I don't know if the Oceaneers Club is going to be overwhelming for our son. He goes to school now and loves it. I really hope he loves the Club so we can have some adult time. However, Flounders Reef will take 3 year olds as well.

The Dry Wipe Group has added it's 20th person/couple and we are going to close it here. We will be making a list of anyone who may be interested in coming on board if someone has to drop out, though. If you are interested in being put on the waiting list PM me and I will see that you are added. :thumbsup2

What is the Dry Wipe Club?

Hey :)

I made myself a new signature and thought I would post to up our numbers and check it out ;) I do have a real reason to post too though

So, for all you PPCC'S (that's Past Panama Canal Cruisers by the way ;) lol) I have many, many, many questions, you will probably hate me lol. So here are a few to whet your palet!

1. Is there a different show in the theatre lots of nights or just a few? I think on our 7 day we had 3 or 4 theatre type shows and then comedians etc. how many theatre type shows will be on this one?

2. Out of the ports that are the same, which was your favorite and why? Also, did you do an excursion that you would recommend?

3. How many hours does it take to actually get through the locks once the process is started?

4. How much luggage did you bring with you? I am honestly nervous about having to pack for that long...also, how many formal outfits did you bring...can I "reuse" a dress or do I need different ones for each event?

Ok, that's it for now :) Thanks in advance!

Also, on another topic, for my other Disney cruise I purchased the lance armstrong type bracelets for everyone in our group and then they each paid me when they were delivered. They were glow in the dark dis green and had the dates and cruise name on it. it was nice to be able to identify other fellow Disers so easily...I would be willing to take on this task again. the bracelets came out to about $1.50 each and I think they were well worth the cost :) Here is a pic to help you decide:

As you can see it is written in Disney font (embedded in the bracelet). Let me know folks! I obviously won't order until like November, lol but it would be nice to get an idea!

Cheerio :)

I would be interested. Those are really neat! How do you join a group?
Thanks for asking the questions you did! I wanted to know the same thing!! LOL

I meant everyone on this forum when I said group :) I wouldn't leave anyone out!! :grouphug: It was really cool to see everyone wearing them through the week and even though we didn't get a chance to know everyone, whenever we saw someone with a green bracelet we would give/get warm smiles and a cheery "hello" :) I guess I'm just a sucker for that kind of stuff.

Cheerio!

Thank you very much, where in Scotland are you from? I have been there, fabulous country!
We are from a small Hamlet near dunfermline the ancient capital of scotland, where did you go? Edinburgh? I work in edinburgh.

Holly, they bracelets look cool, great idea, but I like an even tan so count me out:cool2:
Ive never been on the canal before, but lots of others have and will no doubt answer you Qs

I meant to say, they cakes are amazing!!!!

Don't know if they will but would love to have ours done if they would. I have had several passports now and only had one stamped in Canada and that was only because I made a point to ask.

I'm in the process of renewing my passport. When I got my current one 10 years ago, I told my DH that my goal was to go to enough places so that I had to have new pages added. Made that goal in 3 and a half years - almost needed to get more pages again. Such fun - but they don't automatically stamp the passports any more. RATS!

That's a great idea! We did lanyards on our Dec cruise meet but so many people ended up wearing their Castaway Club or DVC ones. Since there are a lot of returning cruisers and/or DVCer's, the bracelets would be a great alternative to customized lanyards.

I have always thought decorating cakes would be fun. Just one of the hobbies I haven't tried yet, though. These are great too.

Thank you. One of these days I would love to take a decorating class. I would love to learn how to decorate with buttercream and to be taught all the fancy fondant techniques!

The only thing I was bummed about is my husband and I were going to run the 5K they do at Castaway Cay in the morning the last full day of our trip.... I obviously could not do it, and I was looking so forward to it! But, my husband was able to do it, and so that was good. Next year for the PC cruise... Castaway Cay is our first stop, so hopefully i can keep myself injury free for 24 hours on the Wonder to do the 5K at Castaway Cay on Jan. 7! hahahaha!!! :thumbsup2 (ok, so hopefully everyone in our family can keep ourselves injury free for the full 15 days!!:cool1:)

DH & I want to do the 5K at Castaway Cay, too - he did it last year and had fun. I'm heading to WDW next month for the Royal Family 5K which is part of the Princess Half Marathon weekend. I understand that AuntLynne is participating, too. Anyone else?

I guess I could pass it off as Pooh's house if I put up a Mr Sanders sign. It was supposed to be a mouse house. Everything is edible. I entered it in our local fair. When I was carrying it in they thought it was ceramic. It won 1st, Best of Class and Best of Show.

Way to go!! Congrats - it is a lovely cake.

I've enjoyed seeing all the cakes that have been posted.

And as to the red velvet cake - my kitchen curtains still have red spots from the one and only time I made one. I don't understand what all the fuss is about with it. Give me angel food any time. LOL!

I love working with fondant. It's like playing with modeling clay. Too bad it just doesnt taste that good. I love your cakes, thank you for sharing.

Tami and Carmen, those cakes are amazing!!! I used to work in a bakery and we made tons of cakes, but we used buttercream to decorate. So I know how to decorate with buttercream icing but I really want to start experimenting with fondant. Do you buy the fondant or is there a recipe?

Thank you both! Maybe someday I can do something like Tami but I need a lot of practice before I even attempt it. Don't know if making one or two cakes a year can get me there.

