Trial Club Level Fastpass+ Purchase Program Planning & Discussion

As my 60 day FP booking window grew closer, I decided to pull the trigger and book CL FPs for our trip the week after Thanksgiving. I'm still not 100% thrilled with this program, like I described after we used the CL FPs in June- and EMM at MK and HS take care of many of the headliner rides for us. It really came down to wanting to book before 60 days so I could stick to my schedule, and have good FP options in the afternoon lined up since we tend to park hop. I remember last year when we went this same week and hopped to Epcot when MK closed for MVMCP- there were quickly no FPs available in Epcot since everyone had the same idea!

I specifically asked DSS about nighttime show viewing, and was told that part of the program had been permanently removed. I was not given FPs for Fantasmic or Illuminations.

I've tried to move around a few of our regular FPs since booking, and am really surprised at the limited times available. Not sure if the times aren't all loaded yet (my 60 day window opens next week) or if things are already booked, but it's made me relieved I have my FP plan in place for 3 days. I'll report back with whether I felt it was "worth it" this time after our trip!

Haha, a repeat DISer! I haven’t brought myself to book again on any of our planned trips. :-)

I suspect the limited availability you’re seeing is probably due to being close enough to your 60 day window (and already in a lot of other peoples booking window) and a busy time of year (generally speaking). Also contributing is probably the tiny/basic hours currently published that far out - fewer overall hours of FP booking available.

Hope you have a good trip!

I really wasn't going to do it... but the stress and my Type A personality got to me! :headache: Hoping for a better experience this time although my expectations of "value" are lower!

It's interesting- I had absolutely no problems getting the exact times I wanted through DSS, but there are definitely not many times available on MDE. I tried moving things within hours of booking, and so I have to wonder if DSS was able to use some override abilities to get the times I wanted. I know they all pull from the same pool, but I don't know how else to explain it.

So we are going the same time and booked the CLFP+ for pretty much the same reason you did. I had the same problem. We went in to move some FP's around right after we booked and we were able to easily. Last week we went to check on FP times and there were none available at AK for Kilimanjaro Safaris. I counted the days and realized it was 2 weeks from our AK day and I just figured it was people booking FP's at their 60 day mark. I was glad we booked our CLFP's at the beginning of our trip with all of the hard to get ones. I am hoping that at 60 days we won't have problems booking the rest of our FP's. I am hoping this program proves itself to be worth it to us. I also will report back when we get back as to how this works.

Due to rumors I've read about this system being extended to other resorts, I wanted to compare these purchased FastPasses to Universal's paid Express Pass system. However, I am having trouble understanding Universal's setup. There's no apples to apples comparison is there?

With Universal you purchase a pass that is good all day, no scheduling, just hop in the express lane (I'm confused on cost and I believe it is good for one turn per ride). With Disney, well, we all know the restrictions. If I'm understanding Universal's system, theirs looks amazing in comparison to Disney's.

Universal's Express Pass is truly awesome! My family went to USO summer of 2017. We stayed at Portofino Bay Club Level and the stay included an "unlimited" express pass. (You get unlimited express pass when staying at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock and Royal Pacific). I didn't need to schedule my ride and I could go anywhere at anytime and not restricted by schedule. It was really awesome!

I have been stalking this thread ever since the program began as there is no information on Disney's website about it. If it weren't for my TA and you guys I would have been at a total loss. So thanks for everyone that has shared their experiences on here. :)

I called this morning at 9 AM to make our club level fast passes and it went very well. I was only on the phone for about 30 minutes to make 3 days worth of fast passes for 3 people. The CM had to put me on hold several times as she was having some technical difficulties, but in the end she got everything I wanted within 10 to 20 minutes of my requested time - some even to the minute that I asked for. I did ask about the nighttime viewing just to see what she'd say and she only said that had been discontinued - no offer for an extra fast pass and I didn't ask for one.

