An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

(Thanks, Glennbo for letting me steal that!)

I thought it looked familiar! No problem.

Hopefully, we ladies will refrain ourselves from picking our noses, like the guy on the far right. Then again, I might just do it, so I'll get more readers for my TR. :lmao: After all, if Jordan can walk around with a mystery smear all night, aren't I entitled to a little nose picking? :lmao:

You know what? I saw that when I posted that installment of my TR, and I didn't comment on it....I thought "I'll let my readers have some fun, posting about that". But no one ever did. :confused3

The picture makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where the girl he's dating pulls up in a car next to him and looks over and he's doing something like what the guy in the picture is doing. She drives off all disgusted and he sees her and he yells "I wasn't picking! I was scratching!"

(Glenn provided this shot too. ;))

He apparently is a very generous guy.

From there it will be easy to find our way "home", and hit the sack 100 days from now.

I have one last installment of my 2005 flashback TR to post and it has lots of pictures from around POR. I suppose you want me to get that puppy loaded so you can see if there're any shots there you'd like to steal. Hmmm?

Sounds like a wonderful day! Jiko is a great restaurant - this reminds me that I really really need to restart Katharina's and mine TR! I want to tell everyone about our wonderful dinner at Jiko! :goodvibes:goodvibes

::yes:: I was thinking that it's been a while, but didn't want to bug you because I know you've been pretty busy.

Hi Kathy!! Yes I had heard that your Blackhawks are doing VERY well! I remember the last time I got all excited about a sports team doing so well was in like '91 or '92 when the Portland Trailblazers took a NBA title. (or almost did?) Fun stuff, if you "know" the players and keep up with it. If not, it's all sorta meh to me. You're a faithful fan!! GO! GO! GO! :cheer2:

I've only gotten into hockey the last year or two -- thanks to the three men in my family (I find it a very violent sport); used to love basketball when Michael Jordan played (now we don't watch it anymore). I love baseball, but our team stinks! Thank you for the GO! GO! GO!

it was a good 2 first games, you did sit on pins and needles the last few minutes...

i kinda hope they lose one of the games in philly so they can win in game 5 at home.

I was thinking the same thing...I'd love them to win it at home (as would our oldest son who will have tickets if there is a Game 5).

I love this thread... it has everything from stolen outhouses to hockey games; running in slippers to yurts in the mountains. :rotfl:

It is such a fun thread....you make it that way. :)

100 days from now,

we'll be just over half way done with our trip! And the fun's still ramping up... On tap for today:

After facing the wrath of the mountain Yeti,

We'll tackle 2/3 of the AK Trifecta starting here for lunch:

(Thanks, Glennbo for letting me steal that!)

:lmao:

For those of you didn't recognize it, that was Sanaa. ;)

After a day of more fun at AK, we'll stay in the vicinity, and eat dinner here:

(Stole this one from a dining review.)

Then, because we won't be done having ourselves all kinds of fun, we'll head back to our resort to catch this guy:

(Glenn provided this shot too. ;))

From there it will be easy to find our way "home", and hit the sack 100 days from now.

What a fun filled afternoon/evening (we've never been to either restaurant so I'll be anxious to hear your reviews). Maybe the guy picking his nose was the one on the plane with Tim? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It looks so festive and pretty! I think I will see if maroo and LeeAnn are up for waiting for a window table- although I think with an 11:30 ADR, we shouldn't have a problem AT ALL!!! AHHHH, to watch the animals chow as we do. :lmao:

The food looks just as amazing!!!! YUM!
That would be nice to be able to see the animals. I bet you won't have a problem getting that window table. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a wonderful day! Jiko is a great restaurant - this reminds me that I really really need to restart Katharina's and mine TR! I want to tell everyone about our wonderful dinner at Jiko! :goodvibes:goodvibes
Yes, I would like to read about that as well! :goodvibes

Ok, I have much to say to all of you (don't I always? :lmao:), but I haven't eaten dinner yet (Mmm... chili) and I need to spank my 17 year old. :lmao: How is it possible that she could blow off not one, but several writing and grammar tests??

