Debt Dumpers - 2018

Oh wait, I think it was only $300 when we did it. The $500 one is expired now right? It’s hard to juggle current accts and still look for more. I try to not bite off more than I can chew.
I got $400 from Incredible just from referrals and still due to get the main $100 for direct deposit. That was sweet!

We did it in 2017. Also, the Fulton Bank bonus is churnable but I just realized when I sent them a SM to close my acct last year, they never did and it’s still open. Grrr....
Nice. I did Fulton, BBT, Columbia, BMT(philly), Chase, and Wells Fargo.

I’ll be following your trip out west. I just booked our flight to Vegas for spring break 2019. I have Bryce Canyon and Zion NP on our list. Now I have to book our flight back. Waiting on SW.
We have been swimming. and swimming. and swimming.:fish:

I'm almost done my vacay fund for our fall trip out west, just 2 more weeks til it's done. Next goal is a Christmas fund of $5k. There is usually $ leftover but I like having it so I don't add to my holiday stress. The leftover is a bonus addition to the next goal in line which will a new/new for me car, hopefully by the end of the year.

Ds graduated HS and at graduation received a Character Education award with a check for $250. His Community Service teacher gave a speech about all the nice things he has done for the school: sanding/painting picnic tables, gardening, and overall go-to guy for anything electrical or mechanical. He also attended many times to a cemetery to clean up a sadly, "forgotten" cemetery for civil war heroes. He also attended a "soup kitchen" at a very poor city nearby to make sandwiches and give out meals to the poor.
omg, by the time she was done going on and on about all the good he has done, I was crying. So so happy to have gotten it all on video. I'd rather not post bc it mentions teachers names specifically and shows others students.
Anyway, he went through a really rough time in 9th-11th grade and really put dh and I through the wringer. It was like some alien abducted our sweet boy and left in his place a mean, selfish, lying, stealing, evil pr*ck in his place. He has come so far since then and this speech just reminded me how far he has come. :lovestruc :love1:
Sure he still leaves dirty plates in his room for days, dirty clothes on the floor but I take comfort in knowing he has a good, kind heart which is a far more important trait, imo. Being cleaner will improve when he gets his own place, or at least I tell myself it will. lol.

He had his wisdom teeth pulled around 10 days ago. Thank God that's over with. He did well but after choosing my vacation week (back in Dec) to coincide with his graduation and having time off to take him and help him as needed with recovery, later his bff offered to drive ds with him to the camp they like if he chose this week. It's a 4.5 hr drive each way so having his friend drive them there so that we don't have to sounded wonderful. It saves us from taking him ourselves, check in, kiss goodbye, and turn around and drive back 4.5 hrs! :headache:
I was so hoping he wouldn't have any complications that would ruin/cancel camp for him and glad it all worked out. He didn't want it done really but his impacted teeth were pushing on the rest and would eventually ruin all the alignment his braces created so no point in ruining that time, money & pain for braces. Also our insurance covers it 100%, just $25 copay for the consultation. If he waits til he has a problem and NEEDS them out asap, his own insurance some day would most likely not cover it as much. Of course he doesn't quite believe all of this but hopefully when he's older, some day he'll agree that it's better to be proactive than reactive.
They left for camp this morning and he's feeling great so as long as they get there safely :worried:, it's all good.

In our 100 degree heatwave, a fuse blew on our AC yesterday. By the time we realized the AC wasn't running, it was approx 80 degrees. Dh doesn't do HVAC but he has some knowledge about a lot of trades and has an ohm tester and could tell that the 2 fuses showed a different reading. Not knowing exactly what it should read, he couldn't tell which was the faulty one but by luck :shamrock: he had 2 spares and changed them both. By then it was 86 indoors! :headache: :faint: His bff is in the business and installed the unit and probably has a guy on call but we didn't want to bother them unless we really had to. So glad it was something dh could fix! I made him go to Lowe's and buy 2 more fuses to keep handy. I set it to hold temp at 68 and woke up freezing. :yay: :cold:
I will never, ever complain again about all the crap dh stores in the garage. :love2: :lovestruc

Yes expired. Current offer is $200.

