Has anyone used the Marriott offer on their AMEX card?
DETAILS
Get a one-time $60 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $300+ on room rate and room charges when you pay for your stay with Marriott from 8/27/2018 to 10/25/2018. See terms for exclusions.

Have a stay at the Westin Nashville starting tomorrow. I will pay for one night, company is paying for the other 3. Room rate is 279 with tax is 349. Was going to use my SPG Biz but wondered if the offer will kick in. Is tax considered room charges or is that only things like room service?

AmEx doesn't count returns when auto calculating the bonus. So in reality you are under but if you added all purchases without subtracting returns did you make it? Still need to spend it either way but might explain it.

Thank you!!! You are right exactly. In this case my upgraded/prorated fee has not posted yet but the $300 travel credit did post. (Or at least $227). When I added everything up it was short $220. Add that credit back in and at $5007 (although some credits still pending). This has been driving me crazy. I even went through my posts on this thread from mid August to see if I posted what the offer was when I upgraded. Not as much as some but I post a lot. :)

A bunch of us have used it. I used it on a stay for the room over Labor Day. It has even been successfully used on Marriott gift cards.

Tax will work. Amex only cares about the total.

So only if I include tax will I be over 300. Will that work? or since the room charge is only 279 I'd need to spend another $21 on something.

We've always been able to use Costco tickets at any movie, including new ones. They're not considered "passes" by the theaters.

That's not been our experience. We've been turned away with our "passes" too many times to bother. :worried:

Hmm, now I see that it says "room rate". I missed that before. I don't see how Amex would know how much of the total is room rate, but I don't want to give you bad advice, so maybe someone else will know for sure?

I wonder if it's because you go to AMC? We've used the Cinemark and Regal.

There's the confusion! Yes, I was talking about AMC tickets sold at Costco. They're usually blocked out for the first week or two. I've never had problems with Cinemark or Regal tickets from Costco being accepted.

I heard the f word once and didn't notice any other swearing. There is death but you don't see it, though one part you do but there's 0 gore. You see a coffin lowered once otherwise the funeral stuff is all the after at the house stuff. It is about him, his family and his job. It's called first man not first trip to the moon, so it is about him. But I found a good amount about space.

I would say if he's seen hidden figures and liked it that this would be fine. It is 2 hours and 10 min though. I didn't get bored though but I knew what the movie was going in.

Thanks, and to Haley too. Could never figure out the multiquotes :upsidedow We'll probably wait to rent it then, he's not so into the touchy feely stuff. Swearing does not bother me, there's nothing he hasn't heard before. :rotfl:Thanks for the details though, that helped!

Hard to say. I used mine to buy a gift card at a Marriott and it worked (gift cards are specifically excluded from the promo). Marriott just put the charge on the card with no explanation. I would think that they would charge the full amount to the card in one charge rather than break it down by room charge, tax, etc, but I can't be 100% sure.

I would wait due to the length, there's not really any touchy feely stuff outside of the first bit of the movie when their young daughter dies. Figure since it's a movie about a real person and we all know he made it to the moon, that's not really a spoiler. You see Neil cry by himself. There's really not many kisses either. Hidden Figures is way more touchy feely, but I do think while the movie was geared towards everyone it was geared more towards women. I think this is the same but more geared towards men or it just seems that way since it's about a guy. I had to look up to see what it was rated and aside from the minimal swearing I don't fully understand why it's PG13 unless it's to show that it's a more adult movie and that young kids would be bored so they didn't want it PG.

wow, the 15k Self referral bonus kicks in pretty quick... dont even have the card yet.

Yeeeeep. Posted and cashwd out to Schwab before I even got the email from Amex telling me the card shipped. Trying super hard to restrain myself from just going nuts with this.

How do you input the GC to pay? I looked before and couldn’t find a way to do it, so I’ve been getting 1x points or hitting msr with my orders.
When I use Gyft I go in to the store to purchase the WM gift cards. I then use the preloaded gift cards for my purchases. I haven’t done any online shopping with them. I’m not even sure our WM has online shopping for grocery pickup. I’m just happy to get the 5x UR for my groceries. I use the same WM gift card for $.03/gallon savings in the gas station that is in the parking lot. That particular gas station isn’t owned by WM but offers a discount with WM gift card.

so I love Walmart grocery. I’ll be going back to use the other Amex offer I have. The quality of the packaging I think compares to Fresh Direct. Everything was bagged properly and they asked me to check the produce quality and eggs before putting it in my car. Very impressed and the food is so cheap. Definitely recommend trying it and using the Amex offer if you have it. Oh, I also then parked and went inside and got a MO.

What would a trip without one be?? Just a wasted trip!

It'll work, Amex is just looking at the total charge, not broken down. I think they say that to mean a stay and not just eating at the restaurant or buying at the gift shop off the street. But if the charge comes from the front desk it triggers it (hence why peoples gift card purchases were working).

Chase Marriott people,

When do I start to panic about my 100,000 point bonus not posting? We applied for the card back in July with the 100,000 point bonus for a $5000 three month spend. We got a statement in August for the $95 annual fee. Our September statement had a balance of $5002.00 which we paid in full. I just paid our October bill - $145.00. Still our Marriott account only shows 10,295 points. I read on here that Chase was very slow to post bonuses, but I figured it would be posted by now. I need to book a rewards night soon for a December cruise. When do I start to worry, and how do I launch an investigation?