So, after a dinner hiatus and ensuing heartburn and gas, I'll return later to respond.

I can't wait to read your review of Sanaa.
We're leaving right before you arrive. It's too bad we're not there the same time. We could have met up for an adult beverage or two :)

I thought it looked familiar! No problem.

I admit, I should have asked you first. :flower3:

You know what? I saw that when I posted that installment of my TR, and I didn't comment on it....I thought "I'll let my readers have some fun, posting about that". But no one ever did. :confused3

See... even I didn't see it first time around. :sad2: And I read the whole thing cover to cover! :confused3 Glad I saw it this time; I was splitting my sides when I saw it- I can see it now: his wife is kicking him under the table, saying, "John! Stop. IT!!! This is a classy joint!"

The picture makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where the girl he's dating pulls up in a car next to him and looks over and he's doing something like what the guy in the picture is doing. She drives off all disgusted and he sees her and he yells "I wasn't picking! I was scratching!"

Exactly!! Kind of like when you rip one in public (accidentally, of course!) and then cough to make sure those around you think you're clearing your throat. :lmao:

He apparently is a very generous guy.

Yes, he is!!!

I have one last installment of my 2005 flashback TR to post and it has lots of pictures from around POR. I suppose you want me to get that puppy loaded so you can see if there're any shots there you'd like to steal. Hmmm?

Now, that you mention it... :lmao:

::yes:: I was thinking that it's been a while, but didn't want to bug you because I know you've been pretty busy.

Here, here! We don't bug. We beg. ;)

It is such a fun thread....you make it that way. :)

nah, I just keep the lights on. Ya'll bring the party.

And I can't wait to write them. I'm certainly no Oy Bolshoi, but I promise lots of pix and plenty of descriptions.

I wonder if he rolled and flicked, or used the front of his shirt like my son?

That would be nice to be able to see the animals. I bet you won't have a problem getting that window table. :thumbsup2

Yes, I would like to read about that as well! :goodvibes

Nope! And I also hear they do a really, really cool opening show around 11:00; we may try to make it for that as well. Drums and dancing and such. :confused3 Anyone know about this?

Hmmm, african wine - that could be interesting!

Either that, or the behavior that follows! :rotfl:

I can't wait to read your review of Sanaa.
We're leaving right before you arrive. It's too bad we're not there the same time. We could have met up for an adult beverage or two :)

AH nutz!!! I'd have loved to meet up with you! One or two - or 3. :lmao:

I admit, I should have asked you first. :flower3:

No worries. You knew I'd say yes.

See... even I didn't see it first time around. :sad2: And I read the whole thing cover to cover! :confused3 Glad I saw it this time; I was splitting my sides when I saw it- I can see it now: his wife is kicking him under the table, saying, "John! Stop. IT!!! This is a classy joint!"

Right! In a classy joint you extend your pinkie.

Exactly!! Kind of like when you rip one in public (accidentally, of course!) and then cough to make sure those around you think you're clearing your throat. :lmao:

I don't know what you're talking about!

Here, here! We don't bug. We beg. ;)

I like that.

I'll be anxious to hear about both of those places later. I've never been to either, but Jiko especially looks really interesting to me.

YOU SURE DO!!! I'm dying for an update from your TR! I mean I don't even think you've gotten us to a park yet!!! :scared1: ANd you know, I for one, am VERY anxious for the JIKO review! I NEED To know what to order!

Oh, the Jiko review will be on our last evening!! :scared1: I am not sure I will make it there until you will dine there... Perhaps I will write it earlier and PM it to you... :goodvibes

Oh and updates are imminent! :thumbsup2

::yes:: I was thinking that it's been a while, but didn't want to bug you because I know you've been pretty busy.

