Where is Josh D'Amaro?

Precisely, what Disney should have done is created a fully realized 5th gate for star wars including the classics as well as the new characters. But in true disney fashion they put together two half baked SWL’s without many of the things people wanted to see like Mos Eisley and the cantina, Or how about a ride based on flying a x wing out of the base at Yavin, or a speeder bike ride through endor (flight of passage mechanism anyone)

I want everything you just said!! I think that’s my one main complaint... I wanted to walk into SWL feeling like I knew the place. (Don’t get me wrong, I still cried when I saw MF! 🙃) But I felt like it was missing something. For example, when I stepped foot into HP land in UO, I felt like I was in the movie!!!! The feeling of familiarity was overwhelming! I don’t know, that’s just me. I still love the place, though 🙂

If their goal is to appeal to big spenders, I'd say they're doing a pretty horrible job of it, though. If I've got a ton of money to put down on a vacation, I'm not going to be forking over thousands for a mediocre theme park experience that's a shell of what it could be. For the same price, a luxury cruise in Europe or an all-inclusive visit to some wonders of the world in Asia seem a lot more appealing.

I maintain that Josh and whomever else is in charge of parks experiences have dropped the ball in a major way. It doesn't really matter if he's nice to CM's (sorry, I know that sounds harsh). It matters if your guests are having a good time.

This 1000% as I can’t fork over 5k plus (almost the floor to stay onsite) for Mickey waffles. The “in Park” Epcot hotel will be a ghost town, much like the Star Wars hotel. Such a small percentage of the next generation will be able to afford it, this is a bottom up (or volume) business.

I can goto a French Mountain villa or the fake Disney one for the same cost. Very well todo people will not choose mobile order chicken fingers...

The Star Wars hotel will be packed. I've seen a ton of excitement for it both from people that I know and online. It won't be affordable for everyone, but there are a lot of Star Wars fans in the world who want to experience that.

An Epcot hotel would have a huge draw. One big reason that Beach Club and Boardwalk are so popular is that you can walk straight in to Epcot, no need to get on a bus. It's the same thing for the Contemporary and to some extent all of the monorail resorts. Having stayed at the Grand Californian it's very awesome to be able to walk straight from your hotel in to a theme park.

The true test of what D'Amaro can change is approaching. With the vaccine rollout, in the very near future it should be possible for Disney to bring back some experiences safely. I realize they are held more accountable than other theme parks due to their size, but such things as science proving 3 feet apart in masks is as safe as 6 feet apart in masks should allow for some relaxation and reinstating some previous experiences. We will soon see what was money and what was safety motivated.

please state your age bracket and income level. Please, also run the same projections for 20-30 year old people for the next 20 years... get back with me.

Empirical evidence is the worst form of data to use when trying to make an inductive argument. Most towns in America can’t afford current pensions, towns can’t rebuild roads, schools are under funded... only Disney nerds deny the reality that their Magical Kingdom will alway be magically awesome.

I'm not giving that out on an internet forum. That's an invasive question to ask.

What is a "Disney nerd"? That seems pretty derogatory. No one has a crystal ball so you can't predict what the future will be like.

yeah, it’s called Economics. No Miss Cleo involved.

please forgive my choice to words, not meant to be derogatory.

I feel like it's been safe to open a lot of this stuff before now, though. I mean, half the restaurants are still closed with massive mobile order lines to get any sort of food in the parks. It's been safe since they opened the parks to open all of their restaurants. It's also been safe to resume construction on their many projects, but they've been moving at a snail's pace.

But, you are right - if in the next few months the park experiences aren't opened back up in a major way it will be on Josh's shoulders. As you stated with the 3ft. guideline, they could be changing the line ups so people are standing closer together, eliminating the crazy snaking queues through the parks. Just do something, Josh - please!!

It's worth noting that the 3 ft guideline only applies to elementary school age children. The guidance didn't change for anyone in middle school or older.

I expect that things will open up in the summer. I think it will be slow. I only think capacity will go up if the CDC changes guidance. I do think Disney World will be as close to fully open as possible by the 50th.

Disney’s willing to host conferences and is hosting cheerleading competitions.

The Cessna very much a intimate experience with no naughtyness implied. Just anyone whose ever been in one will understand....

Oh, I understand especially in the 152 and 172. It was the Tomahawk that gave me fits (low wing blocking my landing views!).

Bringing it back to more on topic, I think you're correct that the communal experience is energy feeding off energy. There is something about walking in the parks and, usually, seeing joy on folks faces that can lift even the most depressed guest(s).

I can remember a time when I had dealt with all kinds of labor induced flight delays (When SWA bought AirTran), and joining my family a day late and I was in a foul mood when I got to BLT (at these times wife calls me Chief Thundercloud - she's 1/4 Cherokee so she's entitled to) so on way up to villa she asked me to get some sandwhich makings at the store in the contemporary I did and I was met by the most incredible CM one of those big fluffy ladies who you just cant feel down around in the 15 minutes I was in the store she turned my whole day around, That's what I loved about Disney not the senior leadership who embraced Flintheart Glomgold (a disney character btw) as a role model but CM's like this who make your whole day just by being themselves.

Yep, I agree with you that DVC is amazing. All those Disney trips and still cash in later if you want. :thumbsup2

The cashing in was a sad day, But we had enough of the poor service starting in 2015 a vacation is not having the rest of the family go out and enjoy themselves while you camp out at the front desk trying to get something fixed which should have been fixed before you arrived.
