Disney Gift Card Deals

Sam's Club gift card- opinions please :) I have the amex offer on 2 cards so was thinking I'd purchase $60 worth of gift cards, eat the 10% non-member fee (not interested), and flip them into Disney at my local Walmart. But the reviews online are HORRIBLE! Almost every single review sites "activation problems". It's to the point where I don't even know if I believe those reviews but they go on and on and on like that, spread out over time. Does anyone have experience buying Sam's Club gift cards online? Is it truly that bad?

I've never had a problem with Disney gift cards purchased from Sam's Club not being activated. I just ordered another $750 and they are due to arrive on Wednesday.

So am I understanding this correctly?
You can use Amex to buy Disney gift cards online and you get $15 cashback for the purchase? May have to have hubs get some Disney gift cards with his card then if that is how it is working!
Have you loaded the Amex offer on your cards? It should work on the cards that have the offer. Will report back when i see the credit. Unfortunately the lowest denomination Disney cards sold by Sam’s club are $150.

Well, nvm on sam's club gift cards. I decided to create a guest account today thinking I'd cash this out on Starbucks because the 10% non-member surcharge would push a purchase over the $30 mark but they surcharge didn't go through. I then got an email from Sam's Club with my temporary membership number that said it's good for the next 24 hours. This isn't the best laid plan but it already happened so I rolled with it and bought the $150 in Disney and split the payment between my 2 amex cards that had the offer. 25% off $150 in Disney? Yes please. (This route is not the most lucrative I know but it was the most direct and therefore seemed the most safe to me with Walmart's (and apparently Sam's Club's) gift card activation issues and I need Disney for my trips more than I need to splurge on Starbucks!) So, for the next 24 hours I have a free Sam's Club membership and no Sam's Club in town, guess I should browse and see if I could really use anything they sell online...

I signed up for the guest membership also, but I am still being charged the non-member fee. I've never shopped at Sam's Club before so I am not sure if I am just doing something wrong or maybe I just didn't get a free membership.

Bummer. I received an email from admin at samsclub . com with my temporary membership number within a couple mins of signing up and the membership was active immediately upon completing registration to my utter confusion. I tried to check-out, it said sign in or register as guest so I registered as a guest. No idea why I got one and you didn't, weird system. Maybe someone at your address or something has had a membership in the past? Nobody at mine has as we've had zero use for one.

Did anyone follow up on using a BB Reward certificate (not the CashStar bonus, but an actual BB Reward Zone or whatever it's called) cert for a gift card? I just got a $10 reward today and I can't remember if anyone ended up trying this.

The fact that you weren't charged the non-member surcharge jogged something in my brain. Are you by chance in California? i checked the Sam's Club help section and found this: "Guest shoppers will receive a 10% service fee above the listed price on all merchandise. The following areas are exempt from the service fee: California, South Carolina, & Elmsford, NY."

YMMV some said they are working others said cashiers aren't letting them use it. Best I can say is give it a go and see what happens.

Interesting, I am in CA. I'll check tomorrow afternoon to see if things still show as exempt for me a solid DP! (What in the world does Elmsford, NY, population 5k I googled it, have going for it I wonder?)

Thanks for clearing that up! I would have spent all afternoon trying to get the extra charge to disappear, lol.

So I tried this today. I also bought a few groceries that we needed. I went through self checkout and the register wouldn’t let me pay with the visa gift card. The self checkout employee came and said you don’t need to put in a pin, you just press enter. Doesn’t work and the employee asks for my drivers license, she put it in multiple times. The manager came over and didn’t say much, went away to lunch. Eventually it goes through. After it went through and the activation receipt came out, she said oh you got a gift card. I asked if it was ok, she said yes. I was almost sweating at this point. Has anyone had this happen? They want your drivers license in the register?
My local Kroger (Fry's) has a similar issue as well. It has to do with some limits that they put in a few years back when paying with non chip-enabled cards. If you purchase a gift card over $95 the system will ask for a license #, since your gift card that you are paying with is non-chip. This may answer the first part of what happened to you, the part about the cashier having trouble entering your license may have been user error. The way I get around it at self check-out is, I break it up into smaller purchases if I am paying with gift cards. So, I would do 2 separate purchases of $50 each.

So let me get this straight, you bought groceries with a Visa Gift Card? Why would you do that? I would use the Visa Gift Card at Best Buy to purchase Disney Gift Cards via Swagbucks QR code. :confused3

I inputted my cc info and then clicked add and added in my second card and then I clicked both boxes next to the cards and it popped up with a screen allowing me to charge exactly what a I wanted on each card after I clicked continue on the order I think. Each card was charged the appropriate amount. No email confirms from amex yet.

I saw others did it on DoC so i tried it myself. Fwiw no one on DoC has received Amex offer used confirmation emails yet.

I remembered others doing this a few months back, so I split payment today for the first time - LOVE that you can do this! I haven't received the confirmation email from Amex yet either, which is a bit odd (hopefully no issues).

Regarding unactivated cards (Sam's Club cards I mean) . . . the issue seems to occur when people try to use their gift cards BEFORE clicking through the Sam's Club email to activate. Then its a royal pain to fix (my mother had this problem).

Did you just purchase today? That is awfully fast shipping. I was going to wait until we came back from vacation (leaving soon). However
if they are shipping that fast.....

Thanks for this. I was going to just get Disney Gift cards because of all the bad reviews for Sam's but maybe i will get
Sams.

Please post when or if you get amex congrats email. I'm going to hold off for now. Im always worried if they try to
exclude gift cards. I did all my AMZ offers this morning for gift cards and i got the emails right away. Hopefully
sams will work for everyone.

I've done this one before, and I don't expect a problem, but I will definitely report back. Every once in a while I won't get a congratulations email. Luckily, I've never had a problem getting an Amex rebate when buying gift cards (knock on wood).