Thanks a lot for this post! It's great to know that people are still intersted in what I write! :goodvibes

Yes, I would like to read about that as well! :goodvibes

Thanks for being interested, I am sure I will get there at some point! :goodvibes

Here, here! We don't bug. We beg. ;)

I like that, too! :goodvibes

:rotfl2:

Don't you love the DIS for having endless amounts of photos to use? I'm excited for you to try Sanaa. You read my dining experience there, right? It was in my Speed Walkin' TR if I remember correctly.

....okay I just checked and yes you did. You joined in just as it ended!

Oh my, I hope you get your visa/passport situation straightened out in time to make your son's graduation!

Have I mentioned that I  Jiko filet? I do

No worries. You knew I'd say yes.

I'd tell you that you could steal any of mine any time you want, but my pix suck so bad that they are barely worth putting on the internet at all.

Right! In a classy joint you extend your pinkie.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I don't know what you're talking about!

I was referring to my father- the Master Farter. He has a thousand ways to either pass the blame or disguise. Most often NOT so successfully. :rotfl2:

I'll be anxious to hear about both of those places later. I've never been to either, but Jiko especially looks really interesting to me.

They both have such an exotic look to them. And EVERY picture I see of the food looks fabulous. :cloud9: I wish I could decide what to get at JIKO!

Oh, the Jiko review will be on our last evening!! :scared1: I am not sure I will make it there until you will dine there... Perhaps I will write it earlier and PM it to you... :goodvibes

Oh and updates are imminent! :thumbsup2

That would be great! I especially (at the very least) want to hear what you ordered. Or you can tell me about it when I see you. :goodvibes

OK, right after this, I'll check for it.

:rotfl2:

Yes! And the posters on this thread seem to have a vast array to choose from at will. :lmao: Yep! I remember it! And yes, you were speed walking- again.

Oh my, I hope you get your visa/passport situation straightened out in time to make your son's graduation!

Have I mentioned that I  Jiko filet? I do

Oh gosh, me too!! STILL no word- and it's Wednesday.

I'm not a big steak eater, but that one has been described as "melt in your mouth". Maybe this will be my one steak experience. :confused3

Only 2 sections to go with the Mickey Journal. And doesn't everyone need a place to record the trip damages? The Financial Section has a place for all things related to how much goes where (and when).

Take a look....

Here's the cover:

Can you believe I've never seen a cartoon with Scrooge McDuck?! Sad...

Just under the cover, this handy little addition will help to keep me on track, and hopefully instill some sort of self-control... then again, maybe not. :rotfl2:

The actual expenses will go here:

You can see that the bulk of the trip is already paid for!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Lastly, a little birdie told me that my receipts just might come in handy someday. :lmao::lmao::lmao: So I made a little pocket to stash them in. I'll dump them out each evening, and start amassing them anew each day...

We'll see if the reality of collecting this data matches the pipe dream of doing it. ;)

Have you checked out my previous Jiko reviews?

2007 can be found here, unfortunately it is without pictures and 2008 can be found here. As you will see, I had the same dish twice and it is absolutely wonderful!!

But I will try to get the Jiko review done soon and PM it to you. Which shouldn't prevent us from talking about it in August as well! :goodvibes

Scrooge McDuck is very popular here in Germany. He is called Dagobert Duck here (also Uncle Dagobert). The most popular Disney product here in Germany are pocket books filled with comics. And he is an important character in those. The books are called "Walt Disney's Lustige Taschenbücher" which means "Walt Disney's Funny Pocket Books". And this is what German kids used to grow up with. There are many characters, which are very popular here, which aren't known that well in the US like "Gyro Gearloose" called Daniel Düsentrieb hier in Germany. He is the crazy inventor.

Keeping receipts is really helpful! All my dining reviews relied heavily on them and they are also helpful for the TR in order to figure out when did we buy what... :rolleyes1
