RBT Premium Fantasmic Trip Report

To help those that are on the fence, or trying to book the River Belle Terrace Fantasmic Premium Package, I thought I’d post my experience from last night July 19. I booked it 60 days out with no special trucks, maybe fast fingers or dumb luck.

It was my son’s 14th bday, so we ordered a celebration cake. We had never been to Disneyland, but were aware the seats were not that close. We did not realize just how bad the view was until we were seated at one of the worst tables. Our view was obstructed by the three rows of tables in front of us and two stone pillars.

We asked if we would be allowed to move our chairs at all to see and were told no, we could only only turn them directly around. Our only other option was to stand at the back of the restaurant against the wall of the building, which is what we and three other tables of people ended up doing. Basically, we were the same distance back as those who’d found a spot at the last minute.
The food in our rows also came much later, with dessert after the show (as others were leaving) while other tables received thiers during our appetizers. My son’s birthday cake never came either, but there really was no time left at that point.

As for the food, my shrimp dish was ok, although “creole veggies” were only beans. The rest of my family got the steak and scallops, and it was terrible. It tasted a bit off, and no one could stomach it.

I would highly recommend choosing another option to view Fantasmic. Beyond the food issues, the seating situation is a crap shoot. I have no doubt those seated in the front tables had a much better experience.

Our WOC experience at Wine Country tonight was light years better, and our trip has otherwise gone great thank goodness.

I haven’t been on the fence, just literally can not book this package as it sold out in seconds every time I tried…

But after reading this for the first time I’m maybe happy we didn’t get it?

The “view” you had sounds awful! I’m sorry!
To me, standing in the back against a wall completely defeats the purpose of this package.

We want it so we don’t have to stand and/or sit on hard concrete for a long time. But your report doesn’t sound like a good alternative. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks for the report. That's too bad they never brought the cake! Sorry your experience wasn't very good. It sounds like our 2019 time at the RBT premium dining. The food was awful and the view was just ok - I vowed to never go again but we did end up going this year and it was much better. I think it really depends on your seat. The food should always be good, though, or at least edible.

In over four decades of going to Disney parks it is the first truly bad experience I have had. The waiter did not even wish my son a happy birthday.

He and the manager also tried to claim the show covered the lagoon, so it wouldn’t matter if we could see the island. I understand there was little they could do and weren’t the ones who decided to put tables in such places, but it was such a ridiculous thing to say. It may me wonder if people are just willing to put up with more in Disneyland.

That is so disappointing! If they advertise a "premium" seated experience, you should not have to stand against a back wall to see. Thank you for sharing as this was going to be a secondary option for October.

This makes me glad I had to cancel mine a few weeks ago. I will say I would rather they NOT use that terrible table setup and decrease the capacity by one table than ANYONE get stuck with that.
I'm sorry about the experience that is definitely disappointing but hope you still had a fun trip :)

I always email guest services with my experiences good and bad , because without speaking up and feedback nothing can improve,

If we stay that late in the day to watch Fantasmic we pretty much get the same view from walking up last minute. Although, I do think it would be fun to be seated right in front!

Hopefully you were refunded for the lack of cake. Ugh! Happy that the reminder of your trip has gone well.

RBT is my least favorite sit down restaurant at both DL and DCA, so I would never consider paying for this, but thanks for the review, and confirming what I have thought about this package.

This is why I don't understand the hype of this reservation other than you get a chair and I know some folks need that. Even before Covid it got a lot heat for the inconsistent views and service. But before it had to be booked by phone and not online. I feel the online booking is why it's so hard now.

Yes, I think it really is just about the chair. The food was for sure better than our 2019 RBT package, but it still isn't my favorite in the park. I was actually surprised at how good the food was, and they let us order off the main menu, too.

It would be cool if Disneyland had some kind of extra where you could literally just buy a chair for WOC, Fantasmic or the parade. Like $10 for a chair in a reserved viewing area. For me, with my back issues, I just can't stand for hours waiting and definitely can't sit on concrete. So the only way I can really watch the night time entertainment is if I have somewhere to sit. It's way easier with fireworks or the parade to find a good spot close to when it starts, and I can usually find somewhere to sit.

Seriously. It would sell like hot cakes. $25 a chair! Heck make it $75 a person and include some sub par desserts in a to go box and a fancy wrist band...

You're so right! Chair, cupcake & wristband. People would love it.

Yeah... the F! Dessert Party was exactly what you're describing (chair in a great viewing section, box of desserts/cheese/fruit and coffee/hot chocolate/tea/water) and it was awesome. Really wish they would bring it back. Similar to WoC Dessert Party but no tables and no alcoholic drinks (though at the time nowhere in DL served alcohol except C33. Now that they've changed that I suppose it could include alcohol now too). Here's the box when we went in 2013...

ETA: I went back and found it cost me $160 in 2013 for 1 adult and 2 kids... no idea what the actual cost breakdown for adult vs child was though as my email only has the total.

I did this even longer ago. Probably early 2000s (maybe 2003 or 2004 when I was in college) and it wasn't even a box yet at that point. It was still a dessert buffet and hot coco/coffee etc. and it was great! No idea what the cost was then.

When I was little, I remember there being some type of viewing in the Dream Suite but can't recall if that was the dessert party area or if that viewing was completely different.

I did this dessert party with my larger family in 2006, and it was AWESOME. It was at the current Dream Suite balcony and only had maybe 10-12 crammed in spots available per show. Back then, that space was used for selling Disney art (which eventually got moved to Disneyana/Main Street later). I want to say I spent $55 per person which felt like A LOT at the time. But the whole experience was first class...

My sister and I took her 5 yr old granddaughter in 2006 to the Balcony Dessert Party for Fantasmic and it was spectacular ! Yes, I agree ..... it "was first class". At that time you had to call to make the reservation. I started speed dialing at 10 min to 8, my hands were shaking and when I got thru and actually got the reservation I burst into tears with joy. It had very limited seating / reservations. It was Magical sitting up on the balcony and all the fancy desserts and hot chocolate.

I always wanted to do this but never got around to it! That looks awesome. I also wanted to try the Fantasmic balcony dessert buffet. I'd love it if they brought those back.