We now have most of our more difficult to get passes booked, which will greatly decrease my stress level on our 60 day window. That's good as we will be on a cruise at the time, and I will be relying on ship wifi and / or cell phone coverage (we'll be docked in Portland, ME) to make them. I agree with a lot of others that the $$ value of this is questionable under a lot of circumstances. We will be there Dec 15 - 22 and plan on taking advantage of a lot of the holiday extra activities, doing the Keys to the Kingdom and the Scuba tours, etc. Just finding three days where we even wanted 6 fast passes was a challenge. However, with all of the problems with MDE right now and the difficulty of getting fast passes for the newer rides, I'm still OK with the extra cost. At the end of the day, booking this way probably saved my cell phone from being tossed into the ocean 60 days out! :rotfl2:

Part of me greatly dislikes the inequity of this program where by spending the extra $$$ for club level we get access to things quite easily that so many folks have to stress, plan and fight to get. I always liked the fact that prior to fast pass + everyone, regardless of where they stayed or how much they paid for those tickets, had the same access to the paper fast pass system - much fairer. But the realist in me realizes that those days are gone, and this is the system now. We are very fortunate that we can take advantage of it, and so we did.

Thanks again to everyone for sharing their own experiences on here. For us, at least, this system worked really well and I'm happy with the cost vs value for our trip and our particular circumstances.

I agree with most of your post. I do understand why you feel there is not a value for 3 extra any tier FP's without the added viewing areas. I too was torn about this program when they removed the viewing areas because it was cheaper than a dessert party and I would rather have 3 extra FP's than desserts.

What I disagree with is your feeling there is an inequity with this program. This is just a trial program. I think it is only offered for CL guests because they felt it would be a big enough sample to decide whether to keep this as a "perk" for CL or if it is a big success, then open it up resort wide. A PP stated a CM said it is going to be rolled out resort wide but that is totally unconfirmed because we all know how accurate CM information can be.

If they decide to keep it CL only I think that would be great because there are so few perks for staying CL. There is no benefit for them to book your reservations, regular FP's or anything else because they have no special privileges or ways to get you something that the regular guest can't do. There is the food and drink, the nightly turn down service and in some resorts nicer rooms but that is the only perk and without a discount you pay dearly for it. So I feel being able to book some of your FP's at 90 days is at least something special for CL guests. I think this program staying CL only is just a dream.

My feeling is this is just another way for Disney to make extra money that people are willing to pay for. I am not judging because I am one of them. I think if this is successful they will roll it out resort wide and then increase the price until it hits the breaking point. So don't feel bad about it not being equal or fair because I'm sure soon everyone that wants to pay for the extra FP's will be able to.

Hope you have a great Dec trip!

I am guilty of literally throwing all my paper notes across my home office the first time I booked FPs so I completely get this. And by "across" I mean about a foot because that's really as far as uncrumpled paper flies- as such it was very unrewarding (and the only time I've ever thrown anything out of frustration just in case any is wondering if you have a maniac on your hands here ;). I cracked under the Disney stress and I wasn't even in a park!

There is something a bit different about the CL FPs I think. On my phone call I remember the CM mentioning the CL FPs were easier to get the times for than the regular ones. The regular FPs give them the exact same problems they give us but the CMs are more familiar with the systems and my CM was able to adjust them to the right times for the most part. I was surprised their IT was as crappy as ours for normal FP booking (ie want a 10 am FP but all you get is 9:50 or 10:20, book it and then find a 10:05, book that and then you can't seen the 10am one you want but then you pull out the app and a 10am one shows. I used to think there were other people booking and dropping those FPs until I was on the phone with DSS and they had the same issues but there wasn't really anyone else booking and dropping them that far out. It's just typical crappy Disney IT.)

For anyone who has already completed their CL FPP stay/experience, I would be really interested in feedback on your experience in modifying any of your CL FPP's while in the park. Were you able to modify on the fly with decent selection (i.e. at least as good as you would be able to do on MDE yourself with same day fastpasses)?

I haven’t experienced it yet (11 more days!!!) but from what I understand, it’s difficult to modify the CL FP as it has to be done by a CM via DSS and once their office is closed for the day, no dice. But someone correct me if I’m wrong.

