DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

This sounds very familiar.

DD is finishing her B.A. prior to commencing her B.Ed. She had all her courses lined up and... with a year to go, they changed the requirements for the B.Ed program. Now she's taking one course this term to graduate. That also means that now she's not a full time student so she doesn't have medical coverage anymore under mine and DW's health care plan until September.
I'm confused...I thought Canada had socialized health care. How would full time student factor into that?

If it's not "free", wouldn't it be better to take an extra class or 2 vs. not having medical coverage?

Well, it's a good news bad news thing. Or, glass is half full carp. I get to miss a meeting on Friday where I had to drive 3.5 hours. However, oldest is having her wisdom teeth cut out. She went to her orthodontist today for a checkup (retainer at night only), and he was going to release her for 6 month checkup. He ran an x-ray and they are all there and crazy aligned, just like my wisdom teeth 25 years ago.. I called the surgeon and they had a cancellation for Friday, so she's booked. It's a terribly expensive way too miss a meeting.

On a side note, she has been with this same orthodontist for 10 years now, and I only paid for palate expander, 1 set of braces, and retainer. Most others in town want to break their jaws and/or do two sets. of braces, each with their own charge. This is the same orthodontist that did my wife's teeth 30 years ago, and she can still wear her retainer.

I vote pizza. A bit of Prosciutto, a bit of Black Olive, an accompanying frosty Pale Ale.......

The black knight had me order from Papa John's. Just cheese though for my teens, as they won't try much of anything. I like pepperoni, mushroom, and banana peppers.

Ouch. Good luck to DD and to your wallet.

Morning brethren from an overcast London. Bored bored bored bored bored bored. I'm in one of those slumps where I want to do something, but can't get up the va va voom to do it. I feel a day of comedy on you tube is fast approaching.

It's good to have professionals you trust.

Nice. The pepperoni has to be used sparingly though, otherwise I think it dominates the pizza.
Is it Friday yet?
Very, very nearly mate. Hang in there. You're doin' the right thing.

It is the best of the chains store pizzas. We have that and Dominos next door to each other on the High St, but our local Italian restaurant does Pizza takeaway and its a 5 minute walk. I have to be feeling really lazy to not do that. I obviously have to take on the Black Knight on the corner though.
Prescription drugs, massages, dentists, glasses (that won’t be a problem), Physiotherapy... not covered.
Yeah, we're the same, apart from we get post surgery Physio gratis.

Have a great day chaps. I'm sure yours is going to be more productive than mine.

Was going to reply to Norm and then saw you replied and Multiquoting on the phone is a pain

I'm glad you like papa johns. I respectfully disagree. I think it is the worst of the chains...pizza sauce isn't supposed to be sweet. I like little Caesars. DW is Italian and makes pizza sauce (as well as others) and I make the dough from scratch, so if I'm in the mood for really good pizza, I make it myself. I guess just like Disney...some folks like some things, some like others. If it's ever papa johns, though, you're more than welcome to my share cause I won't eat it.

As for being bored...go build legos or something!

We don't have little Caesars over here. The main one's are Pizza Hut (aw hell nah), Dominos (nah) and Papa Johns. The local italian one is our go to though.

I hear ya on the make from scratch, I make my own dough and sauce, and we have a wood fired pizza oven that I built in the garden which is due for a warm up for the summer.

I like little Caesars because its cheap, but still good tasting. I like pizza hut okay, dominos meh and no way on pj. Like I said...good thing...different strokes for different folks.

When I first moved here, I was renting a house and there was a place near it that was amazing and reasonable. The house I bought is about 15-20 min away from that, but I'm thinking might be worth the drive. On the other hand, there are a couple places near us we'll need to try before we decide that.

I really need to plan a trip
over...

Bacon, brisket, steak, pizza.

Sounds like the teeth would be coming out no matter what. So better to not have to go to the meeting.

Time to break out the Diet Coke and Mentos.

I think it is the worst of the chains..

Sounds like we're starting a crappy Charles Dickens knockoff.

I find chain pizzas to be relatively interchangeable. None are great, but I'm happy to eat just about any of them. The only place I've seen totally screw up pizza to the point it was inedible was Chuck E. Cheese.

Well that's day one's menu sorted, what are gonna eat the rest of the week?

Sometimes, something relatively simple strikes me as very funny. They had these flyers at work in the break room. I think the proof reader in the ad department or the printers should be fired...

Ouch. Never fun to take a hit to the wallet. But dental expenses seem to be something none of us escape. DD19 has an appointment in a couple weeks about her wisdom teeth. I can't remember how much my insurance covers, but it's not 100%. Then there's the whole fight again about what she should be responsible for paying as a coming of age adult at 19 years old. She'll expect me to cover it. I'll say my insurance covers X amount, you should take responsibility for the rest. DW will be stuck in the middle. Same sh!t different pile.

Man, I have to get to your house someday. Set my place along side Doc's. I enjoy some wood fired pizza. The only restaurant that does it well here (similar to Via Napoli) is on the expensive side, so I don't get to enjoy it often.

Preach it sister! I don't have a favourite chain, or should I say I don't have a chain I like the least. Little Caesar's opened recently close to my house so we've been defaulting to that for proximity and cheap price.
Thankfully Chuck E. Cheese is nowhere to be found in my town. We did go to one in Orlando once. I still have heartburn from it.

Nope. It's correct. The savings are on the back... but at the top.

;)

(assuming that's what you referred to? Otherwise I missed it. Which is likely since I just got off work.)

Nice set up. ::yes::

Thanks for both.

If you're that bored, fly over and see me. You can take me out to eat and then to the bourbon bar. We have a local place called 54 Pizza, because the hwy # is 54 - not very original. They have the best pizza, but more expensive, and I'm not buying cheese pizza there.

g!

I think most chain pizza places are similar, and I like Little Caesar's. They don't deliver and I'm lazy. You know what they say - pizza is like sex. Even when it's bad, it's still good. :lmao:

True. It didn't take me long to make that decision.

it.

That's one a bit tricky. I paid for my own wisdom teeth removal back then, but I also had a job with health and dental insurance that paid 100% of it.

Actual Chuck E Cheese pizza:

That looks like an awesome set up. Next DDCC is at Dan's place.

::yes:: Almost used that line earlier. :rotfl2:
I thought at first it was a cookie pizza or one made from candy, but then I noticed the mushroom look an awful lot like cardboard. Then I realized so do the pepperoni.
That might actually taste better than the real chuck-e-cheese pizza (or PJ's). ;)

Bad, rough day at work. But I survived. Then got a touring plans notification that an earlier time for my Arrival Day O'hana Dinner ADR opened up...but the My Disney Experience app wouldn't let me enter my phone number to confirm the modification, so I quick called the reservation line, and during the 20 minutes I was on hold, the spot got gobbled up by another lucky person. Because of course it was.

Fastpass day in the morning. Gotta be up by 5:30 to be online by 6:00 (could sleep a bit later, but if I'm the first one up I'll have to let out and feed the dogs and that'll chew up 15 minutes. Still not quite sure what I'm going to do... I left DD21 with instructions to pick her top 5 attractions from each park...

Figment?? Enchanted Tales with Belle?
Or... Soarin' and Test Track... well, there can only be one. Same for Na'vi and FOP. Should be interesting.