I used a marshmallow fondant recipe that I found on wilton.com. It's made with melted marshmallows and powdered sugar and tastes very good but of course is very sweet. I don't know how the texture and consistency compare with regular fondant because I've never used it. When I was first trying to learn how to use it I spent a bit of time on the wilton boards. A few of the ladies that are very good and do very detailed cakes like Tami said that they like to use the marshmallow fondant. So, if you want a good tasting fondant, may be something to try. :goodvibes

Oooh, thought of another question and thought I better ask before I forget (and to do my part on getting us to 250!), lol. On our 7 day western we had the romantic escape at sea package, it was wonderful and included, champagne, chocolates, bathrobes, a champagne breakfast, and a pass to the spa for the week :) We were thinking about doing this again but i have heard they might not be offered on the longer cruises. Can anyone yay or nay this? thanks in advance :)

Cheerio,

Holly

I like those bracelets they are pretty cool. If we decide to get some let me know. I might be able to get us a good price. One of my businesses deals with promotional stuff like that.

1. Is there a different show in the theatre lots of nights or just a few? I think on our 7 day we had 3 or 4 theatre type shows and then comedians etc. how many theatre type shows will be on this one?

On our PC cruise they would fly in acts for specific nights. One night was Boys to Men another night was Bob Sagat and the Muppets. I'm not a show person so I really didn't care about any of it. Jeff is still working on scanning the navigators. It's been one of those weeks.

2. Out of the ports that are the same, which was your favorite and why? Also, did you do an excursion that you would recommend?
We're only repeating one port: Cabo. And unless one of the new ports blows my socks off I will say Cabo. We LOVED Cabo. We did the sea kayak tour which was awesome. Whatever you do, go to Honeymoon and Divorce beaches.

3. How many hours does it take to actually get through the locks once the process is started?
You get to the meeting point for the canal pilot sometime around 4 AM. You don't get through the last bit of the canal until first seating for dinner. Yes it's an all day thing.

4. How much luggage did you bring with you? I am honestly nervous about having to pack for that long...also, how many formal outfits did you bring...can I "reuse" a dress or do I need different ones for each event?
You can always reuse. We didn't, but we didn't have a toddler with us then. We did do laundry twice on board. We took 2 formal outfits, 2 semiformal and a bunch of other stuff.

Hey everyone just wondering who is all planning to go to disneyland after the cruise and what are peoples plans for transfers to Disneyland??

We are 'fingers-crossed' to extend our trip with a stop at DL (Friday night & hopeful for Saturday). Last West Coast cruise, DCL offered transport from port to the Grand Californian Hotel. Website should have additional information in a couple of months -- they just posted summer 2010 information:confused3 If Disney doesn't offer and there are enough of us interested, it would be worth discussing :thumbsup2

I doubt they will have it on this cruise. I don't think it's ever been offered on a 7+ day cruise.

Wow looks like we are determined to get part 2 started. Lots to reply to. I would have been more on top of it but I did not leave work till 4 in the morning due to the weather in Dallas. So first I think it was Jenkatt that said she hated the cattle call. I get that. That us why it took us almost two year to cone up with what we do know. All we do is reserve your place in line now so you don't have to wait in line until we line you up. It work well. Again it is not perfect, but our full fare passenengers who travel for work love it, and it was really their idea as it was based on a passenger feedback. As for time zone changes. On both the May 05 and May 08 crossing we changed the clocks 3 times back. I think this is going to be a little differant as it think Panama or Aruba or both thus time of year is 4 hours ahead of L.A. So we will go forward once and back 4. I may be wrong about that, the best way to find out is to go. Speeking of birthdays I will be celebrating mine at WDW. I leave now in one week and 6 days. Can't wait. My birthday is March 1 and we are having dinner at Yahtsmans steakhouse. I love it there, they have the best creamed spinich. As for bags and how much to pack. We will have 4 bags since that is what we can check without being charged, and that is enough for no repeting of outfits and we will not have to do laundry on the ship. I would refuse to anyway as doing laundry us a chore, and chores are not ment to be done on vacation. I think that may be it. Well here is looking ahead to part 2. Oh I would have multi quote, but I am using the iPhone app E Ticket to get on the boards and it does not allow multi quotes.

We would love to but don't think we'll make it. DH will have to go back to work on Monday and wants/needs a couple of days to get back into the real world.

But, this does bring up a new question. For those that have cruised into the LA port before: is it simple to rent a car like it is in Port Canaveral? We would like to rent a car to take to the airport because it will be more flexible if we can only get a late flight and because it's cheaper than Disney transfers. However, we will take Disney transfers if renting a car is too big of a pain. Don't mind a bit of hassle but don't want to end up with a huge headache either!

On our West Coast 2005, we took 'disney bus' from LAX to Grand Californian, hotel to port, port to LAX. We had a late flight so we rented car at airport and went to the King Tut (traveling museum presentation) and 'cruised' Beverly Hills before returning to LAX. Only had 2 issues -- first, our in-bound flight to LAX arrived after 10 pm & I had to hassle bus service to pick us up (after multiple calls prior to our arrival to confirm the bus would be available as service was posted as available until midnight), and second was that we were unable to check luggage prior to our car adventure in LA, so we had to move it several more times than planned. Everyone lived to tell, so lesson learned -- late evening arrivals, plan car service and leave DH at airport with luggage:rotfl2: while picking up the car.

Happy early birthday. March is a great month for birthdays! MIne is March 3 and the kids are March 12 and 13!
Oh yeah, and have fun at WDW!!!