We just purchased our CL FP+ for our upcoming split stay (12/20-12/23 at WL; 12/23-12/27 at BC). They of course had to be booked on separate days because of the 90 days from checkout rule, so I did the first set and my H did the second. For mine, the system was glitchy and I was on the phone with the CM for what seemed like an eternity (about 45 minutes) but in the end we did get all the exact times we asked for except for one (5 minutes off). H, however, was done in 15 minutes. He said he thought he had a more experienced CM than I did (not sure what he was basing that on), and again was able to pretty much get all the exact times we wanted. We didn't ask about fireworks viewing areas because we'd already purchased dessert parties in EP/MK/HS and a ROL dining package in AK. We did change one of the "free" FP+ yesterday, though, because we decided to book the parade viewing package at MK, which required changing a prebooked FP time, and it was super easy. I too, like a PP, feel a bit guilty about how easy it all was compared to what we usually go to getting up super early and stressing over trying to get the hard-to-get FP+. I also agree with the other PP who said that some days it was hard to figure out 6 FP+ we actually wanted...particularly with EP. But wow, it's really nice to have it all taken care of! Hopefully in the end we'll feel it was worth it and won't regret having tried it. I'm a little worried about the "forced 1 hr" between rides because we're usually good at refreshing and getting 4+ and moving up FP times...but given how crowded these dates will likely be, I have a feeling we probably wouldn't be able to do as well with refreshing as we usually do and will be very glad to have our 6 already booked. :)

Yes, the CL FPP's do have to be changed by calling up DSS. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with doing this day-of. I've had pretty good luck making tweaks for my upcoming trip in a few weeks and will report back on my experience as well.

I modified a few day-of. It was relatively straightforward once I had the CM on the phone, just cumbersome. It would have been much faster/easier to have the ability to do it from the app on my phone. I wanted to know which attractions were available at a particular time (like you can see on the app), but I was told it wasn't possible to do that. Instead I had to name attractions, and she told me what time (if any) those had FP available. We ended up switching to ones I knew would have lots of availability just so that I wasn't on the phone forever asking the CM to check. I wish they would let guests have the ability to modify the extra FPs in the app. At least I can I didn't have to wait on hold at all- my call was answered promptly.

I didn't try to change our FP experience completely but I did call to attempt to modify times on a few because we were running late. I called DSS but they were unable to change the time for us as there were no other times available. I think same day changes are going to be just as challenging as they would be for regular FP, unless you were using them for less popular attractions.

I just made my yesterday for our Christmas trip. I'm interested to see how it all works out once we get there. It was super simple to do ... just called in and said I want 7DMT at 9-10, BTM 10-11, Space Mountain 11-12, etc. so that part seemed super easy to do. I wasn't aware we could go ahead and book all six FP when we called in at 90 days (I didn't really read up on it a lot), so I had to scramble and try to think of what additional rides I wanted and when. But so far I am happy with the experience.

If you change your mind over the next couple weeks just call DSS, it’s easy for them to modify FPs up until the general FP booking starts.

Or if you want to change the three "regular" FPs, you can do that yourself now (it's the three "Extra" ones you need DSS for). It's actually kind of fun to play around with when still far out from your trip when you can literally have your pick of any ride and time slot. :-)

Thanks for the report @TwinkleKS

CL FPP are in the same pool as the regular FP. So what you see on MDE would be the same as what DSS offers to you, no more and no less. CM at DSS would adjust your CL FP based on what's available. I did call DSS twice during my trip in the summer just to move up/down my FP time. Neither time I was able to change my FP just because nothing was available.

I have a question for everyone who's done the CL FP. When I go onto MDE app and I look at all my FP I can see the times for my regular FP's, but not for the CL FP. It says 'See Redemption Details' on the MDE app. Is there a way to actually see the times that I have each FP? I've tried the website, which is an useless as the app is- When I click on the FP portion of the website I end up getting Olaf's "Whoops" page.
