So, kind of off topic but may be something some are interested in:

you tube channel - Traveling Robert.

I may be the last to find this and if so forgive me. Plus I'm just getting started looking at the vlogs.

This guy has been all over the country to big cities and the National Parks with his small RV. He's also been to Sweden, Norway, Finland, and other euro countries doing vlogs. So far I find his commentary and music and video very pleasant but I'm only scratching the surface. I accidentally landed on the Disney one from April 2019 where he stays at FWR and hotel hops to see other things.

I'm really looking forward to watching the National Parks vlogs - I hope they are good as what I've seen so far - again this is from a more camping perspective. So at times there are camping issues and RV repair, etc.

Hello all. Just wondering what the current best practice is for SW companion pass. I haven’t had it for a few years, and it was much simpler back then (1 personal, 1 biz). Is that still the go to strategy? Thanks a lot!

Interesting about the cats and the flu! My orange tabby always ends up on the foot of my bed by morning. The black Persian will sleep on the bench at the foot of my bed, but when she wants breakfast and if I don't get out of bed when she thinks I should, will walk across my pillow/head area.
I was sick around early December through Xmas but it was sinus, not flu. I am 67 and have never gotten a flu shot and probably won't ever willingly get one. Other family members get them. Daughter gets sick from the flu shot and is usually sicker looking and acting than I am when I get sick. Son and girlfriend both got shot and were recently sick, her more than him - she's a teacher and he works in a hospital. Kids get you sick, and hospitals make you get all kinds of preventive shots. I stayed away from all of them when I knew they were sick.

I got the flu shot when my dad was undergoing chemo and again when my mom was sick. My left arm was sore for a few days, but no flu-like symptoms. I wanted to get it this year but it's not covered by our insurance (Humana), so instead of paying $30.00 I passed. In retrospect I wish I had paid the $30.00 because I was so sick in the fall -- sicker than I have ever been with the flu (the first week I didn't go to the gym, had to take 3 days off work and felt horrible, second week was better, but still had sore throat and awful cough). I will definitely get the flu shot next year.

Dd told me last night that there are 30 students and 3 teachers in Palm Beach County in quarantine as they came into contact at Model UN with a student from China that came down with the flu. Still no word if the student from China has coronavirus but they are in hospital; students from Palm Beach are waiting to hear if the student has coronavirus, but all have been told to self-isolate until results are know. Hopefully results will be negative.

I was worried when Daughter returned from China/Cambodia and all her other far eastern stops but she has not been sick and it's been 10 days since her arrival back. It's the first thing I said when she came in my door and she had not heard anything about the virus at that point. She was not in Wuhan, so I was not overly concerned but still, I think of airplane air as not the most hygienic.

For those of you that use Serve to pay your bills, have you ever had it take a week for your payment to post? According to the Serve website my Chase payment was received and cleared last Friday the 24th, however, the payment still hasn’t posted on my DH Chase account. I also made a payment at the same time for my own Chase card and it posted almost immediately. Fortunately I made the payment very early so it’s not overdue yet, but I’m starting to get a little concerned since it’s been 6 days since they received payment.

Hawaiian airlines emailed with the option to bid to upgrade our seats to 1st/business class (lie flat seats is my biggest draw). It's 20+ hours of flight, so would be worth it.

Has anyone bid on an upgrade? There are 4 of us, so I'm not sure there will even be that many seats. What is a reasonable bid?

How long have you had the card and has spend always been consistent? Which cards did you try to get and got the pop up?

I've had the Amex Bonvoy card for almost a year now. Spend has been fairly consistent. I tried for the Hilton Biz, and when that didn't work I tried for the Hilton surpass.

I don't recall any chatter about that here, I would try the Flyertalk Forum on Hawaiin Air

The Hilton cards seem especially pop-up prone. If the Bonvoy is your first Amex card, they also don't have much history to go off of. How disappointing though since you have decent spend. :(

You may want to try other cards if there are any that interest you. If the goal is Hilton points, MRs transfer 1:2. Not usually the best use of MR, but can be if you have a specific redemption in mind. The MSR on a new card may get you out of the pop-up for the Hilton. No guarantees, but it's what I would try.

Alright folks! The new Delta credit cards are out carrying their new annual fees and new offers. A couple things to note
  • support link offers match public offer (from what I'm seeing)
  • can generate all Delta offers from ANY Amex card (I think- I tested Biz Plat, DL Gold and DL Gold Biz) so pick the card you make a link from wisely!
  • "after anniversary" add on of 10k-20k miles says it won't post for 8-12 weeks so if you don't intend to pay the annual fee don't count on on getting that
  • Are these all time best offers?! Not sure. Gold wise no, they don't really seem any better than what we just lost and there is no statement credit on offer for DL purchases *however* if you're in 2 player mode these could be very good offers for you
  • Support link offers expire 4/1 so there is no rush if you're interested but don't want one right now
Personally I'm sad the purple card has no place in my travel plans right now- I want a pretty purple credit card back in my cc arsenal!

ETA: I don't see support links for DL Business Reserve right now

Hilton is what I got my only pop up on and I do have a long 20 year history with Amex with 4 credit cards and 1 charge card. But, TBH I also have what in my own opinion is too many open cards and 200K of credit over all, but I never miss a payment, carry no balances and really try to use my Amex cards in the hope that at the end of this year I can get a couple of cards I want.

Booked our vacation rental for Venice for summer 2021, lol. Looks like a great place, good price, and fully refundable, so I pulled the trigger. First time using Airbnb. I've booked a lot of vacation rentals, but was never happy with their cancellation policy. Not sure if something's changed with Airbnb or if hosts in Italy tend to choose the most generous policy.

Churning fail though. I accidentally paid with my biz plat instead of one of DH's plats that I'm working on MSR. Should not be booking things at 1 am.

Was originally thinking I would try to use URs. But didn't see any options I was that happy with. 3 bedrooms work best when we take my mom and I didn't want anyone sleeping on a sofa bed. Decided not to settle. I'm sure I'll have no trouble using the URs for something else, lol.

Not a churning fail. If anything happens and you need a refund your account would be at risk of having the bonus clawed back. Even if they don't claw it back now if you tripped a review a few years down the road they could claw it back then.

I've noticed that of all the credit card bills I pay with Serve Chase takes the longest to post. I paid one on 1/25 and it just posted today, so five days. But one paid on 1/25 also posted today. So still shorter than your 6 days, but I think I'd give it another day or two. @platamama did have some problems with Serve bill pay she posted on Reddit recently though. I hope yours posts shortly.

Hmm...that's true. If sometime down the road, way past MSR period, I wouldn't be able to make up the spend. But then I should have used my CSR for 3x travel. So still kicking myself. 😆 Only comfort is that maybe I'm keeping Amex happy, lol.

That’s not too far from us. I hope the results turn out negative

The Hilton is what dh and I both got pop ups on too. He was able to get a BBP just fine though
