I love credit cards so much!

Chase Marriott people,

When do I start to panic about my 100,000 point bonus not posting? We applied for the card back in July with the 100,000 point bonus for a $5000 three month spend. We got a statement in August for the $95 annual fee. Our September statement had a balance of $5002.00 which we paid in full. I just paid our October bill - $145.00. Still our Marriott account only shows 10,295 points. I read on here that Chase was very slow to post bonuses, but I figured it would be posted by now. I need to book a rewards night soon for a December cruise. When do I start to worry, and how do I launch an investigation?
Edited because I misread.

People online say that it can take 30 days after the statement closing date for the month in which you reach the minimum spend requirement. My cards were both around 10 days.

I'm pretty sure it'll code as only 1x.

MPX never did pass through merchant category coding on Amex cards.

(MPX recently stopped pass through coding on Chase Sapphire and Ink cards too, with several DPs on reddit saying AirBnB GCs, which previously triggered the 3x travel categories on the CSR and CIP, earned only 1x.)

I purchased a $10 Starbucks GC on MPX recently using my Amex Plat,* and it posted as "UNITED AIRLINES 1-800-421-4655 TX"; click for details and you can see that the merchant is "MILEAGEPLUS X," the transaction is categorized as a "Special Service Ticket" with Passenger as "LAST NAME /MILEAGEPLUS X".

By comparison, an actual ticket purchased from United posts as "UNITED AIRLINES HOUSTON TX," with the merchant listed as "UNITED ELEC TICKETNG," categorized as "Flight on October 8" and Passenger as LAST NAME/FIRST NAME.

I have these two transactions on my most recently Amex Plat statement, and the MILEAGEPLUS X transaction earned only 1x, but the UNITED ELEC TICKETNG transaction earned 5x. Amex seems to have figured out a way to weed out MPX transactions from earning 5x. I expect MPX to work the same way with the Amex Gold.

*I could have bought a Starbucks GC on Gyft, OD/OM/Staples, Lowe's, through RMN offers, etc., but I was in a pinch and decided to take a small opportunity loss to put some spend on my Amex cards. There's also a small part of me that hopes MPX may start coding 5x again one day, as improbable as that is.

Oh, that's too bad but thanks for the detailed info. I'll have to file this away in that part of my brain that keeps track of such things (which unfortunately glitches on occasion).

I hope you get your points soon, sounds like it's not long from now.

I will point out that you do not need points in your account to make an award night booking. Just go ahead and reserve the property you want now, and when you have your points in your account, you can pay for your room that way. Your reservation will need the points payment 10 days prior to your check-in. This is true for Marriott properties that were Marriott pre-8/18/18. If you're looking at a property that was a Starwood property prior to 8/18/18, then this points advance functionality may not be in place yet (despite the merger).

ETA: Check the "Use Points" button to make the reservation. Making a cash reservation and later using points for it is not the same thing and won't work. There has to be award night availability in order to reserve an award night.
I made points reservations for my July 2019 South Africa trip as soon as the rewards nights for my dates opened up. I’m going to use some of the leftover points for the pre cruise night. I just didn’t want to book anything else until I was certain I had the bonus points because the SA trip is my first priority. This probably makes no sense though.

All this movie talk is very timely. I went a movie today for the first time since about February. $9 for a matinee, but it was a good movie. I did pick up a regal gift card at Kroger for 4x fuel points beforehand!

I think I'm going to call Chase tomorrow and PC my CSP To CFU. I copied a fresh referral link today so I can refer DH once we get done with SPG Biz. We're halfway through the 5k spend. Someone please smack me the next time I suggest an Amex with 5k spend.

Nice! I’m excited to have them in the entire house and have the carpet gone. (Hopefully I won’t miss the carpet when the winter comes.)
I’m not a fan of carpet although we do have area rugs in some rooms. The wood floors are not as cold as tile but an area rug at least takes the chill off when you get out of bed on those cold mornings.

Has anyone gotten this to work on iPhone? I have Walmart app and Walmart pay set up but no option for Add Chase Pay as described above
I was just going to say the same thing. I've been trying to get it set up as well. I'm on an iphone 5 and according to Walmart it should work. On walmart.com there is an option under payments for more and chasepay comes up, but when I try to add payment on the app I can only add a gift card or another credit card. I hope we can get this figured out. Thanks for sharing @disneymagicgirl! We do a ton of Christmas shopping at Walmart and a lot online so I am excited to use be able to use the portal and also get 5% on CF!

And I figured out recently that atom tickets also waives convenience fees and let's you use your stubs rewards with them, and Costco sells a $100 gift card pack for $75

Yes! I book a lot through atom tickets. They do waive the fees and I get Stubs rewards. last year, maybe around black friday, Costco sold the $100 Atom tickets GC for $65. We bought 3 :D

Am I understanding that you had enough points on hand to make your SA reservations? The thing with points advance bookings is you do NOT need the points on hand to book the awards night (again, with the caveat that it's for a Marriott brand hotel, not an SPG legacy hotel - SPG hotels require you to have points on hand). For example, I've made numerous future reward bookings at Marriott (Marriotts, ACs, Courtyard, doesn't matter as long as it's a Marriott brand) and I don't have enough points right now. But I plan to by the time 10 days prior to check in rolls around. The only thing that will happen if you don't have enough points by 10 days prior to check-in, is you can buy points or the reservation gets canceled. I don't see any reason to not book an award pre cruise night, because you won't lose anything. You could even make a cash booking as a back up plan, since you usually have 48-72 hours prior to check-in to cancel without penalties, if your heart is set on that particular property.

Amex MRs transfer 1:1 to Marriott, URs transfer 1:1 to Marriott, so those are pots you can draw from if you have them (not the most valuable use of them, but still).

Honestly, I don’t know what a movie costs nowadays either. A few months ago, we were paying $13/ticket at AMC; more recently, we’re paying $7.79/ticket. I don’t really like the tickets from Costco because they’re blacked out for (most? all?) new releases on opening week and maybe the week after. We’ll often sneak in water, popcorn, and snacks, too; but when we do buy drinks and snacks, MPX can be really handy.
Our AMC is $5 for the first showing any day or $5 all day Tuesdays with a Stubs membership. We sneak in everything lol. Water, candy, popcorn...

Has anyone churned the Barclay Arrival+?

It's been over 4 years since DH earned the bonus on the Arrival+ and I'm interested in getting it for him again, especially with the MC Plastiq promo. He's 5/24 right now, will be down to 4/24 once I remove him as an AU from my CSR. "He" (I jest, of course it was me) opened an Aviator card last year, closed it this year, and had the Arrival+ from 2014-2016. No other Barclay cards.

Any recent reports that anyone has heard of?

@platamama I had the Arrival Plus about 5 years ago cancelled it when they changed some terms. I got it again last month; just been putting mortgage on it so haven’t met spend so can’t say for sure will get bonus. Fingers crossed. Before I got it though I found a thread on Reddit about it being churned successfully recently. I know @striker1064 and @gottalovepluto are familiar with it too.

Weirdest thing? They still had my bank account information in their system. I didn’t add anything to make the first payment. I’m paying the mortgage next month and then think I will have DH get one. (Assuming my bonus posts and I don’t decide I hate them).
