Good morning homies.

The weather app says it’s snowing, but a look outside the window says otherwise. I am the only one awake other than the cat.

I think you`ve been before to DL?
Yes, just once. We were there in 2019 celebrating B’s high school graduation.

I would love to go in December again. Probably not this year though.

Didn`t have to ask me twice!!!
So u went into flight speed? Good for you!

I keep forgetting about wanting to watch bullet train. Literally, have quite a long list to catch up on. It’s been a real abundance of college & pro football in our house. Not complaining, just after 6+ hours I reach for a book.

Weatherman said it might just peek thru today during the Steelers game

Two roasts going into crock pot as oven isn’t trustworthy. Will have guaranteed leftovers for hot roast beef & gravy sandwiches tomorrow as it’s a day of long booked medical appts.

I made a big breakfast yesterday. Not planning on it today as mr appears to have caught a bit of a cold, hacking away yesterday. Going to let him sleep.

Yesterday he struck gold, finding a pkg of small lobster tails in freezer . Glad to see some flash frozen mussels in sauce for the rest of us. Had thot we’d be stuck with tuna sandwiches

You are going full circle! Does ur DD have any specific plans as to what’s next yet?

Immediate plans? Not a clue. She eventually wants to be a writer, but knows that will take some time. She’s going to try to get a job on campus this semester since she has such a small class load. I think she would do well with historical research, but don’t know what jobs are like in that field.

Exciting time for her. Most of my younger son’s buds with history majors (those that didn’t go onto law school) wound up working in DC, many at the various museums and in government.

let me introduce yesterday’s competition winner

Carole, I love your cat photos! Very funny, and true in my case!

So you are going to Universal the end of Nov. into December? That is the time we used to go to WDW. We found the first week of December to be a good time. You get all the Christmas decorations and not as many people. At least that was the way it used to be. I always get antsy to go that time of year. Who knows, maybe?

But it will be at Universal this time, if we go.

Have a nice Sunday. I am watching football all day. Yep, from 11am to after 10 pm. It's getting to the playoffs and then the super bowl. I am the football fanatic in our family, but Roger doesn't watch much. He retreats to his work shop to work on his woodturning projects. His Etsy shop keeps him busy. He's doing this with my daughter and they work together very well. The stuff he doesn't like to do, Robin does and vice versa:) They also do alot of shows around Christmas time. They really enjoy it and have a lot of fun.

I don't watch constantly for that long of a time. I cook, crochet, get on the laptop (like now), and sometimes read if it is boring. I should do exercises but never really seem to do it, LOL!

June trip booked last night. Staying in Disney but We will be heading to the dark side obviously.
We usually do 2 days but I’d like to do a day just chilling around the parks rather than stressing about getting on the rides. I’m actually very excited to take more time soaking up the parks.

Tom says I moved faster than he knew I could......lol.......

I still prefer books over tv most days, especially with some of the junk that`s on tv now....not sure why we have all the movie channels, sports channels and streaming options.....all to watch repeats from 30 years ago!!

Lobster and mussels.....lush!!! Much better than tuna which always looks like cat food to me! Unless it`s for sushi of course.....

Better get my Steelers cap on then if they`re playing today!!!

It`s good she has an idea of what she wants to do. There are so many options with writing and different fields to go into too, lots of opportunities out there.

Ruth

I couldn`t do a sit up if my life depended on it Ruth......lol......

We`ve gone four times at that time of year since 2017 and we absolutely loved it. Last time we had high to mid 80`s every day and it didn`t cool down at night. But we have had the odd bloomin cold day, but wrap up and don`t go to the parks those days. So, yes, we`re excited to go back again at that time.

Sounds like a lovely little set up with Roger and Robin.....it`s nice they can work together like that for something they both love.

Oh lord yes, that is a long time for sport....I can`t even watch 2 minutes of football in this country, I detest it. American Football.....well, now and again lol.....one man sitting beside us at the bar in Miller`s Ale House tried to explain it to me one night, he told us when to cheer in the right places.......we cheered on the Steelers one night in Longhorn at the bar too...hadn`t a clue, but it was fun.

Enjoy it though........ 🏈 (hope that`s the right ball 🥴)

Another lovely day, won`t say perfect as that seems to be being used a lot now, or so I`m told......😏

Stir fry was lovely, nice and spicy and very tasty, the new wok I bought is much heavier than the last one, so it is awkward serving it out, but Tom helps me pour it out.

Helped my friend with her booking today, going to Universal for 3 weeks in May/June, they arrive the week after we leave in May, but they`re limited due to his work, he won`t get back into the UK the day we leave Florida. Sorted her with RP and PB for a few nights, told her she has to go on the VC with her adult kids who are going too...doubt she will.

Will pop the tv on soon, more Taggart for us and maybe an early night for a change.

Time for a pot of tea.......

Congratulations to her! Hoping for no snow for you.

Sounds like a very good plan.

We may be shopping for a new TV soon. For the past couple of weeks we have had issues with it staying connected to the wifi. Then last night and again today (while dh was watching football) the screen just randomly turned gray and occasionally displayed “Vudu Fandango” which is a service we don’t subscribe to. We have no idea what is going on.

Ooh we had stir fry for dinner too, but not spicy, Schumi. Little one is in a heirloom tomato kick, so those sliced up, orange, red and green peppers, steak pieces, and white rice. Yum, nothing left.

Yay for gd, great pic, Keisha. Hope no snow too. Looks like we get rain/wintery mix tonight, so grass may look white tomorrow morning. But with some sun, and temps go above freezing, should be gone by lunchtime. But looks like rest of week, temps rising, so hope you get good weather in two weeks.

Yay for Vicks traveling in June. Perfect tone of year, as will he very warm down there at that time.

Ack Charade, good thing I see tvs all on sale lately. Hope you find a reasonably priced, even larger one.

Just chilling with some tea. When older one comes home, last of trash goes out. Then an early night for me, as very early bird wake up for me. Back to that week day routine, but at least a short yet week, with yay, 4 day weekend. Looking forward to this coming weekend. But a day of commuting, and four days until then.

They are about 70% less now than the one he purchased 5 years ago. He wants to get a bigger TV, but I think the one we have is big enough. I don’t want the TV to take over the living room.

Eh, we went from a 32 to 45 inch in our living room, Charade. I wanted even bigger, but the furniture that we have the tv on, only supports up to a 45. And I didn’t want to also buy longer furniture. We have a 65 inch in our family room. That’s the one the kids play online on. And the one I get to use in the early mornings, as neither kid is up at those early hours. We have all the apps on that biggest tv too. And yeah, the prices have gone down over the past years, thankfully.