Well, my dad totally blessed me and paid for my dog's procedure in full but I just had to take her back for a separate swelling/hardness higher up on her haunch and it's likely a secondary foxtail. I'm paying for this one and it's slightly less money because she's been on antibiotics and will not need them IV'd into her system. It's still a chunk of change at $300.

I'm about to go put a torch to my yard to get rid of these devil weeds! :furious::furious::furious:

Did those too. Second time for Chase. And PNC is an easy $300. Once the bonus posts you can downgrade it to a lower dd requirement.
Can you do Citadel? You have to work in Philly (or your dh). I actually had to email a copy of my work ID. That was an easy $250 and IIRC they recently raised it higher.

I got $400 from PNC last year in the new Voorhees cedar hill branch. DH got $300. I’ll look into citadel.

Need opinions.

In March 2019, my car will be fully paid off. I was originally planning on putting that ~300 dollars toward my student loans every month. Keep in mind that if I do this, I STILL won't be paying the amount I would pay if I were on a 10 year plan.

But, now I'm thinking of holding off on the student loan and putting it toward my consumer debt. If I put it toward my consumer debt, I can be completely debt free (not including my student loans) in October 2019. Technically it would be slightly earlier because I'm not including what I would pay between now and March 2019.

I'm thinking about just having it go toward my consumer debt because the interest rates are like 4-5x higher on my consumer debt than my student loans and it would clear up about ~100 extra a month once they are paid off + the 300 for my car loan. I can then throw all $400 toward my student loans.

On the other hand, my student loans are really high, so wouldn't it be smart to throw as much toward it as I can? Or should I split it up somehow? Hmm...

Personally, I would pay off the consumer debt. It’s a higher interest rate and viewed upon in a more negative way compared to a student loan, car loan or mortgage.

Also the fact that you can make the consumer debt disappear relatively quick would then free up more monthly cash to attack the student loans with all your might.

Thank you! I feel like I just needed affirmation.

Ohhh. You will like BC and Zion. We did that in 2014. Ds18 was 14 and so happy you only have to be 14 to ride an ATV out there. That was the highlight of our trip for them. We also drove to Page, AZ to go rafting down the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam and and walked through a slot canyon. So beautiful.
Since we were already changing hotels from UT to AZ, we didn’t feel like doing another split stay between Bryce and Zion so we rented this house which is halfway between the 2 parks.

Plenty of room for all of us to spread out and we didn’t have to pack a ton since it has a W/D and we could drive to Page with all clean clothes.
Have fun planning!!

I'm impressed by all these accounts/ bonus offers. Are these normally checking or savings accounts?? I'd get confused with so many accounts lol

Yes, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE DoC!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:cheer2::banana::cool1: :worship:
I found them 2 yrs ago and have been churning bonuses ever since. I also open them for dh and ds21 when possible. At one point I was moving money among close to 30 checking accounts. It takes some time, a lot of patience, a lot of reminders and meticulous recordkeeping to keep track of it all. It truly pays off, esp when you consider the hourly rate of income! The time spent on this is a few minutes here and there so it doesn't feel like a burden.
For 2017, dh and I had over $4800 in bank bonuses, ds had $3200. Sure you have to claim it as income on tax returns but I look at it like this: If my employer said, "ruadisneyfan2, would you like a $4800 raise this year? If you take it you will have to declare this income." Would I decline it? Of course not.
Like Steve Miller says, Go on take the money and run.:yay:

This year I'm up to $2150 so far with $250 pending. This has been a big part of paying down debt since I made sure every single bonus $$ went to debt and made sure it didn't end up in the general fund.
I didn't even know about DoC! I'm going to set aside time to look over all of the offers. $4800 is amazing, @ruadisneyfan2 ! I'd be out of debt in half of the time if I could churn like that!

I haven't checked Fidelity today to see if the money had been credited to the account. Figure with getting this small bonus, I can start churning others. I already have a calendar reminder to close out the account April 1. I suppose having reminders like that helps.

Never mind, I should have actually looked at it before commenting. I see some do require a certain number of transactions. I will be keeping an eye on this site, thanks so much!!

Some require accounts to stay open for a certain amount of time. Others don’t. Glad you’re able to take advantage.
