*** The Official September 2018 Thread *** let's get started to have some fun

My family doesn't really have much of a plan going into this September trip besides a couple of ADRs and a ballpark of what park we might be in, based on those ADRs. We're actually a pretty much go with the flow family, but since we're taking a toddler this time, we wanted to do some character buffets. But so far this is what we planned for our 8-night 9-day Land and Sea Adventure for our party of 7 (6 adults and 1 2-year-old) at Disney World:

Monday, September 17 : arriving at MCO at around 11am, heading to Port Canaveral for our 4-night Disney Dream Halloween on the High Seas Cruise

Tuesday, September 18 - Friday, September 21 : Cruise

Friday, September 21 : Debarkation off of the Disney Dream and check-in at Art of Animation Family Suites; perhaps a day at Disney Springs; 5:00pm ADR for the Spirit of Aloha (my mother's only request for the trip)

Saturday, September 22 : Our MK day; 5:00pm ADR for Crystal Palace (first time doing a character buffet)

Sunday, September 23 : Morning in AK with lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue (my brother's only request for the trip); afternoon in Epcot hitting the F&W booths as our "meal"
Alternative (if we do MNSSHP) : Morning in AK with lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue; perhaps an afternoon break before heading to MK in the early evening for the party

Monday, September 24 : Morning TBD; afternoon in HS; 5:00pm ADR at Minnie's Seasonal Dine Dinner and Fantasmic package
Alternative (if we do MNSSHP) : Morning in Epcot with hitting the F&W booths for lunch; afternoon still in HS for our ADR

Tuesday, September 25 : Check-out of AoA; flight departs MCO at around 4:30pm

Now, my family has been debating about doing MNSSHP but weren't sure because of the cost of this entire trip, but since we managed to get FD and saved a bit, my mom is saying that we're more than likely going to do it, so that would change our plans and put the alternative schedules of the 23rd and the 24th, since we would do the Sunday party. We also have an additional day of park hoppers, due to the 4-day park hopper requirement for FD, that we may or may not use, but even if we don't, my mom doesn't see it as that much of a lost because of the savings.

Thinking of booking the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular dessert party, 'cause I want to make sure we have a good view for the show (since my husband is a HUGE Star Wars fan). I'm only wavering because 1. we don't drink and it's a bit more expensive 'cause of the alcohol and 2. we have a ADR at the Brown Derby for that night that we're definitely looking forward to. Anyone done the party after an ADR? or thoughts on the party?

We have done it - more than once. The party is fine. PLENTY of food. They offer some savoury itemes and a lot of sweet things. BUT - I would not do it after a dinner at a restaurant. WDW portions are HUGE and the dessert party on top is a waste of money.

I'll add the two parts of my TR (2016 - sorry) where we went to the party.

The reserved viewing spot is very close to the theater. We did the JBJB party in November and missed a lot of the big pyro behind the theater. I wound up cancelling the Star Wars party and walking up right before it started for great viewing in January.

I would say it wouldn't be worth it if you don't drink and will be full. The viewing spot isn't worth the cost alone and the rest of the experience wouldn't be worth it without much food and drink. We enjoyed the party, but we made it dinner and each had a few drinks.

I'm glad I just found this as well.

I'll be at the Swan the 6th through the 9th for a dance competition. For me the Swan is comped, and technically I'll be "working" so I don't really consider it part of my vacation. The 9th through the 16th we booked rented DVC points to get a lake view studio at the Polynesian.

Summary:
September 6th-9th @ The Swan
September 9th-16th @ The Polynesian

I'm checking AK hours from the Disney website for the week I'm there (Sept 7-13) and not seeing ROL under Fireworks & Nighttime Spectacular. Does that mean they're not going to have it?
