A Guide to Taking it Easy at WDW. Oct 2014 Mother/Daughter Trip Updated 3/6x2 The End!

Yes I agree that the loading area is dark but I guess that's part of the theming because your in a mine. Small world is a must for me.

Love that magic shot with lumiere. Dumbo another must for me. Love your space mountain photo.

I like the photopass pictures and agree with you on mom and the squinty eyes (I personally prefer to keep my sunglasses on for my photos).

I LOVE all of your Dumbo pictures. They did such a great job with that and the water...I just love it there.

Way to go Mom on posing for that camera shot.

A great way to take a little load of until lunch time...nothing beats the People Mover.

Awww, I don't know of I've ever even noticed a photog by Beast's castle. I need to check that out. But wow, mom is really giving a good stare down to Lumiere. :rotfl2:

I really need to ride Dumbo one of these trips for old time's sake. Oh wait... maybe I did. Sadly (and shamefully) I completely missed on on the Peoplemover though. :(

GReat updates!

Nice pictures of you and your mom with the PP+ photographers.
Looks like you had a lovely time in NFL, even if you did miss rope drop.
You managed to get on quite a few rides this morning.

awwwwwwwww Dumbo pictures!!!! and great eye for it too!!! I dig the tunnel picture.. might have to do that next trip! and this:
We walked through NFL but did not ride anything.
National Football League? Just kidding i did have to read that twice to figure out New FantasyLand...
Poor squinty Mom! HA HA she is giving Lumier the eye isn't she!!! So FUN!

Thanks for the review! Hard rock looks fantastic! I wonder of The Palm is like the one we have here in Chicago...
This is also great information on the passes... Which i am to believe it's like a FP? for every ride?!? you KNOW why i am barraging you with all these questions.. The family want to go there SO BADLY!!!

So many great Dumbo pics.

Love your Space Mountain ride photo, too funny!!

Thanks, I can't help taking a ton of pictures of Dumbo, it's just so pretty. I think that was the only time we managed to pose for the camera this trip!

Yeah, it is probably part of the theming but it definitely threw us off for a minute!

Mom hates sunglasses in photos for some reason but I've never had a problem with them. I can't help taking a ton of Dumbo photos! I think that's the only one she managed to pose on that week. I could ride the TTA all day!

That's the first time I had seen a photographer there. She was staring down Lumiere wasn't she? No clue what that face was all about! Dumbo is a must do for me because it has such good childhood memories for me.

Thanks! We did manage to get a lot done that morning despite our late arrival.

I always try for that tunnel picture for some reason and it always turns out blurry because I don't want to pause long enough and hold up the line! :rotfl: I thought everyone on the DIS knew that NFL stands for New Fantasyland and NOT National Football League.

Whoops, looks like you posted this to the wrong thread but I'll go ahead and answer it here. No idea on the Palm since we didn't even go near it. I think it's a fancy steakhouse. They actually have a dress code which is probably why Jim and I never considered eating there. Yep, Express Pass is basically the same as the old FP system at Disney except you have to pay for it if you are not at one of their hotels. Oh and you don't have to run to each ride to get a pass since you have one ticket in hand for all the rides. And it's not free at every onsite hotel, that's why we didn't stay at the cheaper new resort, Cabana Bay. I think there are only 3 or 4 rides that don't accept Express Pass, two of those being the Harry Potter rides. But we managed those just fine using the early entry perk.

Step 20: Accept a Royal Invitation to Lunch

Our lunch ADR was at 11:45 am at Cinderella’s Royal Table. If you remember from my February TR, Mom and I were supposed to have breakfast here during that trip but Mom woke up that morning with a stomach virus and we had to cancel. We really wanted to try it this trip and decided on lunch instead of breakfast since we were already doing the O’Hana breakfast earlier in the week.

We got to the restaurant at about 11:30 but the CM said they could not check me in until right at our ADR time. So we checked out the murals while we waited. We were both looking for Hidden Mickeys although we didn’t even know if there were any there.

We checked in at CRT right at 11:45 and were let into the room where we would meet Cinderella.

A couple of mice were watching over the proceedings.

Then it was time to meet Cinderella. She really liked my Frozen shirt and said that Jacques and Gus Gus had been playing tag with Elsa earlier. Then she pointed to the mice up above her and said “Oh no, it looks like Elsa froze them. I’ll have to get her to unfreeze them later”. Then we took a picture.

It’s not as noticeable in that picture but Mom saw right away when we got our print at the end of lunch that Cinderella was having some issues with the fit of her gown.

We were led upstairs and I paused to take a picture looking back down at the room we just came from.

We were lead straight to a window seat! Here’s our view out the window.

And looking back into the restaurant.

They brought us out an appetizer tray first and if you know me well, you know I didn’t touch much of this at all. I did try a little of the humus but definitely did not like it.

I thought the menus were very pretty.

And even though we were both adults, our server brought us wands!

I took another picture out the window. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed this dress on top of the princess store before. Always got to remember to look up in Disney (or down in our case at that moment).

We both ended up ordering the beef short ribs which were excellent.

Then the Princesses started coming around. I honestly don’t remember most of the conversations we had. For the most part they were pretty quick. Snow White was first.

No clue what I’m looking at in this photo.

