I remembered you and @pillow did that for PNC but my state isn't eligible for their accounts. There is a list on DOC and he lists gobs of banks and which ones work. I guess I am just confused if an ACH is just a regular old transfer of money or is there something different that makes it an 'ACH'. Maybe I am overthinking this lol!
Fwiw.... my state isn't either (CA)... but I got it in August. Tried Chase ACH bonus didn't post, right before my window closed I tried an Alliant ACH and my bonus posted. Someone on Reddit didn't get it but idk what ach they tried. (Chase has conflicting data on triggering the PNC bonus.)

I suspect the capital one bonuses may be dead. Seems like they were pretty predictable and we haven’t seen them in a while. Could be wrong but this is my sense.
That would be sad! They used to push out every few months sometimes the targeted language was enforced, sometimes not. The if you've ever had this account was always enforced. I got a $400 bonus on their checking account last summer though without being targeted so I'd still recommend someone who doesn't have a Cap1 account wait because their bonuses were just crazy big.

My understanding is that for some banks, a transfer is an ach. But that depends on the bank. I’m not helping much! I just know my c1 transfers to pnc were ach and triggered the dd requirements.

I feel like I've completely derailed our thread :D along the vein of cc bonus my sincere thanks for someone using my CSP link. I saw a bonus pending a couple nights back and I like to throw thanks out there just in case it came from here and they read our thread! I've received 2 Chase bonuses this month, that's never happened!

Along those lines I might actually be able to take my fam to WDW for F&W again this year (my travel goal this year!) I'm going to call Chase Travel later today (hopefully if I have the time) and inquire about purchasing park tickets using URs but not booking a hotel. Not ready to buy yet, just looking at options. Will report back!

I definitely could be wrong. I just remember the ing bonuses (non-targeted) were around 7/4 and maybe at thanksgiving and I don’t see those anymore.

It's SO bank specific. It should never work, but many banks systems let it through anyway as a DD. Some banks let banks x, y and z through as DD but then code banks a, b and c as P2P. DPs of others making it work (like your C1 transfer to PNC!!!) are absolutely critical to this and why DoC tries to keep a list of it for each bank.

Love a little bank bonus talk on the thread. That's been a fun side hobby for us - 2 player mode lends well to this one too :D

I know some that have done far better than us but we managed to earn about $4k in 2017 and $5k in 2016 doing this part of the hobby :)
I loved reading all the bank talk, we don't have Chase or any of the other good banks for bonuses around here.

M&T is one of the banks that have the easier DD via bank ACHs. I've had success in the past using a PUSH initiated from Wells Fargo, CapOne 360, and TD Bank as a trigger. In the past (I can be a DP as late as November), M&T's bonuses post rather quickly (bonus posted the same day the DD posted), so no harm trying the push from Navy and if it doesn't trigger, just pull back the money and try another bank.

Not @Albort, but the ACH that he is referring it is in fact the bank to bank transfers. But as mentioned, you must PUSH (i.e. initiate the transfer) the money FROM the other bank (i.e. your regular bank for example) INTO the bank you are looking to receive a bonus from. Some who just start have made the mistake of pulling the money (i.e. initiating the transfer through the bank you want to receive the bonus from), and therefore, do not receive the bonus. And more importantly, some transfers count and some don't, so it's trial and error and keeping up with DPs from DOC and reddit.

M&T has really stricken up though... people abused it it pretty badly... i got one friend with 12 accounts, another with 25. :P

@gottalovepluto Thanks for all that great info! I know you are the bank bonus queen around here :) We already have Ally savings so sounds like we are in good shape there.

probably more of a general statement than a reply to @wendow but another bank you can consider is chase business account. A friend of mine played with Chase business account turning business payroll on and off, u pay like $10 for 3 months to have access to payroll, do your DDs, then turn it off when your done. Im not sure if this works with all banks though. he seems to get it work well...

On top of bank bonuses, one rarely talks about is high interest rate account. I got a few 5% @ $5000. thats like $250 a year.

Oh M&T how I loved you  ...we hit them pretty hard (never doubled up a code tho) but between 2 players they gave us $2,020 over the past couple of years :D

@SBWB48 Blame this guy too^^... :]

If I had to blame @SouthFayetteFan, then I guess I'm just as guilty :rolleyes1 I may be a culprit of 10 accounts, but in 2P mode, so perhaps not worthy of AS much blame :P

It truly was a golden goose while it lasted :groom:

I did this last year, and you need to have $1500 in the checking acct and $300 in the savings acct to avoid fees (total $1800). DoC has a list of ways that work as a direct deposit for bank bonuses on his site here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#Chase

I was able to transfer $10 from my regular checking account as an ACH push to my new Chase checking account and that worked as a direct deposit (this was about 8 months ago). I think I have to wait until April to do this bonus again (if it's still around) since I closed my checking/savings accounts at the end of Dec.

TopCashBack lets you get your money via ACH to a checking account as a direct deposit, so you might see if one of your shopping portals allows that too, if a simple checking account transfer doesn't trigger the bonus.

ETA: nevermind, I see where you say his list for DD doesn't help you out any...and then I see that TopCashBack doesn't work per his list. Doh!

Quick question for you since you've done this successfully, what's the sure fire way to avoid the fee on the checking account? Is the Chase Savings account a qualified account so the 15k in there satisfies option #3 of having a combined 5k+?
Not sure I'd get the DD in time and unless you funded the account with the 1500 I wouldn't think you'd meet the required daily balance at the beginning of each day for the first billing cycle.

That worked for me (I did the 10K savings offer last year). Fwiw when you first open an account the monthly fee is waived for the first 2 or 3 months on Chase accounts. That is common practice with almost all banks.

Did another $50 gift card at bb but paid with $15 savings code plus $35 gift card. I’m thinking this won’t trigger the $5 sb bonus since it may see this as a $35 purchase. Oh well. Probably should have bought a $65 gift card.

Hahahaha!!! I'll share some blame... I topped out at 10 in 1P mode. 2 failed to get bonuses, but 2 were extra high bonuses so it evened out! Actually, just took the first step to close my final M&T account today. RIP QC #3 (Those who weren't involved in these shenanigans please realize no bank is like M&T was, it was a truly weird situation and M&T finally stopped this nonsense.)

Where do you find the QR code for BB on SB's?