Aurora was next.

Geeze, I’m looking off into the distance again on this one.

Ariel

I tried to strike up a conversation with her by telling her she was my husband’s favorite. She just said to tell him hi and then moved on.

I do remember some of the conversation with Jasmine because it was weird. She told my Mom that she loved her glasses and that she needed to get a pair like that for the Genie. Mom and I were both a little confused because the Genie doesn’t wear glasses. No idea where that comment came from.

For dessert, I got “The Clock Strikes Twelve” which is made of white and dark chocolate.

Mom got the seasonal cheesecake which happened to be strawberry.

Oh, and one more photo of my dessert after I cut into it so you can see the inside.

Both of the desserts were so good and almost too pretty to eat. We managed though. We loved lunch here and will definitely be back again on a future visit. It was our favorite meal of the whole trip! Oh and in case anyone is wondering how the Tables in Wonderland card worked with a pre-paid meal, they just gave me a credit back to my credit card for the discount.

I took one more photo on the way out.

I'm glad you got a do-over at CRT! Where can you see Jacques and Gus Gus? I want to make sure I keep my eye out for them when I go!

Yay for getting wands! Lovely photos, I'm glad it was such a good meal!

I'm so glad you got to go to CRT. How sweet that they gave you wands! And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it...still trying to fit it into the schedule for July or October for our first visit.

What a great meal! I haven't eaten at CRT yet and is like to do it at least once. You aren't the first one to say the character interaction wasn't the best and it really does vary with the restaurants. It's also really cool that you got the wands!

Those murals are not a bad way to pass the time, that's for sure.

Awww I love when characters talk about other characters. It makes it feel like they're all one great big family, which they are.

I promise you, if I ever do eat there, I am getting a wand.

I have to say that Ariel was looking mighty lovely.

What a great meal! Looks like you got most, if not all, the princesses M&G done with the one meal.

Jacques and Gus Gus are way up on the wall in the room where you meet Cinderella. If you are looking directly at her, they are to the left and up. I was really surprised but pleased that we got wands!

I was so happy we got wands because I didn't think they gave them to adults. We really did enjoy the meal. I was a little worried because I had heard mixed reviews but we both loved our meals.

We were kind of thinking it would be a one time thing but we both enjoyed it so much I am sure we will be back. I think if Mom and I had been more talkative we might have had some more interaction. We are both pretty quite though.

Those murals are so beautiful and have so much detail! I was very pleased that we got wands. Mom not so much since we had to carry them around the rest of the day. I knew you would appreciate Ariel!

Well, we got four of them. I was trying to figure out the other day who I haven't meet Princess wise and I think Belle is now the only one. There are quite a few if you think about it.

Step 21: Continue the Afternoon with More Princess Greets Part 1

When Mom and I were discussing which FP+ we would get for MK, Mom said she wanted to meet Anna & Elsa. I was pretty surprised by that since Mom’s never been into the meet and greets. But we did actually see Frozen together in the theater so maybe that was why she wanted to meet them. I never did tell her how hard it was to get this FP but I waited up till midnight so I could make sure and get it for her. The first available time I could get was 1:20 pm so we headed straight there after lunch.

This was where we were in the FP line.

Anna was up first and she was just perfect and bubbily. She immediately started talking to us about chocolate.

Elsa was a little more reserved but once again she started talking about chocolate with us. Mom and I thought that was pretty funny.

We went next to the FP+ kiosk by Mickey’s Philharmagic. I really wanted to get a Pirates FP but the CM that helped us said Pirates was down and probably was going to be all day. I let Mom pick and she chose Jungle Cruise for 1:45 – 2:45 pm. We were actually already within that time frame so we headed straight to Adventureland. Here’s the crowds that day walking through Liberty Square.

It wasn’t long before we were on our boat and headed into the jungle. First though, I took this photo for a friend here on the DIS since this is “her” boat.

We didn’t get on that boat but instead ended up on this one.

And here we go with picture overload again.

Step 21: Continue the Afternoon with More Princess Greets Part 2

Continued from Previous Post

I must have been seated right next to a pole in the boat because it keeps showing up in my pictures!

Hippobottomuses!! And no I didn’t spell that wrong, that’s what the CMs call them because they do not have a bottom half. We learned that on the KTTK tour in February.

And speaking of the KTTK tour, Mom and I got to see some of the rehearsals for the new parade when we were on the tour so despite not being parade people, we wanted to see it. So when we got off of the Jungle Cruise, we turned around and headed back to Fronterland to find a good spot for the parade.

Up Next: Step 22: Relax and Watch the Afternoon Parade

You're such a good daughter for getting that Anna and Elsa FP! They sure love their chocolate I guess.

Pirates has been having a lot of problems as of late. Rumor is its going down for a big refurb soon to fix that.

The jungle cruise is a great ride as well. I got to experience the jingle cruise this year which was different. That was a cool fact that skippers call the hippos that because they don't have a bottom half.

Oh good! you were able to do CRT!!! man alive it looks delish! Sorry about the weird meets?!?! what is that about?!?!

great pictures as usual!

I'm glad you guys got to meet A&E, cute pics! Bummer about Pirates being down, but cool that you got a FP for Jungle Cruise that was available immediately!
